Book or Movie universes?

In writing stories set in Middle-Earth, I wondered, what continuity do most of us utilize: That of Tolkien's books, or the film adaptations?

For me, absolutely, unequivocally, utterly exclusively - the books, of course!! Why any fan-fictionist desirous of writing a tale set in Middle-earth would choose Peter Jackson's nonsensical cinematic world of base Hollywood stunts and anomalistic wooden dialogue over the professor Tolkien's immortal literary epic will always be a mystery to me. :P

Is it just me, or are the movies not very well liked here?

Oh no the movies are well liked as you can read in the movies sections; it's just that when it comes to writing fanfics or Middle-earth related writing we prefer the books ;) ;)

Nah, it's just Celebrimbor32. =:)

But for writing stories I do prefer the bookiverse, simply because there is so much more of it.

Close enough.

But understandably, fanfics would base more on the books as it is a more developed, broader world. A more steady stage to stand on.
