Fantasy Warriors OOC thread

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

As the old thread "Fantasy Warriors" is currently dying out and disorganised, this new thread is for any discussion on the on-going RP in "Fantasy Warriors Reborn," as well as for new members to ask questions and all. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Enjoy your trainings and adventures! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Please enjoy Fantasy Warriors Reborn!

Fantasy Warriors

I'm here, I'm here!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Hello there Nyx! Great post BTW<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Don't worry guys, I'm putting the finale touches on my RP post tonight and if all luck is with me I'll get it posted by tomorrow evening!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> (Which is when I get the computer)

BTW Everyone! I had a thought about any new members like galadralorean who’s just joined.
Wouldn’t be a good idea if we had some sort of guard or keeper of the Hall who stayed behind when we go off on our adventures, to sort of introduce new members to the place, give them info and such.
It wouldn’t have to be a deep or complicated character and anyone of the heads should be able to play it, just someone to be there since most new members will show up at the Hall when they join the RP anyway. What do ya think?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Okay to answer some of your questions Hiril:

First, thank you to whoever started the OOC! That was a big help!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
And I’ll write up a little something to keep everyone updated on our current affairs, I’m sure it will help. With all my nasty little twists and turns…<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

And yes Hiril, What you did in the RP’s first post about those “missing in action” was just fine.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>Good thinking Sky!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Yes my dear, I’m afraid we probably should add First Bow, (Sorry)<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> because it might look confusing to new members. But tell ya what…
Mekilno made me Second in Command didn’t she?
And since she is currently “missing in action” I therefore think I have the authority to give promotions unless it was stated otherwise and I forgot.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

So, I hereby promote you Hiril~, to First Bow and shall state it officially in the RP when we have wrestled this current foe and are safely returned to the Hall. How’s that, aye?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Congratulations my friend *Hugs*<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> and Sky, Nyx…I think you all should get something after this. You’ve all done so well, so I’ll do some thinking about it okay.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Also, your idea of escape Hiril…That would be a big help! Heh, I actually don’t have a creative clue one how we are going to get out of there!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Are you going to share it here with us or is it a surprise?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Edit: BTW Yeah, where did our leader go?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> I remember her saying something about taking a holiday right? Well, yes…it has been a while and I too hope everything’s okay.

And...Could one of you e-mail me the password again?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>
My mail's changed now (which is why I need the info again)<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>
And the new one is: greyelf707@yahoo.com

Thanks<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Hey all <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Grey~Elf - *squeeeeee!* Oh my, I've been promoted <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0>
Thankyou! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> ((*hugs*))

That's a good idea to have a "base" character (in terms of home-ground residing rather than cowardly <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> )

I emailed you the password. I suppose we should update your contact info in the first post too <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Looking forward to reading your post, Gil.
I hope people aren't getting too many expectations about my next post <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0> It's nothing extraordinary, and is actually following along the lines of burning the place down around our ears.
I shall type up a post in a minute - I'm just finishing dinner first! (it's hard to immerse yourself in Middle Earth when you're munching on pasta bake <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> )

I'll also pop over to EWL's list of threads tonight and change the web address of our OOC thread <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

First, thank you to whoever started the OOC! That was a big help!

I started it, but it was okay. No need for thanks. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Glad to be able to help.

Wouldn’t be a good idea if we had some sort of guard or keeper of the Hall who stayed behind when we go off on our adventures, to sort of introduce new members to the place, give them info and such.

This is a very good suggestion, Grey. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> But, do we want to appoint a newer member to do it? Or introduce a new character that is common amongst the caretakers so that all of us can use him/her? I'm all right with either, just that, if we choose the former, the new member doesn't feel left out if the main RP goes on too long--we want to include them in the action too! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

And I’ll write up a little something to keep everyone updated on our current affairs

That will definitely help a lot, Grey. Thanks. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

And take your time with the promotion. I'm looking forward to seeing what you will come up with. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Hiril: yep. Eating and trying to be in M.E. at the same time is hard, isn't it? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Trust me, I've got lembas all over my keyboard. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

P.S. I noticed that the some things in the first post isn't edited, like Grey's e-mail. Hiril's promotion (change in first pos) will come later, right? I mean, the editing part of it...

