Fantasy Warriors Reborn!

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Fantasy Warriors Reborn!

Postby Fantasy_Warriors » Thu Mar 27, 2003 1:55 am

Welcome to the guild of Fantasy Warriors and the Hall of Riders:
Originally started and run by mekilno1 - Our Guild Master. :)
Now aided by the Guild Caretakers: Skyfiery, Híril, Grey~Elf and Esgalgondwen. (See the list of Warriors further down in this post for more information regarding the master & caretakers).

Please note that all OOC notes should be posted here:
Fantasy Warriors Reborn OOC Thread
Please also join the following Yahoo group, which will be used in the future for OOCs as TORC is phasing out OOC threads in the Alliances & Guilds section:

Foot warriors- Talula, Legolas_Ringelf
Trainees - Eruresto, Findolan, Heather (and everyone else as soon as you make your first post)

Choose your unit, and then work to be promoted!

__________________________________________________________

Original Rules and Guidelines:

Each rank only relates to your status, not what unit you are in. (e.g. a craftsman can still be ranked as an Archer.)

To be promoted you must show yourself worthy of the post, by proving yourself in battle etc. The only requirements are that you be good with your chosen weapon, and that you have a fertile imagination! Choose your unit, then report to the former trainees, who have become the guild-caretakers.

We are in no particular time period. Though currently our RP is taking place Post-War of the Ring (Forth Age of Middle-Earth). We are all fighting a common enemy, though we may have a few bouts between ourselves.
Warriors have a choice of weapons, but your preferred weapon means that if you get promoted high enough, you become either first or second in that weapon (e.g. First Bow or Second sword).

Now then - are we all assembled? Good. Then let’s go out to the training ground. Mekilno leads the rabble out to the training ground, and makes them stand in a neat line. To the left is a long row of stalls. Those are your beast's stables. They are empty. Your first task is to find, capture, tame and name a beast. Please - be ORIGINAL! (i.e - Dragon Lords - original names. Others - no boring steeds - please!)

=Important Notice to all New Members=

Due to some circumstances, in which the guild caretakers may be occupied by certain events within the RP story and will therefore be unable to instruct a new joining member’s character within the RP; it has been decided that in order for this Guild to work properly, all those who wish to join are to follow the basic rules (See Above) and shall when entering the RP be introduced to the Guild by it’s resident RP keeper, Tindrock (played by any able caretaker) when all other RP caretakers are unable to instruct within the story.

Please check above: ‘Caretakers and Teachers currently available’ when first entering, to see which of those are on hand to instruct new members into the guild. When none are available, don’t worry, Tindrock shall tutor you in anything thing you need to know: advice, assistance, basic training, etc… until a head trainer or caretaker is available within the RP.

Simply state when first posting, who you are (your character’s name), your steed (if you already have one), which unit you wish to belong to, your choice of weapon etc… Just follow the rules and guidelines above when entering and you shall be assisted in anything you need by the Hall’s Keeper, Tindrock as soon as possible. Thank you for taking the time to read this note, and many splendid adventures to you dear friend, as you enter into the wondrous world of Fantasy. :)

Sincerely,
The Fantasy_Warriors

Intro…

You have journeyed far...

Not to find enlightenment or your destiny, but because you have been told of a place where Dragons fly. A place where beasts and birds of magic, are born and made.

Where Dragon and Rider, are one. And where warrior and beast, shall learn the true secrets of their strength...

As you climb the steep path that has led you through the mountains, you begin to grow weary of this search, for you have traveled long and far. But for the breathtaking scene around you, no such grand hall or place is visible. Then, you see it, coming out of the mountain’s grey mist just before you...

A grand tower, grey as the haze that veils it, giving it the ghostly aspect of a vision. But it is real, and it becomes more real by the moment as the fog lifts. A green valley, flowing down like a basin in the mountaintop, surrounded by its peaks appears clearly ahead like a hidden world.

Great forests and small hills dot the plane and a single river runs soundlessly through it. You inhale sharply as your eyes behold the sight, but then they look again upon the grey tower. Now the fog has lifted completely and you see that this tower is in fact a part of three that stand high, above a great hall with smaller structures all about it, and banners caught high in the breeze. And on the tallest of these towers, flying proudest of all, the white and green flag of the Fantasy Warriors...

