Blues great John Lee Hooker died today at the age of 80. Many of his songe were done as covers by others, like Crawin' King Snake by Jim Morrison, or One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer popularized by George Thuroughgood.

Another of the great old bluesmen moves on down the highway.

http://www.blueflamecafe.com/default.htm
[l]

And so we lose another of the great bluesmen. And B.B. King becomes that much more important. Even if he is in a slightly different genre. There's still R.L. Burnside, though -- unless I missed his leaving us?

I loved John Lee Hooker. My favorites by him were "Dimples" and from the album More Real Folk Blues, the song "House Rent Blues". One of the all time greats. I'll drink to you and Carroll O'Conner tonight,J.L.!