Waiting for your posts! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Can't wait, actually. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Hurry! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>
Sky

Getting there, getting there. I actually just had another, even better idea for means of escape. And all it involves is a little entish magic <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

I edited Grey's email in the first post, added first bow (but haven't promoted myself <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0> ) and also added in a link to the new thread (which, by the way, we need to be careful about - because of that annoying habit that links have of distorting themselves each time the post is edited.)
So if anyone edits the first post - rememeber to make sure that the link looks like this:
[l url="http://
at the start.

edit: done and done! phew! Translations always take forever <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

Hey people, think you guys can hold off Ellthane, Gil-Lindar, Hiril, Gilael and the rest being able to find Sky for the meantime? I'm interested in finding out what Grey has in mind for Leir and her. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

And good job, Hiril. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Thanks.

Sky

Sky - not a problem. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> We'll make sure we let you (or perhaps that should be Leir <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> ) have your (his) fun.

Nyx - Thankyou <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Technically, I didn't. There's very little entish lying around in Tolkien's works - certainly not enough to construct a dictionary of it. But Treebeard also says to Merry & Pippin: 'Taurelilómëa-tumbalemorna Tumbaletaurëa Lómëanor', which is Quenya words strung together ('Forestmanyshadowed-deepvalleyblack Deepvalleyforested Gloomyland', to save you all scrabbling for your lotr appendices). So I just used the same principle. If you know Quenya (or a quenya dictionary) you can translate what I wrote easily enough, though it's not particularly exciting, given the entish love of superflous words.
In essence I said 'You used to be green and growing. Now there is shadow in your heart. Cast off your metal bonds, free the elves. Be green again.' and then 'Thankyou friend, be green' as a parting blessing.

* lotr_grrrl *
~Member of the extensive family of Vana & B25
~Weilder of Ithilmîr, the Moon Ring of Moods
~I’m not crazy, I’m just a sane person trapped in the body of a lunatic. Ha, ha…yeah!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> I think I’m rested enough now *Yawns*<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Gosh, I really did something to myself there!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

But thank you, thank you for the compliment Sky<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>…However I’m honestly surprised!

I was practically mad with exhaustion when I finished it<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> (Not cuzz of it) but because I was stupid enough to stay up so long!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> And just look at this<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0>…*checks the day* I said at the time that I would post the rest…*check again* a day or so ago, didn’t I? After I got some sleep.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> Heh, guess what? I slept practically the whole day through!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> I actually enjoyed it, but I’ll never do that again!....<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Anyway. I finally posted the rest and did you see the summary I put up for new members?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Let me know if I should add something to that okay, or of course any of you can update it yourselves if you like…silly me!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

BTW: Goodness Hiril, that was amazing!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Brilliant in fact…I thought your use of the language was fascinating. Now we’ve got to decide what we shall do until the time to rescue Sky is…um, right…<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>I just hope I didn’t go over the rules there, it’s hard to express a deeply disturbed Elf.

Now, I asked you all to come here before posting cuzz I somehow want us to find a way to post so that everyone (Nyx, Olórin, and the warriors) can meet each other, however you all would like to work it.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
So does everyone have a good idea of what the whole story behind Leîr’s intentions is? I know it’s very confusing…As you’ve probably guessed by now, he’s completely obsessed with the destruction of men because he feels betrayed by them. And he thinks that by somehow using Nyx he can overcome them, by somehow convincing her eventually that they are evil and that she is indestructible (which he hasn’t started on yet, he’s working on Sky at the moment<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0>). So…any questions?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Haha, math was my favorite subject in school Nyx!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> To which end I was subsequently deemed, LOONY by my fellow man.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Everyone I’ve ever known seems to dislike math…odd, all those wacky, jumbled facts, digits, and numbers to remember…racking your brain till it explodes…I found it quite enjoyable really.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> But good luck with you’re Algebra anyway my friend.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

So, should Galadralorean’s name be added to the Trainees list or are we awaiting her confirmation post first? I haven’t seen her do anything yet, but that’s probably because she might feel lost in all this anyway.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> I think I’m going to go ahead with the Hall Keeper idea then.