--------------------------------

The Great Hall:
A massive stone structure with three great towers built at its front.
The middle tower, larger than the two at it’s sides, stands at the front looming just above the main doors.

The Towers:
The oldest standing structures in the valley, though their builders are long forgotten.
They serve the Great Hall as guard posts and lookout turrets, while silently keeping locked within them, the secrets of their masters.
Their sharp, gothic-like yet burnished architecture has been mimicked in the construction of the buildings that now surround them, built several years later.

Guest Quarters:
Located on the second and third floors of the Great Hall, there are 150 rooms in all. Most of them are empty, but for a few that have been sparsely furnished to provide a suitable yet rather drafty guestroom. Accented in dark-wood, with a grand window and balcony that overlooks the valley and training arena, each room is decorated practically in the same way; With a small bed, washbasin, writing desk, wardrobe and a large charcoal brazier in the center to give warmth to the rooms chilling emptiness.

The Stables:
Two large rectangular buildings to the east of the Great Hall, containing 20 stable rooms each, 40 in all. Built in the same way with the same stone as the Great Hall, but covered in thatched straw over wood instead of plain wood. The stable’s fronts face each other, giving the area a large courtyard enclosure and making it the perfect place for the buying, selling or inspection of beasts. Also to serve as a temporary stable for the steeds of visiting day guests. In the middle of the courtyard is a water fountain and around it, several wooden platforms, poles and tying posts have been placed in every corner for when the animals are to be washed, groomed, or examined...

The Hall’s Keeper:

=Tindrock=
A grim little Dwarf of mysterious origins…

Tindrock the Dain has lived within these ancient walls since before they were rediscovered. He knows much of the dwelling’s shadowy past and every secret that it holds, but is unwilling to recount and is at all times silent among company, even to those he trusts, speaking either yea or nay to most questions. But Tindrock is neither dark nor wicked, he is by all accounts…a dwarf, and therefore must behave as any proper dwarf might, keeping to himself. But he is loved by the warriors and he in turn loves them all, in his own dwarvish way. Faithful, honest, wise, and ever quick to criticize any lax behavior of a student who wearies, he never fails to notice, for his eyes and ears are upon all things.

What little is known of his past he will only say when after a good many drink has been shared and boasts that he was once among many things, a smith, a scholar, a tradesmen and a mighty warrior of old under the service of a great dwarf lord who’s name he does not give. Though with good reason some may doubt his lavish tales, it is known without question that he is skilled in war and regularly assists the warriors as instructor to trainees. His only possessions, a ring, a vest of rich garb now worn and tattered, his common dwarf’s clothing, a circlet of keys that he wears faithfully for they open many things in his Hall, and an axe, which above any such strange items as he carries, is most magnificent and outstanding among them all.

And so, despite a dwarf’s small size, old head, and at times fearsome mood; Tindrock is and shall always remain within the warrior’s hearts…as friend, father, and Keeper of the Hall. A small and simple spirit, but a warrior too, with a heavy hand and a heart of gold…

They planned their escape and are now reunited with fellow imprisoned warriors Nyx and Sky, having been greatly aided by Olorin (twin brother to Leîr).
But they are still to escape beyond the borders of Green-Elf territory, they have been joined by local elf-child Vanya, the shadow still remains within the forest, and now Leîr has found the escaped party.
Back at the Halls of the Fantasy Warriors, Talula, Tamroch and new arrival Findolan [all RPers currently missing] are being urged to help the Fantasy Warriors by Híril's steed Morang.
Fantasy Warrior Heather has just arrived at the Halls, in need of rest.

