The Bards' Guild - Let's Sing It One More Time

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

This space marks the new site of The Grand High Mystic Society for the Preservation of the Bardic Traditions. It's a work in progress folks so feel free to come in and help get the new digs in good order.

When I get a bit more time I will update the opening post and transfer it here.

Vana walks into the new guild house and looks about.

She sees the hardwood flooring covered with lavish Persian rugs, the crystal chandelier hanging in the foyer, the stairway curving to the next floor with an intricately carved banister with carved legs as if dragons were climbing each rail. The heavy velvet curtains upon the floor to ceiling windows, the fireplace with its hand picked stones laid out forming the many instruments that might be used by a bard of renown. The wall covered in shelves with rows upon rows of books by master authors. Here no short cuts had been taken, everything about the place showed the love and care of a guild that is proud and actively entertaining those about the boards. Its grandeur matched only by the halls of royalty or fame. Yet the comfort was afforded to each and every bard who would enter these halls. From the shyest to the most regal. It was a place for all!!!

WOW!!!! Agarak you out did yourself this time!!!

Vana is carrying a small covered bowl. She comes in and places it on the shelf near where many will sit to pass their time reading or just thinking. She pulls the cover off to reveal a small Betta bowl in the shape of a half moon. Inside a castle with twin spires. Swimming happily is a blue/teal betta of magnanimous hues. Bright and lively with fins that flow and billow out. Two small plants are beside the castle and the gravel is a green/blue mix.

This is my contribution to the guild house. I have named him Lord Hue because he is the Lord of his castle and his colors are such bright hues. I felt it was very befitting such a beautiful and calming fish. I hope you don't mind Master Erinhue.

Actually Hue we have one here that IS named Lord Hue and he does have a castle that he can swim through the tunnels under and through it. He is a deep blue to teal turquoise. Very cool fish and we bought it for our cat to watch since other cats tend to beat her up and we wanted her to have a friend. :D

Well, since it's a new house, I can't stay away for too long. I've got to make sure my spot by the fireplace is properly established.

And one of these days I'll actually post something significant...

I most likely misspelled it (I'm famous for that).

They're clear, alcoholic malts, a touch more alcoholic and way better than wine coolers. Think Mike's Hard Lemonade.

Mike's Hard Lemonade wouldn't have brought me any closer (don't forget I'm on another continent and all)... thank goodness Vana was able to translate!

btw, for what it's worth, way back when I had Russian forebears called Smirnoff. But I think they were a bit too posh to get into the vodka-making trade ;)

I prefer Polish vodka anyway, if I drink it at all. Zubrowka, with bison grass in it...

Yer talkin' vodka, you're talkin' my language. I used ta be an absolutly Absolute sort of guy but now I'm roaming all over the vodka landscape. Must admit I do not drink half as much as I used to and not even close to what I did when I was crazy. Scotch makes me sick, guess it might be because that is what the man who is my father drank. Yuck can't even take the smell of it. So I drink vodka Skool

Sounds like my dad, PB... but then, he is a teetotaller because there was an alcoholic in the family past there somewhere, so it makes sense. Dad almost had a conniption when he came over to my flat when I was 24 or so and saw a bottle of port lying down under my telephone table. Takes me FOREVER to get through a bottle of anything like that, and that includes offering to friends when they're over. I did try and reassure him... ;)

Actually, I'm a real occasional drinker, and am happy with one glass when I do have it. It's like wearing makeup, which I do so rarely that my lipstick gradually disintegrates

LOL! Yeah, I know THAT one.

Until I can get out on my own again, I'll just have to do without. I don't guess it'll hurt me.

No, the thing that gets me is that my dad isn't a teetotaler, he just wants everyone to think he is. And yes, he's a great big hip-po-crit in other areas too.

I've heard that tale before PB :|
But having my own place i now live by MY rules, and the only other poeple that have a say in my house are the two dogs. (They tend to just wag their tales which i take to be agreement with whatever i want to do  )

As far as my rules go it's my house, my drink and then my hangover :)

Dang, I missed the thread transfer again.

I generally don't drink very much. It often costs more than my wallet can spare, and I almost always have to drive myself home. On the occasions when I drink, I generally stick to rum and Coke or beer. Although I do have some yummy Mint Chocolate Bailey's sitting in my pantry that I got as a Christmas present. Mmm

Soooooo....... are we thinking of another festival for spring this year???

Lets see there is St. Paddy's Day next month as well as Easter coming up too. Or should we set our sites on something just a little farther ahead like Beltane (May 1st)???

I know we are heading into a time when Master Hue will be busy coming up with his yearly budget or something of that sort. So he wont be around much for about two months. :D That is the reason I mentioned waiting for Beltane.