To answer your suggestion Sky, a new member playing the part is irrelevant actually because this Keeper is not really an RP “character” per say.
In order for it to work it would have to be played as an uninhibited or inanimate function so that if in case let’s say, the role is given to someone, we won’t have to worry about them leaving or becoming too busy to manage the responsibility and such.
So therefore it will be best if we look at the part of the “Keeper” as more like the essence, or spirit of the guild. It’s a role any of us can assume when needed to instruct others, when our own RP Characters (Sky, Grey~Elf, Hiril) IN the RP are off doing something and can’t help them RP wise. We’ll just give it a name, an image, and make it seem like an actual separate character. Make sense?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

So we just step out of our person’s role (IN the RP) and assume the Keeper’s role at the same time to give new members assistance (if they need help in the RP…settling in, light training…), if there is no one IN the RP at the Hall at the time. So if someone new comes along and their Character IN the RP needs help, it’s there all the time.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

But if you want, any member of the guild should be able to assume the role if they know what there doing after a bit of watching.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> It just seems like something that the Caretakers should handle for now, until we all get used to it.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Now “Introduce a new character that is common amongst the caretakers so that all of us can use him/her?”

That would probably be a good idea, but I can’t think of anyone we right now… How about you guys?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Do any of you have an idea for this Keeper? Should it be a he or she, animal, elf, human, etc…, what’s their name, what do look like (doesn’t really matter)?… And such. I was thinking it should be a HE because all of our own characters are female but I can’t decide what HE should be. Maybe a Dwarf, ya think?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

(Goodness, look at all these smiley faces!!!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I must be very well rested aye?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>)

Well, I don’t think we want his plans to succeed so I’d say it would be better you run and find the other’s with Olórin.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Then maybe you should all find a way to rescue Sky. I’m trying to decide right now on what the final outcome should be…

Should we all somehow escape and Leîr remains a distant threat to fight some other time, or should we kill him? Unless you all plead mercy and we somehow come up with a convincing way to bring him back to sanity!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
Wow, awesome post Grey!
Our very own saga! Woohoo!

Oh goody, another door <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
(and thankyou, Grey. I feel honoured to receive a compliment from you!)

I think a dwarf Keeper would be good. We don't have any dwarves among our comapny, even among those missing. Male dwarf. Kind of blunt and apparently grumpy but with a heart of gold <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> (couldn't have him scaring off the new recruits now, could we?)
“Introduce a new character that is common amongst the caretakers so that all of us can use him/her?”
I think what Sky meant is basically what we're doing now - creating a new character that all of us know the personality of so any of us can use him as necessary.
Did we want to make the Keeper open to all? Or just Caretakers? Because if we're just doing caretakers we can also actually use the Fantasy_Warriors skin to avoid confusion.

I don't think we should bother adding new members until they've at least posted their bio.
For galadralorean's part, while the other stuff going on may be a bit confusing, she doesn't really have to worry about it just yet - she just has to find a steed. And of course, if she is feeling a bit confused or lost she can always come in here & say so (hopefully we're not so scary as to frighten people from doing even that!).

Speaking of the first post - that's great Grey!
Again, though, can I remind people that whenever you edit the first post - please change the start of the link for the OOC thread to:
[l url="http://

Just to make sure I'm clear - those are two guards on the other side of the door, yes?

But if Leir's just left the room Sky is in, where has he gone?
I think it would be good if we met up with Nyx & Olorin, and then find Sky. And maybe Leir is not even in there so we can have a nice big confrontation with him!
It seems a bit nasty to kill him, but I don't think he can be reformed and he's a bit too dangerous to be left alive.
Maybe Olorin can sort of rise up against him, and Leir's death can be accidental (falls over the balcony?). And then Olorin can become the new King. Everybody happy.

I don't know. I'm just throwing up a few idea's.

Actually, you know we could always make Ellthane the Keeper <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Although I suppose he wouldn't want to stay at home while the women go out fighting.

Grey: Awesome post! But y'know? Now my arms are aching from having hung in there for so long! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> And um...what does "Larwen" mean? I know it's "something-maiden/lady". Lol. My Sindarin is growing rusty. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0> Thanks.

