Christopher Tolkien

Postby Voronwe_the_Faithful » Thu Jan 16, 2020 11:38 am

I just saw the news that Christopher Tolkien passed away today at the age of 95. The gratitude that I feel towards him for the tireless work that he did bringing as much of his father's work to light as possible cannot be stated, and I will not try.

Rest in peace, and thank you.

I too don't have the adequate words to express my gratitude to Christopher Tolkien for his work.

I guess a simple, but very heartfelt, thank you, will have to do.

“In the twilight of autumn [the ship:] sailed out of Mithlond, until the seas of of the Bent World fell away beneath it, and the winds of the round sky troubled it no more, and borne upon the high airs above the mists of the world it passed into the Ancient West, and an end was come for the Eldar of story and of song.”

Farewell, Christopher. And thank you.

R.I.P. indeed. CJRT has been an integral part of the whole M-E Legendarium that we all love and admire and his contribution to our understanding of it has been immense.

Thank you Christopher for being keeper of the flame. For picking up your father's work and helping to ensure it is secure for future generations. God Speed and have a blessed reunion.

Without Christopher Tolkien, The Silmarillion would still be a collection of notes sitting in boxes. His father's son for sure.
