Anyone know what to do about a crazy attack kitten? It's been 13 years and I'm at a loss. Every time I see Rob, he has new scars. I mean, some serious biting!

Our previous cat was a biter, and the only thing that seemed to make an impression (sorry the pun) was when I bit her in return. She would look surprisd, and be better behaved for a few days.

Welcome to the Guild, portia... :D
You bit your cat?
When my sister was little, she was a biter.
That is until my mother bit her back.
Never did it again....

Iris, the only thing I can think of is a spray bottle.
Have it handy and squirt right in the face with water each time the bite happens.
Should make the cat stop and think about it.
And maybe after a few wet faces it might stop.

Rob's kitten decided to chew on my glasses the other night. I shouldn't have taken them off to begin with, but I never thought he'd think they were yummy! So, it's off to the eye doctor today to see if they can be buffed...

Iris, when Liri was a kitten she bit my glasses. Still have the teeth marks, mostly because my eyes haven't changed enough to make it worth the price of new glasses.

And I don't know how she did it, but Liri managed to get herself shut up in the linen closet yesterday. So, of course, she slept on our (Lan and me) extra sheets and now they're covered with cat hair. Which is a slight problem since Lan is actually allergic to cats. He's become accustomed to Liri, so it's not bad now but cat hair all over the sheets isn't helpful. So now I get to wash them again.

I guess it's about time I came out from under the chair and made my loyalties known.

Cat lover because cats are better survivalists.put a domesticated cat and dog in the wild and the cat goes back to it's roots, on the other hand the dog is toast without a human around to feed it. I like dogs but cats more also because there are a lot less weird varieties of cat around then dogs.

Anywho, may I join the guild and help protect the dignity of our furry lieges? ;)

I've been reading archives of the comic "9 chickweed lane" and have been laughing hard over the authors hallmarks of felinity.

Thanks

I'm actually suffering from kitty withdrawal. Living in an apartment we are not allowed pets and my wife is not a big pet person, which considering the pets that are out there I guess I'm just lucky she isn't a something-weird-person.

I haven't had good feline company for a good long time. It's sad. I was reading one of the hallmarks of felinity just yesterday and found myself in the most nostalgic or reminiscings about how when you get a kitten (and a good number of cats) they can extend their claws to penetrate even the thickest of blankets in pursuit of a foolishly wiggled toe. *sigh* good times.... ish

Welcome Quimrill!!

Yes kittehs can get deep into the fun of playing with a wiggling toe under a blanket. :Q But I love my kitteh!!!

Last night as we were getting into bed about midnight, China climbed in beside me like she always does but I see something in her fur on her leg. IT WAS A FLEA!!!!! DRAT!!!

So tonight I flea treated her and will treat the entire house in the morning since it is my day off and I was able to get supplies for this. I hate fleas not because they give my kitteh fits but because they chew on me like raw meat!! China is now mad at me for putting Advantage on her. She is indoors only so we must have brought it in on our pants from the yard. She hasn't even been scratching so we must be catching this quickly. I sure hope so at least! So now the battle begins and I know I will win cause I have the experience and the expertise to do the job from times before. Egads I hate fleas and the expense of controlling them.

Priority 3: Get the wife to pick out said new kitteh!!! Be sure that she sees some very cute and sweet loving babie kittehs!!!! ;)

I fortunately have not had to fight with fleas with my cats.... knock on wood. It must be the colder climate up north or something.

Iris, I can't believe I've never heard of Simon's Cat before, but now I shall sit here for hours and watch every single one.

The only problem (and I shudder saying the word "problem" because we all know that kittens are perfect and absolutely flawless) with kittens is that their claws and teeth are especially needle sharp and while kitty love has callused my hands beyond feeling those little pinpricks of affection my wife is not so blind :P I'm working on her though. I believe I can sway her and I know that if once she gets to know a kitten she will come over from the dark side.

Y'know, Vana, there is some stuff you can put around your front porch or door and back door that will keep the fleas at bay. Put it around your yard, too. You could ask your Vet or maybe look about where you work.

Quill, I'm sure you can bring your lady into the light. :D
When that happens, don't want to rush her, you know, we do expect to see cute pictures immediately. :D

Thanks Calma, I will have to speak to my vet cause I don't know of anything at my work that is like that. Hmmm....... sounds hopeful!

