Powers of Arda- A Rebirth(Now Open And Awaiting New Members!)

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Istari left the two to speak amongst themselves. There was still much to be done within the Haven. Before the guests had arrived, he had found a room in the lower levels of the Haven, it was dark, containing no holder for a torch. With a candle, he discovered rivets in the walls resembling runes much like the ones that displayed themselves in his own quarters. He lifted his candle before him now, walking through the halls and corridors. After a while he found his desination, a dead end. Smooth arches curved over a rather curious tapestry. Within was a man, most like a scholar, a parchment in his hand. A furrowed brow suggested intense concentration. By his look, Istari thought him to be an archetect. Maybe the archetect of this Haven? He held his hand over the picture, smiling as he spoke,

"Edro!"

Funny how simple the password was to remove the protective ward! It had taken Istari a few hours to find the key... Now the tapestry was engulfed in silver-blue flame, rippling like a liquid mirror before him. Lines etched themselves upon the surface of the white walls reflected behind the mirror, and the door was revealed.

It opened easily with a push revealing inside a small room at first glance. Yet a look above showed that the roof was out of the reach of his small candle's light. That was not what attracted him this night. Before him lay a podium like table in the center of the room. Istari rested the candle upon it, revealing a small square depression upon it. Below it was a circle, where a small sphere could be inserted. Sifting through his pockets, Istari found the marble he had discovered in one of the courtyards just a few nights ago. Deftly he inserted it into the divet.

Immediately felt the power flowing from the central altar, for that was what it definitely was. Light issued forth, trailing in lines through the floor an filling the runes with blue light. The room was taller than he expected, reaching up to heights so that he could see only a small circle of ceiling. It was then that he realized that the room was a puzzle, composed of a thousand pieces to choose from. By the size of each rune, it seemed that only a dozen would fit in the square.

He surveyed the array of figures, trying to guess which combonation would do anything. A unconscious point brought a rune before him, spinning into the first slot in the square. So, at least he didn't have to take them out manually. He picked the twelve he wanted, pointing them in the order he wished. Soon the puzzle was complete.

As the last piece fit, the runes within the room were extinguished save the ones before him. A beam of white light emitted from the altar, rising to till it was halfway to the roof. Suddenly, the podium rose, bringing him high above the ground in a matter of seconds. As he reached the end. A door opened silently, revealing another room. Within was an orb, resting upon a soft pillow. Curiously, he walked within, bending to pick up the orb. It seemed to be clear, yet black inside. What was it? On the way down, he studied it, finding no use for the jewel-like globe. He had still not found out its purpose when he left the rune filled room, removing the marble from the podium.

Soon he was in the central hall, feeling the warmth of the huge candle on his face. Suddenly, the orb lit up, shimmering with an intensity that was astounding. The whole room was lit up easily within. It floated lightly out of his hands, slipping into a small hole in the cieling, fading as it went impossibly high. For a second, it looked as if its light had failed, when suddenly, the whole of the Haven was lit up with golden light. It flowed through holes within the halls, reflected from the central stone by a set strategicly placed mirrors within the walls. A ring appeared on his finger, a simple band with small mirrors set into its silver. He removed it to get a good look upon it, but found that the lights went out as a result. So this was why this place was named the Haven of the Light...

How long had she been sitting there, facing the flames, her mind drifting? Lossë had no answer for that but she knew what had awoken her: a brightening of the flames, almost a flare, though there seemed to be no change in heat.

Curious as to what had caused the increase in light Lossë turned towards the door and halted abruptly at what she saw there. He appeared to be a great Lord of Elves by the radience of his being but his clothes...Lossë gaped, shocked and awed at once and she began to go to her knees but the figure grasped her hands to draw her back to her feet.

"Do not," he said and Lossë blinked in surprise and confusion. "Never have I allowed such foolishness from any who desired to learn from me and I will not allow it now." Seeing the elf maid's confusion grow Aulé chuckled. "You are thinking that you have not yet made your decision am I right? But you have! You made it with every gift that you gave, each link of chain or stroke of brush declared your choice, even before you knew there was a choice to be made. And your desire manifested itself in the abilities of young Hwesta, her conjuring of gems and stones."

"I am not just Master of the Forge as you should know. Your own family's history is caught up in mine, I have seen the Silmarills, the very one that your forefather wears upon his brow I have touched. What the dwarves know and what they have forgotten they learned from me. Even what Sauron knew was learned from me to the sorrow of Middle Earth."

