Premiere Membership Changes

Postby Jonathan » Wed Nov 28, 2012 11:10 pm

So, I'm thinking about Premiere Membership and any changes we want to make to it in the future... I'm considering a name-your-own-monthly-price option for folks with a minimum of $1.50/mo. That way pretty much anyone can convince themselves to get it, and anyone else who wants to be generous can be.

Just trying to rethink some of it before I re-create the subscription system.

Any other ideas anyone wants to toss out to me about how to setup the payment system (or any other great ideas)?

Jonathan

So, what would one get for a buck fitty?
Just the ability to private message?
Double that and you get what?
Just a sig?
Go for the four bucks and you get the full Monty?

Just being curious is all.
It sounds like a good way to give people the chance to have a Premire membership.

Nope, everybody would get everything... sort of like when some artists sell their music and say "Pay what you want" for their downloadable music.

It's just an idea to get more PMs involved in TORC and lower the barrier of entry for some folks who don't want to pay $4/mo. Of course, maybe everyone will pay the lowest amount, and I shouldn't rely on the generosity of some folks... ;)

Hey Jon.

On a tanget, can we get back the "last posted / visited date" thingie which was once here. It showed up in each post by TORCers..on the left side of "their posts".

I found that helpful..seeing if someone had posted / visited recently. Or, at the least, see the last time they did.

"Last visited" would be way cool to me. Then I would know they still visit even if they don't post. Just to know they still live and visit will be a joy to me. Yeah, I want to know who lurks.

====================

Shout out lurkers..if you don't want anyone to know you lurk.

So much for lurking if you do shout out.

Well, that would be really cool. :D

I do believe I would continue to pay the $4 a month
But that's because I can afford for myself only.
Judging by the numerous Secret Santa's on the old board,
There are many generous people on TORC.

Any thing to keep this great site up and running I say. :D

Hmmmm, a "pay what you want / can" idea certainly has some merits . . . and is very generous on your part Jonathan!

The Pro's are definitely that it makes it easier for folks at a wide range of financial levels to show their support and have some "cool stuff" in the bargain, not only for themselves but also if they want to do a Secret Santa thing. ;)

(( I'm not going to bother listing any Con's, lest I be seen as the worst type of cynic . . . ;) but we all know what the cons are. ))

I'll gladly continue to pay the same price as I used to, saving up for little treats to myself like this has become a habit, LOL. A flexible price would also be a cool thing if I happen to have a windfall one year, I could actually sneak a wee bit more into the kitty. And the if the reverse happened and there was a financial shortfall one year, I could still manage.

:D :D :D

Thanks for the feedback :) ... I think I'll go for a pay what you want approach. Though each transaction costs about $0.35, so a $1.50 transaction means the net income is only $1.15 -- not sure if I'll do $1.50 as the lowest or $2.

Thinking thinking thinking...