I'd like to join:<BR><BR>Here's my profile:<BR><BR>Name: Rykago<BR>Age: 28<BR>Alliance: Mordor<BR>Race: Men<BR>Eye color: Murky Brown<BR>Hair color: Dark Brown<BR>Gender: Male<BR>Weapons: Composite Long Bow, self-made Broadsword, and a shield with the symbol of the cross upon it.<BR><BR>Appearance: Rykago is almost always seen with full armor on, which is a full suit of plate armor, plate guantlets, and a "bucket" helmet, which has two eye slits and holes punched in it for breathing. He has a golden sheath, which he polishes every other day. If there is no fighting, he wears tough leather shoes and he doesn't have his armor on. He has a blue tunic, and silky green pants, from Sauron for Rykago's many victories. If you were to get a strand of hair, it would stand 1 1/2" up. Is it all brushed back, so it is not that thick. His hair is very thin also. His skin color is a peach color. He has a deep wound running from his left hand to his elbow, which he received after fighting in his first battle against Gondor. He weighs 130 pounds, so he is fairly thin. He is just right to be able to ride his horse, Pyros, because with all the armor, Pyros weighs about 250 pounds. Pyros is a rare breed. He is pure white, with some dark white streaks going across his body. <BR><BR>History: Rykago was born into the Kingdom of Gondor. His mother had died years ago, due to an unknown disease, so all he had was his father, Ithulen. His father was a general in the army of Gondor. In one battle, his father went over to the enemy camp, assuming they would surrender. They didn't accept, and quickly chased him off, trying to kill him. A spy had seen this, and thought they were plotting. He quickly told his lord Faramir about the incident. Faramir sent the guards to arrest Ithulen, and they did. Faramir ordered him burnt at the stake. Rykago watched as his Father was burning. He immediatly went on an emotional rampage. He killed all of the guards and tried to kill Faramir. His father uttered these lasts words to him "Fight for Gondor" Then, his father's head hung, and he was dead. Immediatly, Rykago burnt the stables down to the ground, and stole a black horse with a firey streak going from chest to tail, which he named Pyros. He stormed out of Gondor, and headed for Mordor. He disobeyed his Father's last orders and he headed for Mordor in search of a new King. He spent a long, long journey heading there. He finally reached the Black Gates. The guards demanded to know who he was and where he came from. He knew if he said Gondor, he would be killed. He said his name was Rykago and he came from Isengard. He told them he wanted to see Sauron the Deceiver. The orcs led him to Mount Doom. He slowly got off of his horse. He smelt the smell of sulfur. It burnt his throat. He looked up into the Eye of Mordor, and said "M'Lord, I have come to serve thee." With that, Sauron made him a Captain in the Army of Mordor. He has fought in many battles against Gondor and Rohan, however he still has one goal. His one goal is the destroy Faramir.<BR><BR>Personality: Rykago is a very serious person. He uses his stare to strike fear into his enemies, and the people who threaten him, hoping they will save their lives and stay away. He can get his hand on his sword, take it out of its sheath, and slice something in 1/4 of a second, which is remarkable. He has one flaw, however. His flaw is his pride. He will never admit losing to someone. Whether it's arm wrestling, or bow target practice, he will go on and on until he wins. He is trained with the Composite Bow. His father taught him all the skills that he knows, up until he died. Then, he had a knight, like him, train him, under the service of Mordor. He can shoot arrows with incredible speed, making him a born warrior. When in battle, he can remember his Father's death, and Faramir's face, and will go into a rage. He will hack at everything in his path. One time, he went into the back of the Gondorian line, and he started spinning around. The sword span with him, and it cut through everything that it touched. He knocked out 1/10 of the enemy all by himself. He has some difficulty shooting at ground units, however, for they are always moving. He much prefers to lie down on the ground, and pick off enemy archers that are on the walls. He now uses his father's war call, which he cries out, when he sees the enemy. <BR><BR>If that helps at all. A question. What are riders? Are they mounted warriors? I'll be a Dragon Lord I guess, if those are the choices. Also, do we have to find a steed?