"I don't-" Lossë stopped and shook her head. "How did you come here?"

"Your cousin, Istariquendi, has solved the puzzle that was set to him and his doing so opened a path for me. I cannot stay long so I need you to bring this to him," so saying Aulé placed a scroll into Lossë's hands. "It contains most of the rune-patterns for the room that he found. There are still some that he must find on his own of course, it would be too easy to give him all the commands."

When the Valar withdrew his hands Lossë felt something other than the scroll resting in her palm and looked down. It was a flower carved of opal, but such a blossom was never grown in Middle Earth! "It is Súlótë, Windblossom in the Common tounge. A fitting gift for a poet and bard such as yourself."

"I must leave you now but we shall meet again before the end. May you always walk in the light, Child of Iluvatar." And with those words he faded away leaving Lossë staring at the spot where he had stood. She shook her head, not quite able to comprehend all that had just passed, and went to find Istari and tell him what had happened. Maybe he would understand better than she did.

Istari was still studying the ring upon his finger, noting intracate designs that seemed quite impossible for even elven hands to make. It was as if hands the size of a grain of sand had engraved a set of swirling lines that constructed a larger curve into the silver metal. Upon its surface was set tiny opals, shimmering with a different light each time he moved his hand. It was incredible, endowed with mystical energy that connected it to the globe within the Haven. He would have to go to that Rune Room tomorrow night. Who knew what secrets it contained?

It was then, as he walked into the halls that he ran into his cousin, Lossëfalme. A look of wonder was on her face, and what appeared to be a scroll in her hands. Istari didn't recognize the parchment, having looked through the vast library he had found somewhere in the Haven, then again there might be another one somewhere.

"Hail Lossë!" he said warmly. "How do you fare this eve? Do you find your lodgings suitable?"

'The Hand of Fate? Or am I simply a tool of others?'

His head was in his hands, and he shook it despairingly; the time of rhetoric was fast nearing it's end. Succeeding it would be the time for action.

He arose, and stretched languidly. But that time had not come yet. Right now, he should find a meal, and acquaint himself with his host and fellow companions.

(OOC- Sorry this is so short... *From the depths of a rohdydendron bush two eyes peered out upon the gathered. They were large and bright. They seemed to laugh, and indeed, laughter was to be heard. Soft but hearty, it rang out from the bush in a wave that rose into a great cresendo at a slender figure appeared.

"Good eve, my friends of old!" cried the figure, who, it was plain to see, was none other than GT, the Lady of the Wild Flowers. "It would seem that we have once more sturck up the fire of our merry little guild!"

She twirled into the light, and embraced Istari, then danced away, leaving a trail of sweetly scented daisies.*

Istari felt the soft arms wrap lovingly about his body. The soft fragrance of blossoms filled his nostrils as a light whisper breathed into his ear. All the signs pointed to Galadriel.

"Dear Lady of Blossoms!" He said aloud. "Where do you go so quickly?"

An old friend would be great indeed to see once more. He wished others would follow their lead...

"To join the faeries in their song," GT laughed, twirling and leaping toward a grove of great wild rose hedges, where lights glimmered oh so delicatly. From the lights floated the most melodious sound, and soon GT's soft voice joined the chorus, and the song lifted and fell in waves, enchanting and ensnaring all that heard. GT laughed again, and danced about the bushes, dew drops showering from her long hair.

Istari laughed to himself as Galadriel danced gaily among the bushes. The tiny lights that glimmered about her slight form were the sprites that inhabited Middle-earth. Curious beings those were...

"Well, when your song is over, and may that be far away, there are quarters in the east wing." He said. "Remain young, dear lady." He whispered as he left, heading for the east wing himself. Before each occupied door, he placed materials for making a candle. Wax, basin, wick, coloured dyes, and some tools to carve a personal touch in them. The Powers would need them in the morning as he inducted them into the Haven.

GT smiled, yawned, and followed Istari to the east wing, where she found a door that led to a most wonderful room. The walls were high, with pillars rising into the air like great trees. She stepped lightly over the mossy floor towards a great bed, strewn with delicate rose petals and surrounded by large curtains. She shyly climbed under the covers. THey were soft, and warm, and enveloped her into their embrace. SHe was asleep in moments.

A feminine version of what Mithamarth had been wearing. She also noticed a candle and a carving tool. She picked it up and slowly began carving a moon and star out of the soft wax. Like unto her smaller kindred she was, yet closer in size to human form. Light was her footstep upon the path. The sense of power was strong in this place - as was the feeling of welcome.
