The Goth Guild

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

I was using the box that my boots came in the other day to store some papers in and I read what it said. These are Response Gear boots. They are the kind of boots that search and rescue, paramedics, EMTs and police wear I guess. Or the kind and quality for those kinds of duties. I do really like them a lot too. They are very comfortable.

Aerin your outfit sounds smashing! Wal*Mart huh?? I just might have to go shopping to see what they would have here.;)

Does anyone else think that Gothing up for a rendition of Britney Spears' "Oops, I Did It Again" would be fun? Red plaid, lots of black, darker makeup (READ: no pink), knee boots, those devil-horns you can get for Halloween.....

Well Gothing/Punking ANYTHING by "The Spears" would be an improvement to it.  One thing I would add to the outfit (after watching the Seether/Amy Lee video for "Broken" given to me by a certain someone: a pair of black feather angel wings.

Although I recall one or two songs by her that are halfway decent and actually have some signifigant meaning besides being an excuse for Spears to prance about half naked:

Overprotected (from her 3rd album)

What you see is what you get (2nd album)

Aerin I think it would be fun to do. Must have the horns!

Okay, how's this for the outfits (male and female):

Male: Bulky black pants, jeans or cargoes. Big boots, possibly Army-style. Black fishnet shirt, long-sleeve. Red or black tank top, maybe satin or some soft fabric? Heavy spiked choker. Black or bright hair (purple, blue, something like that), spiked. Black feather wings. Assorted rings. Studded black leather belt.

Female: Black cargo pants, not tight but not as bulky as the guy's. Black knee boots, lace up. Red plaid top, tank or halter. Black wristcuffs on both wrists. Red choker, silk or velvet (if wearing the tank top). Black or Gwen Stefani-blonde hair, long, pulled into a high ponytail. Red devil's horns. Various rings.

Makeup for both: Minimal. Black eyeliner, dark shadow. Some lipstick, man's black, woman's red. Black nail polish for both.

What do you think?

My own alterations to your Male design:
Keep the pants and the boots. Make sure the pants are a slightly lighter shade of black than the boots. Fishnet top, long sleeve. Colored PVC/vinyl top. Wrist sweatbands, with embroidered barbed wire on them.
Hair can even be white blond or silver, but it should match/ go with the top. Instead of the heavy spiked chokers, give them black leather collars with bright stainless studs.

Shouldn't really have a black tank top along with the black feathered wings. It'd be hard to really see the wings then.

Just thinking that the girl singing is the main feature so, as such, she should be able to draw a little more attention than the guys.

Hello! I've debated about dropping in here for a long time...

I've been acused of being Goth, though I'm not sure I'd really ever put myself in that category. Not that I'm against the whole Goth thing, but I don't think I'm mainly Goth. Mainly I'm just me.

However, I tend to dress in very dark colors (black, blue, purple, bloodred, green), loose clothes, a chain necklace with a piercework picture of my parrot, a wallet chain, a silver cuff bracelet (my Tlingit ID ;)), and wide-band ring or two sometimes. I've never worn makeup. I also have straight, waist-length hair that's naturally black-brown with a silvery-grey sheen (not going grey or anything. I'm in highschool). Plus I have a soft spot in my heart for grotesque monsters and aliens everywhere, and tend to draw, paint, and sculpt them (I think my art teacher's mind has been broadened...). I am, as several of you already know, completely obsessed with werewolves.

Plus I often hang out with technicolor-haired, black-tenchcoat-wearing people who would not hesitate to declare themselves punk/goth and throw themselves into a mosh pit. So I guess I'm Goth by association. Does that count for joining this guild? :)

--Aiwe

And BTW--Berhael's Goth Quiz said I was a Deathrocker/punk first time, a Denial Goth second time. I think the second fits me rather closer  but since I had never heard of any of the bands listed except that I knew there was some singer named Marlyn Manson...