Cl: Hello and welcome in. mekilno (the guild founder) originally placed the titles there as just ranks without any "real" meaning to them, or as we viewed it. Whether we're just trainees or foot warriors, we ride on our steeds if we have any, or offer to share steeds during battle with those who don't have.<BR><BR>Yes, a steed is required. That is the very first task required of trainees. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> **Read first post, last paragraph*<BR><BR>Hope it helps.<BR><BR>Sky

Yes Sky, that did help. Thank you very much.<BR><BR><BR>Rykago hid in the woods, making sure there was nothing that could see him. Before him lay a pasteur, full of horses, warhorses. He needed to get one. Rykago gradually laid down in the tall grass, snaking his way to where they were. There was an unusual one though. They were all white, except for this one. This one was completely black, except for the orange streak that started at its chest and went back to the tail. Rykago knew that this was his horse.<BR><BR>Rykago crawled farther and farther, slowly, making sure he didn't alarm any of the horses. He cocked his bow. The arrows weren't designed to pierce the skin. These arrows were designed to puncture it about 1/2 or so. Rykago had put some tranquilizer powder on the end, to ensure that the horse fell asleep. He crawled a little closer to the horse. When in range, he fired the arrow right at the horse. Being a marksman, it was a direct hit. The horse gnayed a bit, but in no time, it was asleep. Rykago crawled over to the horse, and took the arrow out. He treated the wound best he could, and awaited for its awakening.<BR><BR>When the horse awoke, Rykago was sitting there, with some hot milk and some food. Willingly, the horse ate the food, while Rykago placed the saddle upon it and petted it. It seemed like the horse knew Rykago was its true rider, but Rykago had no idea this was his true horse. He looked at the firey streak, and decided to call the horse Pyros. He climbed up onto Pyros, and rode back to the guildhouse to show everyone his new horse.<BR><BR><BR>That good enough?<BR>

It's fine, Cl. Now, you just have to join us at the guild grounds. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><BR><BR>IC: Sky, Hiril, Gil-Lindar and Gwen lounged about a fire, eating. All about them, the other warriors ate, or talked, or slept, while their steeds moved about as they would. It had been long since they had a good rest, for there had been many attacks that had required their attention. They needed more people to aid them, needed more strength.<BR><BR>"Mekilno is not here," Sky said, "and she has not been ever since we have returned. We have waited here for too long, and others grow restless. I suggest that we take up leadership until Mekilno returns."<BR><BR>"It is well with me," Gil-Lindar said, and the others agreed as well. "We have need of order in these battles that we fight."<BR><BR>Sky

My name is Talula. I am human. My skills include sorcery, a bit of healing, sword fighting, and a dabble of archery. I was trained under Clary Nuo and John Greton (names which you should not know, if all is well). My steed is Tamroch the Tame, a dragon descent from Caladon. I carry a walking stick/staff/big-stick-to-hit-people-with on my back (when not in my hand) and a longsword sheathed to my side. I supose I would be a Dragon Lord, since I know thier speech and have one as my steed. I am here to ask acceptance into the Guild.

Talula: You are accepted. Your first task is to find, capture and tame a steed, and search out the guild members at the guild grounds. Welcome in.<BR><BR>Sky

Ancalagon: What we'll be doing is training...having little bouts between ourselves, with major battles with our enemy--the Anorxians (if I remember the spelling correctly). There is also discussion going on of making the guild into one where steeds are tamed and trained by us.<BR><BR>Your first task would be to find, capture and tame a steed.<BR><BR>P.S. I'm working with a few other guild members on this, so it'd take some time for us to right everything. Give us time, ok? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><BR><BR>Sky

So, basically, we do RPs and we earn promotions and stuff by defeating powerful enemies and doing really well and the such?<BR><BR>BTW: Why did you leave my Knights of the RT guild?

Yes, CL, something like that. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><BR><BR>OC: I predicted that I wouldn't have enough time in RL to focus on too many RPs. I'm already in quite a few, and they take up a whole lot of time. I'll be swinging full force into college *again* by the end of next week, and then withdrawing from college to another institution. If I join, I want to dedicate my time and effort to it, not be just a member in name. If I ever do get the time, I'll return to it. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><BR><BR>Sky

