The House of Queen Berúthiel - The Cat-Lovers Guild (Part 3)

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Morwenna, one thing you might think about is adopting an older cat. Also, does Mackie seem lonely? If he seems content, I wouldn't change the status quo unless a cat finds you. ;)

Licorice is the first cat I've ever had who wants to sleep under covers sometimes, with me, and will pay with the toilet paper roll.
I think I actually finally got a normal cat...except he doesn't meow much, he still squeaks and trills.

We had Spring like weather over the weekend.
Prior to that nothing but gray and rain.
During the gray and rain, by girls "hibernated".
But when the sun came out,
They spent all the day in the garage looking out the window.
Pawsha kept looking for "her" tent. :D

Now the sun is gone again
And they are sleeping.
Ohhh, to be a cat.

I just wanted to stop in and tell you all something that happened to an online blog person I follow...

If you've read Epbot you've read about the writer's cats, Lily and Tonks.

Yesterday she blogged about Tonks...Tonks developed a fast-moving cancer and they had to say goodbye about a month ago. Then Lily stopped eating, nearly died and they spent Easter in the vet's office with her. She pulled through and was doing really well...until today, when she also passed to the Rainbow Bridge.

Needless to say, Jen and John are devastated. They cannot have children, so Lily and Tonks were their kids. And Lily was Jen's special friend, helping her deal with some pretty serious anxiety and agoraphobia.

So if y'all can say a prayer, send good thoughts and, if you have a funny/cute to share to make them smile, head over to Epbot.com or the Facebook page, I know they'd appreciate it.

And give your furbabies a hug. :( :)

Saved a cat tonight.

Here's a copy of what I wrote on Facebook, but I'm also going to elaborate a bit so it's a little more detailed:

On my way to Clearfield this evening and, as I was passing a house where there are several cats that run loose, I looked into her yard and saw one of them hunched by her car...and something looked wrong. I stopped and backed up to take another look...the poor thing had a can caught on her head. Well, I just couldn't let that be. I put on the four-ways and went over to her and tried to pull the can off. No dice. I picked her up and she tried to fight me, but she was tired and terrified. I tried to wiggle the cant off again, still wouldn't come off...it was stuck with the sharp edge digging into her ears and throat. I took her to the house, but the owner didn't have anything I could use on it...I think she probably didn't have any idea where the scissors or pliers were, or didn't quite understand what I was asking for...and added that she was surprised I could hold the cat "because they're all wild." Still cradling her in my arms I went to my car...I knew I had something in there that would work, I just didn't know what. I found that I still had my jewelry tools that I use for Metal Earth models. No snipping tool, but I pulled out a pair of needle nose pliers and started pinching the sharp edge of the can. The whole time I'm talking to her and telling her she's going to be okay. The woman (I know her and her family, but it took a bit before she realized who I was) brought out her phone and a pair of garden shears (good lord). I tried to call mom and have her bring some heavy-duty scissors, but couldn't get her. So I decided I was just going to have to figure it out, so I sat down and kept using to pliers. The cat started struggling and I tugged on the can (I'd gotten an ear free by this point) and it popped off. I was rewarded with the cat twisting in my arms to claw my face, and then she took off like a shot. Very little damage done to me and I don't think she's hurt bad either.

Looked inside the can...the woman hadn't rinsed it out and just put it out in the garbage...either the cat ripped into the bag or the bag wasn't closed right.

I'm worried about Zavie.

He didn't eat his breakfast this morning, and that's not like him.

Zavie is my hobbit kitty---he'd eat ten times a day if I'd feed him. So his not eating has me concerned.

Especially since I have to leave soon, and I'll be gone all day, so I won't get to keep an eye on him. :(

I said a little prayer for him, LK. Let us know how he is!

My boys are all good. I still need to get Licorice his rabies shot. I took him the other day and they were closed. :( Poop. So we'll have to try again soon.

Thanks Iris! It must have worked. :D

I no sooner walked in the door this evening, than he was demanding I feed him. Now. Right now. Like immediately if not sooner.

He gobbled down his portion, finished off Nim's, and now he's just gone back for seconds.

So I'm thinking he's OK! :D :D

Hmmm, I haven't been getting email notifications for this.

Happy to hear Zavie is doing better.

My girls are good.
The weather is great and their tent is up.
My oldest likes to sit on the patio and play his video games
So, he puts them in the tent and they just soak up the warm.
I have an old sheet over half the tent so they get a bunch of shade
And the tent is make of mesh.

Rascal doesn't do the tent at all
But she's good at taking Kitty Naps in the bedrooms.

Love to the babies....

Wonderful news, LK! :happydance:

Calma: I saw a picture the other day that made me think of you and your "kids." It was a picture of one of those cat tents and a long mesh tunnel from the house to the tent, crossing the deck and half the yard to under a big tree. I thought, Calma's girls would so go for that!

All I have to say is: "Pawsha tent...."
And she runs right for the zippered door and into the tent.
Pawkah, on the other hand, likes to take her time getting there.
We've nicknamed her "Pawk-De-Leon" because she has to explore everything on the way.

The other day it was sunny and warm, but there was a nice, cool breeze blowing.

I had the curtains pushed back and the windows open. There was a large patch of sunshine hitting the middle of the bed.

Nim was all stretched out on the bed soaking up the sun but also getting the benefit of the breeze.

The best of both worlds.