Quim do you mind if I ask where up north you are? We are in the Pacific Northwest and it does not get cold enough here for long enough to kill the rotten bugs off.

Well right now I am down south in Florida finishing up my masters and teaching, but when I am through I hope to return home to Alaska to where my hert truly lies. Even though the summers are usually fairly warm we really don't have many of the critters that scurry around down here up there just because the winters are sometimes harsh.

Calma, the instant I can convince the missus to get a menue'sha I shall indeed post some photos

I'm moving with you, Qwill!

Seriously, though...probably not. I love PA too much.

I forgot to get flea stuff yesterday...it was a little crazy at the vets. I had to schedule an appointment for our dog...she was peeing blood. My dad took her in later in the day and they found cancer. :( It's on her bladder and they said at her age there's nothing they can do. She's 16...or 102...and she'd never survive surgery or anything like. They said probably a month or so. :cry2:

Oh, I'm so sorry Iris!! :( There is something about when a dog comes to the end of their life that is especially heart wrenching. At least she lived to a very ripe old age. What breed if I may ask. I have had many dogs and cats during my life and its always hard to say good buy.

Iris you are more than welcome up in Alaska. There is plenty of room and it is probably one of the most beautiful/picturesque states just as far as nature scenery goes. Besides that, after three years of residency you get the PFD (permanent fund dividend).

How About I come visit PA? I have a college buddy who used to live there and he kept threatening to take me deer hunting. I haven't cashed i on the invite yet, but now he's moved out of the state.

Vana, I hope I'm moving back up to Alaska soon. My one and only is from Southern Cali thought and would freeze in the winter. Despite that I'm hoping to convince her so we can move closer to my family.
I remember Mungo! I had forgotten about him.
I am especially yearning to get back to Juneau. Its the AK town for the lightweights. Not to hot in summer and not too cold in winter. Up int the interior around Fairbanks is where you get the cliche Alaskan weather and temperatures.

Thanks, Calama, Qwill. :) I've decided to save the tears until the last and then sob my heart out. I cried a bit Wednesday over the shock of it.

She's a Springer Spaniel. We've had our ups and downs with her...she's bit all three of us pretty seriously (me twice) and we've had to be very careful with her with other people. But she's also been a sweetheart. She would have been put down if we hadn't taken her...she has a crooked leg that was broken and not fixed when she was a puppy. then we got her, nutty mutt. :D

Qwill, you're more than welcome to come to PA. I don't hunt, so I won't be dragging to off to do so. I do know how to shoot a rifle and a pistol, and I go to our church's wild game dinner each year, but I'm careful what I eat. (I'm not big on venison, but I like the jerky. Bear is pretty good, tastes like beef. Seriously.) I live near State College too. :D

Got a call from the vet last night and I have to up Okun's insulin again. It's the new stuff, so we're starting the adjustment all over again.

Iris I am sorry to hear about your dog's cancer. It is rough having two pets with health issues. I hope the new stuff works for Okun this time and you can find a dose that works well all the time. :D

Quim I have never been to Alaska and it might well be the cold that has kept me away. I don't do well with colder weather and that is why I live in such a temperate climate where I am. I can handle the rain and some cooler temps but the extremes from lows in the winters to highs in the summer are not extreme here. Where I was born and raised the extremes are from -minus temps to over 100. That is too extreme for me at my age and for my well being. Where I am now is about 50 degrees from lows to highs.

Bear I've never had. I hadn't heard the tastes like beef thing. I might just have to try it. Moose tastes like beef, and that's the honest truth. My mother, bless her heart, likes to make jerky out of all manner of things. Moose jerky is especially good too, but you have to have the right marinating mix of spices and sauces.

Iris, Springer Spaniels are a very cute dog, and one that actually has a purpose and is historically useful. I have to say I'm not that fond of the modern breed of dogs that are really small and hairy (or not hairy at all  ).
Alrighty, I'm coming to visit, see you tomorrow :D

Vana, you would not like fairbanks! :P Record low is -78 degrees and record high is somewhere up in the 100 teens. But again that town is up in central Alaska where you don't get any regulating breezes from the water. Its very flat. Juneau is more temperate but you can get 100 degree differences occasionally.