Yep. About the keeper of the guild, I was talking about creating a commong character for us to use. I vote for using the Fantasy_Warriors ID for this. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> How say all?

Um...for Leir...um...interesting predicament you've gotten us into, Grey. Lol. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> I think he can still be saved, maybe by Olorin and Gilael? Since one is his brother and the other did save him before...maybe the two of them will have an impact on Leir. Then we can have him either:

1. Return to more sanity before the whole group goes off to fight the serpent-like beast again, and we can have Olorin, Leir and some of the Laiquendi help as well; OR

2. We can make Leir come back to sanity, regress into his childhood again, and have Olorin take over as king.

Again, those are just my suggestions, which may or may not be stupid. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0> I've taken quite a liking to Leir, actually. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Insanity seems a fun thing to possess. Lol! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Actually, in all honesty, it just seems intriguing. I mean, what if a human goes mad like him too? Ah...I should go study psychology or something. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

I'll post Sky's reaction to the episode, and then have her maybe do some shouting or something? So that maybe one of the Warriors can hear her and be alerted to her whereabouts? Is that okay?

Hiril: I'll refrain from posting my POV of what's happening with your character, Ellthane, Gil-Lindar, Gilael and Dandigo and let you go ahead with it? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Sky

galadralorien - There are some early posts in the current RP thread of people obtaining their steeds.
Or if you'd like to read the ones of some of these faces, you can find some here or here, depending on what your browser settings are.
Also, I'm not sure why you keep getting multiple posts, and this advice might be totally useless or redundant, but try only clicking the Done button once. (and it is a good idea to copy your post into a word document before you do this, even if it's only temporary) If you get an error message, check the thread before trying to post again (this is why I recommend copying your post - so you don't have to retype it <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> ), often the post still appears in the thread.
And if you click Done but then want to change something in the post's content - don't click stop so you can type it in and then click done again, or you'll usually end up with multiple posts. Let it finish posting it, and then you can edit. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Sky - thanks for that. galad: Hiril has given you good advice once again. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> It took most of us quite a few times by trial-and-error to learnt the tricks, but it does help. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Hiril: Lol! Well, we should give the poor, insane guy a second chance, shouldn't we? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> And oh yeah, I think I'll leave any editing of the main thread to you, 'cause I *will* mess up the link to the OOC thread big time, and won't know how to ammend it. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0> I'll take care of things here. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Nyx: Good post. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Sky

I fixed up the link in the first post. It's really rather annoying how the text of a link distorts itself like that whenever you edit. Goodness knows why it feels the need to do such a thing.

It's easy enough to ammend - if you just copy (or memorise) the bit I posted on the 18th & the 21st and insert that instead of the gobbledegook that it has before the http:// part then it's fine.

Was there a blueprint that we were meant to be following? Or is Nyx & Olorin just going to crash into the basement-dwelling party, and then we all gatecrash in on Sky?

~Lady~
"My parents had high hopes for me," Híril explained with a wry grin.

Ooooh the excitement! This is all very exciting, yes isn’t it!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> But I never thought it would turn out like this when we first started our little adventure… *Blinks*<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> How did that happen! Sorry,<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> I guess I’m just terribly impulsive and can’t help myself!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Great job Nyx with that post! I have to give some big credit here because you put together all that I was aiming to so incredibly well, it was amazing! Well done!

Hectic weekend for you Híril?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> Well it’s almost over now, but here’s some *Hugs*<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> to help you along then. Yeah me too…I’ve got family coming and going all this week and next, it’s going to be rush hour for awhile. But I’ll keep up my posting as best I can!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Speaking of which…

Yes, it was just two guards by the door Híril<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>, since Lenwë didn’t expect us to be escaping any time soon.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> We were after all…behind a huge metal cell door weren’t we?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Haha, good post BTW, you do that Ent-speech so well!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I can assure you it will make a lasting impression on those poor guards!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> LOL

I’m just sorry<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> I haven’t been able to get on and answer any questions in time, but regardless of it you’re all doing great!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

And I also move to motion in favor of using Fantasy_Warriors account to play Keeper. As long as it’s not a pain for any of you Caretakers to be switching back and forth when needed. It doesn’t bother me, so yeah let’s do it! And I think the Dwarf might be best.

