The Bards' Guild - Let's Sing It One More Time

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Che,
Never fret of your occasional blacker moods. You are our Guild Master, but more importantly, you are a friend to all of us. Friend, mentor, brother, however one wishes to call it. We are family. A loosely knit, easily distracted type of family but family still.

When you see Dan doing summat that is as your Cyn would have, delight in it. It's how she lives on. Share stories about sillier times and let Dan be that shoulder you need at times. Let this serve as a night spent talking and a little drinking with a friend and that kick in the posterior you need now and then. You have the grands to tell stories now, and in time Dan's children will need those same stories.

Orion tipped a growler of Troegenator to fill a number of tall glasses of a rich dark beer to let all assembled take one and lift it high. To our dear Hue's Lady Cyn. A fine lady the like of which we may not meet again in the Age. And to Hue, friend, mentor, brother to us.

HR you hit the nail on the head.

We are a family and family supports each other and understands when we hurt. We all hurt together and we do not feel bad when you feel the hurt of separation from your LoYL!

Honestly I think we would worry if you did not have memories at this time of year and share them with us.

Hue, Master Bard and friend, know that our hearts are attune to yours this time of year and only wish the best of things for you. It was very evident to me in the few talks we had in the beginning that The LOYL was your Luthien and you her Beren. I still believe that and know that when the time is come, you two shall be joined once more in the heavens. Do not rush your time for that is not her wish, but cherish the time you have here with your son and daughter and grand babies. Make memories to share with her when you rejoin so that she can see through your eyes the miracle that is life of the little ones that came after!

An eternity in the stars is a lovely way to see life. I know the Cherokee value the heavens for not only its beauty and wonder but for the stories that they tell.

We are here but for a whisper in time and then we are a part of the tales that our children and their children to follow them will tell. Leave a wonderful story behind and loving memories with those who have known you and theirs who will only get the chance in stories of love.

I think the last time I was here, Vana had two rings.

I remember that once upon a time, I was on the Bard's Guild list. I was privileged to be accepted because despite the fact that I am no longer A Simple Poet (name's Will ... or Baron Prometheus, if you're more daring) I consider myself a bard in the storytelling sense of things.

Of course, I'm not a very GOOD bard, because as a novelist I've precious little output to my name after 20 years of trying. I'm trying to change all that without fading back into obscurity and suicidal type depression that has dogged me lo these many years. Novel writing is becoming sort of like my religion. Dark Fantasy fiction, more specifically. I receive no support for this ambition aside from polite smiles by my real world contemporaries who are still just waiting for Will to go off his nut. So they indulge me until they can escape. Blessed is the writer who has support from other like minded persons.

And with the Scriptorum gone dry (I'm attempting new efforts to change that), I've come back here. :)

So can you handle a prodigal bard in need of camraderie and a laugh?

Splendid. Delighted to hear it. So what's been going on at TORC? Aside from the sadness with Vison. I know about that. Where IS everyone? :?

Welcome back ASP and jilbo. ASP, I remember fairly well. At least, I've known you were here for a while. Jilbo... sorry to say while your name is familiar, not much else rings a bell. But be welcome both of you.

We need to get that new festival running soon, else even the OTHER holiday that is a month away will be upon us and we cannot allow this to happen.

ASP is dead. You can call me Will. It comes from deciding to be a novelist and not a poet and not wanting to forfeit my post count.

Well, there's always the Christmas Field I have solely kept that tradition going. Some help this year would be nice and would help the bards get back into practice, then we could do a festival in the new year.

If anyone's interested, I've started the Christmas Field thread. It's open to all, not just Bards, so spread the word.

So where is the Christmas Field thread? I was looking in Talk, but didn't find it there. I know it's been a LONG time since I ventured to that field.

I don't know what we could do...

Did you mean in the Christmas Field? The thing with the Christmas Field, is within the borders, "Christmas Magic makes literally anything you imagine (only good things) possible. And every post of any decent size usually includes a Christmas song. So just come and interact. I have more I want to post with my kids, but I'm afraid to post after myself too many times. Any more questions?

Oh you're fine. It's mainly to show what's playing during your action, as if it were the musical score of the RP, and since you hadn't made to the Field yet.... No need.

PB, about that Christmas Field thread. I have a question. Is there some time limit on posts? It appears that action moves very fast here and if you don't respond fast enough you could lose your chance to respond. I apologize that my schedule left a day or so between posts. The reason I ask is because I probably would have had a response of my own from one or both participating in the thread. I more than likely would not have responded in that way to children welcoming me and I certainly didn't mean to interfere if this was possibly a pre-planned storyline between you and HR.

No big deal, but perhaps its just a style of corroborative writing I am not familiar with :)

Edit:

Actually this gives me a good opportunity to go ahead and write myself away since I am not going to have much time with the holidays approaching fast. I also don't want to hold anyone up. :)

Write on bards! :)

Oh, no, Jilbo! It wasn't planned and it doesn't usually move so fast. I hate that you feel unwelcome!

I didn't intend for Orion to help shoo, the donkey, I meant for Beryl to have a chance to interact with Mac. I'm sorry that didn't work out. :( I've left you another hook if you choose to take off with it.

I had the girls run off because they're a little shy, but Heather's intention was that they stay around and talk. If Jilbo would have called after them they would have come back.

Feel free to run into and use any of the kids you want to, until I can politely get free of Orion. Please don't feel that you have to leave. I sometimes have trouble keeping up too.

It wasn't pre-planned at all, Jilbo. Do stay in the field. Orion may hang about the field a while or even come and welcome you to the festivities. But things like the Christmas Field are very free form and order rarely occurs.

No worries :) You did not make me feel unwelcome PB, that was only a hobbit reacting in a strange place to the unknown. And Mac being Mac when he is not the center of attention

I was mostly confused when you had Jilbo speak out to them since that is not what I am used to. Thus, it seemed better to remove myself now in case it gets much more in depth. I really am going to be terribly busy with the holidays so my posting would be sporadically limited and I should have realized that before posting. I appreciate the hook but its not necessary

Thanks to you both for clearing up the confusion. :D

Hue, I'm a little late for your Nov post, but I'm praying for you and you family. Always seems like the ones God wants to use are the ones that get challenged the most.
I'm praying my family through a lot of challenges right now too. I feel where you are. My parents a lot more so though for the last 7 months.

Merry Christmas y'all! :)

The light of the Christmas star to you
The warmth of home and hearth to you
The cheer and good will of friends to you
The hope of a childlike heart to you
The joy of a thousand angels to you
The love of the Son and God’s peace to you.