Welcome to the Goth Guild, Aiwe! I'll warn you right off we're not the most talkative of guilds, and days/weeks can go by without any posts. Right now, as you can tell, we're on the subject of Gothing out one of Britney Spears' songs - Oops I Did It Again. Lots of fun! =:)

Welcome Aiwe, to the darker side of TORC.

And don't feel bad about your quiz scores. I got the "denial Goth" at least twice. Even when I TRIED to change my answers... But I much prefer the term "Stealth Goth".

Unfortunately I have to work on Halloween! But I will be off early enough to still enjoy the night. Or most of it. I am spending it again with my beloved. We may dress up very goth and stroll around and bug folks. :D We are in the mood to shock some people. :P

Can't believe I haven't posted in this guild since June of '03! :Q
I'm working graveyard in the cage of one of our local casinos now, so my work uniform is basic black with rhinestone cuffs and collar. Love it! a little burgundy lip color and some midnight purple nail polish, and I'm still conservative enough for the midnight to dawn Behind-the-bars posse. As long as I keep my tats and piercings out of sight  .
Since everyone is used to seing me in nothing but variations on a black theme, on Samhain night I'm going all white. Tattered white victorian promenade dress and hat, with dusty white roses, and grey white net and lace elbow length gloves and overlay on the dress. White buttonhook boots, and white makeup on my hands and face. the only black will be the crackle finish on the nail polish. :thppt:
P.S took the quiz. came up "Perky Cyber Goth" eeek! I do not wear Plastic clothes!!! yuck! :lightening:

Thanks! :D

I was born on Halloween. I always dress up, but lack of time and funding makes me think I'll have to settle for re-"vamping" my ringwraith getup that scares the heck out of impressionable freshmen.

I'm thinking custom copper talon rings, and possibly a coper wolvish mask (think Anubis Guards from Stargate). Can't wait to start torching stuff in art class. :D Eeek, too much imagination and too little time!

I can't do too much for Halloween, as it's on a Sunday - no classes. But hopefully I'll be dressing up (if my dress comes through in time), and the caf is doing a "Halloween Dinner" with a pumpkin-carving contest. Oh, and there's a hypnotist performing that night.

Vana, glad you like the dress and the site! I've had the site linked for ages, enjoy just going through it and imagining what I'd get if I had the money..... then some extra money came in for me and I decided to treat myself. ;) Best news of all, I just got a shipping email today, and it's expected to come in on Wednesday, plenty of time for Halloween! :)

All this talk of shopping and looking at my wardrobe for halloween items has me now planning on going down to one of my local rock/goth/costume shops for some serious credit card abuse!

Aerin that would be awesome to get it in time.

Cooky you make me smile. Thank you, I wish I could help you shop. I would love to go on a shopping spree and say "Charge it". Unfortunately then the bill comes in and you have to face the payment. :P

Now that I am working again it wont be long and I will get to go do some shopping for some cool clothes again.

Oh, Vana, the dress came in today! It's so gorgeous - even more so than in the picture - and it fits me perfectly. I can get in and out of it without having to worry about the laces. The skirt is so long (almost too long) and sweeping, it's very full and could easily accommodate a petticoat underneath. So for Halloween this year I'll be a sweet Scottish lass, with dark hair and somewhat pale skin.

Hey folks, been a while.
But guess what? I found the best shop in the world! If anyone's ever near Bath, should definately check it out. It's called Shrinking Violet, it's the best goth shop I ever saw, and I'm including Camden in that. I can just see my student loan going straight in there. Yestarday I was only going into town to pay a cheque in and I ended up buying 10 pairs of thigh-high stripy socks. And a beret. Oh dear.

I shall be doing my own Samhain ritual as usual, might get some peace since my flatmates are goin to a party. One is going as Saddam, it's scarily convincing.

Congrats again Vana!

*sighs* You Londoners are so lucky, you have so many Gothic shops around. For me, there's only Hot Topic - and while it's great, it's not enough. :( (That said, I just bought another top there yesterday - a lovely pale blue with black roses, very feminine.)