Hahaha LOL, No!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Even if Ellthane did decide to stay after all this, he couldn’t just sit there and be a good boy!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0> He’s not like that and it’s nearly impossible to ever get him to stay in one place for long. He would perhaps do so if Gil-Lindar agreed to marry him, but that will obviously never happen (anyway, I’d find it bizarre to marry one of my own characters! Yuck!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>), so as much I like the idea,<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> I think it best if we use the dwarf instead. Which BTW, by your descriptions sounds absolutely enchanting!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Hmmm, now I’m thinking…what am I going to do with Ellthane after all of this anyway? Ah, but best I wait and surprise everyone aye? Get you all into a bigger mess…<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

I’m terribly sorry if I screwed anything up when adding my stuff to the first post Híril.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> I was kinda out of it all (recuperating from my sleep deprivation) when I did that. I’ll remember next time and thank you for your tolerance.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

______________________________________________________________________

Sky:

The reason you couldn’t identify the word "Larwen", is because it’s a word I made up.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> I was pretending that it was from in a particular dialect which is no longer heard in Middle-Earth. Leîr was speaking in the forgotten tongue of the Silvan Elves, or better known as the language of the Woodland elves, which Legolas used. But Leîr was using the ancient Nandorin dialect in its first original raw form, when he said that to Sky.

"Larwen" is actually not a real Tolkien word per say, it’s a derivative of two:

Laure meaning “gold” in and Wen “maiden” and Laure has been changed to Lar.

Even though the Nandor/Laiquendi were one of the two earliest bakeoffs of the Teleri back in the first age, they unlike most of the Teleri who went on to be called Sindar and spoke Sindarin, became a part of a group of Elves who were called Silvan (Wood-Elves, Nandor, Laiquendi…) and they spoke what Tolkien writes to be the very first and oldest language ever known to the Elves of Middle-Earth, Silvan which these Green-Elves have kept pure and unchanged from the original dialect.

It’s was also supposed to be original Elfish used by every clan until the time of the Great Journey, when the three major groups left Cuivienen for Valinor during the fist age. According to what I’ve read, Tolkien says that eventually, there were three languages spoken by Elves, Noldorin (Quenya), Sindarin, and Silvan.

So I was intending for the word “Larwen” to be Silvan. Sadly though, out of the many languages that Tolkien wrote about, Silvan is one he hardly ever developed, though he says in some writings on Sindarin that Silvan is fairly similar and influenced a lot of the Sindarin speech.

It’s also a tongue that suits Leîr perfectly because it’s considered by the ancient Nandorin (Elves who remained in Middle-Earth when the rest left for Valinor) to be the purest tongue and blood of the earth, uncorrupted by the Noldor’s Quenya like Sindarin eventually became. Most of the Nandor hate the Noldorien race bitterly, because they returned from Valinor to steal their land, destroy their trees, and disrupt the peace and they hate any Elf, even their own relations, the Sindar who have ever mingled with them.
<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> Heh, I’m rambling aren’t I?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>...I apologize…Just get really into Tolkien language at times because I find it so fascinating and all of this is sorta delves a little deeper into Leîr’s character anyway.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

But by this time in Middle-Earth (the time our characters are in), Silvan is no longer spoken except by Leîr and his people. All the rest of Elven-kind is either speaking Quenya (Noldor), Sindarin, or various diluted forms of Silvan. Híril’s character for instance, if she were to speak in her own native tongue, would be speaking in Silvan, but in one of its altered fashions.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Therefore "Larwen" simply means, Golden Maid. Seeing that Leîr obviously thinks of her as his trophy, I thought it sounded right.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

But Goodness<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> I’m um…flattered<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0>…that you have, <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>eh…taken a liking to the Elf, Sky!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> LOL I think it’s very interesting.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> It’s actually a big relief to hear, because I wasn’t sure how you were going to react to his…impulsive nature.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Whew…<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