<i>Sitting by a fire at night</i><BR>'Since I already have a steed and Gil-Lindar says that we need only one, I'm not going to capture another. To be fair, however, I'll tell how I "caught" Tamroch the Tame.<BR>'I was walking through the winter forest one day, near a Tavern that I frequently run. I was aproaching a little frozen over pool when I spoted a good sized lump of snow that seemed to be moving. Before I got too close a pitiful Dragon head lifted from the pile. I was quite astonished because it was so small and, well, pitiful. He has this silly look in his eyes, a look I had never seen in any Dragon be it good or evil. He shook off the heap of snow that covered him and lumbered over next to me. He just gave himself up to me, like he was happy to have a master. You may think me lucky, but he can really be incompetent at times, more of a burden than a steed, but he can get around fast. He can't fly--his wings are little webbed nubs--and he's only about as big as a small shack. Anyway, I took him to a good friend of mine named Zonan (I tell him it's ridiculous, but he insists on being called that). Zonan is a Dragon that has been around for a very long time. He told me that my little steed's name was Tamroch and was a descendant of Caladon, a great dragon that asisted in the defeat of Diatermes. Zonan also confirmed my beliefs that Tamroch was on the mentaly challenged side. But he's very sweet and loyal, so I would have no other steed.'<BR>OOC- Once I get my scanner fixed, I'll send a picture of him.

<i>Ancalagon walks slowly back...He is bleeding from wounds inflicted on his wings, tail, back, and flank. On his massive shoulder sits a very large and strange bird. The Bird is almost as large as Gwaihir, the King of the Eagles. The bird has very long red and orange tail feathers. It's wing span is about fifteen feet. It's entire body is covered in bright yellow, orange, and red feathers. Upon the bird's head is a crest of eight feathers; the feathers to the front of it's crest are long and as they go back the feathers shorten. As others gaze into the bird eyes they feel a sense of awe and wonder. The bird orange beak is short and curses down to a point. The bird's sharp talons are clench tight on Ancalagon's shoulder. trickles of blood run down Ancalagon arm and then onto the ground.<BR>When Ancalagon reaches the stables he enters them to find a stall were the strange bird could stay. Then when Ancalagon exits the stables he collapses from sheer exhaustion. After a refreshing drink from the horses trough Ancalagon begins to speak.</i><BR>"I...I...flew around all of middle-earth for many days...I was looking for any sign that a...Phoenix still existed. When I came to a city called...Nevrast I got my first indication that the was an Island...an Island that was not that far from were Numenore was. On this Island...that the people called...The Lost Island of Osse...there had been reports of monsters, mountains of treasure, mythological beast, and many other strange things. They said...that no one ever could get very close to that island because the water the full of...corals, strange snake like creatures, and other perils. There had only been one sailor that ever had gotten...close to that island and come back alive. <BR>"So I went to see that man...and when I found him he became terrified of me. So using magic I transformed myself into an Dark Elf. I asked him if he had ever heard on...The Lost Island of Osse. He nodded, and then proceeded to tell me of his experiences. He told me that he had seen many terrifying creatures...some even more terrifying than a dragon. Most of what he said didn't make much sense...he kept drifting off to some other story. But I did get a small hint...that indicated there were birds made of fire that lived there.<BR>"Once he had finished his story I set off in search of the island. For days I looked and look over many parts of the seas. Finally when I was about to give up I spotted something penetrating the surface of the water. When I went in closer I was amazed to see that it was the top of the great mountain that once was on the Island of Numenore. I knew that I was close. After another day of searching around the place were I found the remains of Numenore I saw off in the distance a dark shadow breaking the horizon.<BR>"I flew over that ways and by night fall I had found an Island. When I landed I saw that everything about the island was unfamiliar. The trees were weird and twisted, odd noises came from nowhere, and I felt that something was watching my every move. I stayed the night on the sandy shores fearing something terrible if I went anywhere else. The next week I spent much time searching for any clues to lead my to the fire birds. Then it happened.<BR>"Out of the blue came a swirling balls of golden flames! I instantly knew what it was. It was a Phoenix, the beast I was searching for. I chased the Phoenix to the other side of the island. There it turned on me. It used it's flames to blind me and then it's talons to make tremendous gashes in my flesh. This went on for quite some time, finally I used my tail to smash it to the ground. I pinned it to the ground and forced it to submit it's will to me.<BR>"All the way back to where I am now it fought against me. When I was about one day away it's resists toward me lessened. And we almost have become friends. It's still needs a lot of work if it is to become fully tame, but I will leave that for another day."<BR><i>With that said Ancalagon left the group which had surrounded him and went to his quarters.</i><BR>
