:x We all know the Mary Sues... Sometimes, they provide an almost enjoyable read, but other times...
But the big quetion is, what are the qualities that make certain Mary Sues so unbearable?

I avoid them (except in parody) because it is tiresome to read about someone who is so perfect and wonderful and can solve all problems with the wave of a hand. It's a lot more fun for the writer than the reader, I think.

So, in other words, it hasn't stopped me from writing shameless self-insertion, but I don't expect others to enjoy it ;)