______________________________________________________________________

Well um okay, it seems we now have a little campaign going on here<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>, on the choice between life or death for our little madman!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> LOL Well…let’s see, decisions…
Sorry Híril, I personally would like to see Leîr around again some time later<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>, but I also think he has definitely earned the thumbs down as well. I was considering the option of, having Olórin campaign to fight against him, since there surly are a few Green-elves who might agree with us about Leîr unjustness. But I also like the idea of having Leîr join them and help fight against this Shadow beast. Hey how about this then…Oh No<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>, More ideas<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0>!!! Haha, anyway…<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

How about this for a beginning… According to Tolkien, there would always be strife and bitterness between some of the Elves and Mankind, because Morgoth caused so much pain wherever he could, to make it so. Yet when Eru had first created them, he had intended for the two races to be as brothers in all things and there would be no hate between them, which frightened Morgoth because such strong alliances would destroy his power.
So he took great steps to ensure that they would never completely trust one another and therefore there has been much distrust and hurt between the two peoples. Now I agree… Gilael, Ellthane, Olórin and maybe, Gil-Lindar could use that factor, as well as other things, Gilael saving his life, Gil-Lindar’s healing powers, Ellthane magic and friendship with Leîr, and Olórin being his only close kin, to some how bring him back, but it well be tricky.

Leîr’s anger is fueled by many elements…

The strongest being that he still grieves the loss of his wife and son.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> The loss of the once peaceful and untainted beauty of his people due to war, which he blames the on alliance with man. And his undying passion to preserve the purity of Elves and of the Middle-Earth, which he and the other Nandor believe to be lost in the demolition that Man and their Elvin allies have caused. So it’s going to be a lot of work, but I’m willing to try it if you are.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

If you could somehow prove to him that all war and pain and the blackening of Middle-Earth lies completely in the doing of Morgoth and not wholly with man, then there might be a chance of changing him, and he might just decide to join the warriors Sky<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>, aid in their quests and such. It would be nice, wouldn’t it?…If we could have a whole army of phantom-Elves to help conquer the dark being in the forest.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Incidentally, I was thinking that we might now consider the Shadow Beast to be a spirit sent by Sauron or an essence of the Dark Lord himself or even Nyx’s own father sent by him in hopes of recapturing Nyx. Because like Leîr, Sauron might have just realized how powerful it would make him to have her on his side again and he is now searching for her for that very reason, but unlike Leîr he wants destruction of all living things and not just man. Hey, I like how this is sounding, big, epical and confusing!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Just my kinda story!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

So how are we going to play this then? Err, this is going to take some major planning here, but luckily we’ve got a load of talent in this guild.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> My mind sadly is crispy fried at the moment<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>…ummm

Okay, I think we should have Leîr come upon them just after they bump into Nyx and Olorin, but we should arrange it in a way so that they might have a chance in overpowering him and maybe Olórin could do something to control him while they hide him somewhere and then…Hmmmm<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif"border=0> Play the coming back thing...

I’ve also got another idea…
______________________________________________________________________

How about Olórin, who may seem small, actually has several supporters and tricks up his sleeve, will somehow manage to hide the warriors after meeting them and reuniting Nyx to them and after they somehow convince the boy that the right to the throne is now his, he secretly gets them and Sky out of forest by hidden ways.

Leîr is of course furious but doesn’t suspect his brother whom he considers weak and useless and the king then decides to go after Nyx. But then Olórin steps in with the support of the people and the warriors and overrides his brother’s rule. Lenwë and his men of course will side with Leîr but they will be the only ones and Leîr will probably then leave the village with them or shall be driven out and will dwell deeper within the woods, planning a return.

While in the meantime Olórin is now king and aids the warriors in the battle with Sauron’s shadow beast, (He would do this for several reasons, one of them being that he obviously loves Nyx and wants her safe) and while everyone is caught up in a ferocious battle with the beast which seems to be failing… maybe Gilael or possibly Sky might have a heart to go seek out Leîr and try to convince him to return and unite in powers with Nyx which is the only way to destroy this evil.

Hmmm… Oooh I like it!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> What do you guys think? Over the top, confusing, perfect?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Got any suggestions?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I think I like this plan a lot and we can still use your ideas of bringing Leîr back<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>....

Gads!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> What a post…I talk too much…<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

Grey: Whoa. Detailed post! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Goodie! And populated with so many emoticons! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Actually, I loved it! Lol. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

Thanks for explaining the origins of "Larwen." Unfortunately, while I know the whole history of the languages and the sundering of the Elves as you do, I study only Sindarin and not Quenya/Goldogrin etc. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0> No time. Lol.

Hm...don't worry about Leir. I think he's just misunderstood. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

As for the two options you proposed, I love both of them, but maybe the latter option would be more viable? Or perhaps we can mix and match the two, taking the more interesting parts from each, so that we don't fix ourselves down. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

And hm...about your comment on marrying a character...trust me, I know the feeling. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> It's amazing how writers can fall in love with their own characters, huh? Been there, done that. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0>

Hiril: Great post! And great use of Quenya once again! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Nyx: You did a good post. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

And as for the Dwarf...I guess whoever has the time whenever the Dwarf is needed can sign in to the F_W ID and RP him. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Well done, all of you! *hugs*

Sky

Nyx: that seems to be the case. Just let us finish dealing with the guards <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
Actually, I was also wondering that maybe the tree might alert Hiril & co to your whereabouts, since you were, after all, punching the crap out of it <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> yes/no???

Grey: thanks for the hug. I've survived the weekend, and actually now the week itself is feeling a bit less hectic (2 assessments down, one to go).

Our dwarf needs a name! And I was thinking we might be able to stick up a little bit about him in the first post. After all, it seems rather rude to introduce/describe the buildings and not the Kepper <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I certainly vote for Olorin taking control.

And as for the shadow in the forest - should we consider when exactly this guild is set? I'd always assumed it was Fourth Age, post-war of the ring. Which makes a presence of Sauron rather tricky. I don't think it could be his own essence. I like the idea of it being Nyx's father, though. Or perhaps some sort of fell beast sent to find Nyx by her father's disembodied spirit.
Meh. That's my 2cents for the day. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

* lotr_grrrl *
~Member of the extensive family of Vana & B25
~Weilder of Ithilmîr, the Moon Ring of Moods
~We’ve overthrown the Kings! I have some interesting news. Grey - you might know it already since you've been in the AMMM recently.

It seems that Ancalagon_the_Black is not, in fact, dead. Rather he was just in a coma.

Leslie-ElfWarrior has said something of the misunderstanding & has also included an extract from a recent IM with Ancalagon here or here depending upon your browser settings.

There is also this over at The Tale.

I am 97% sure that this is true - from the gathered evidence here, plus an email exchanged with a mod friend from The Tale, who said that she had had one of her mod friends check it out to make sure it wasn't a sick, cruel joke.
I would not have said anything here if I wasn't relatively sure. I don't want to spread false hope, but I also think this is something we need to clear up. Because I suppose there is still the possibility that some hateful person is taking all of us for a ride. And it is a bit strange that there hasn't been any definite TORC announcement of his living (how many people regularly visit AMMM to find out if those thought dead might be alive?) nor a visit to those threads mourning his supposed passing.

As such I propose that we add onto the Fantasy Warriors Reborn title '- requesting the presence of Brian Fisher' or something like that. And if/once he posts in here to confirm that he is, in fact, alive, then that we remove our 'In loving memory'.
Or, Grey, since you know his email... ???

I don't know how you guys will be feeling. Personally I am not celebrating. Maybe I should be, I don't know. Maybe I will be later, again, I don't know. I just know that right now I feel bitter and angry that so much hurt was needlessly inflicted upon myself and others.

* lotr_grrrl *
~Member of the extensive family of Vana & B25
~Weilder of Ithilmîr, the Moon Ring of Moods
~We’ve overthrown the Kings! Actually, Hiril, I was thinking of giving it more time. Whether or not Brian is confirmed to be alive, we need more substantial proof that he is indeed well. Please don't take me wrong. I miss Brian in his absence too, but it's better not to hope for too much and have them dashed.

Maybe we can give it more time, and then, Grey, you can give him a mail? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Btw, Es. said that she may/will be back soon. RL has been busy for her.

Sky
