Eldar's Guild Act III

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Eldar's Guild Act III

Postby EldarsCouncil » Mon Jan 19, 2004 2:41 am

Hail and Well met!!!

The "Eldars" we are.

From the very beginning, when I first started this thread,
I envisioned it as a place in which my peers and I would
feel comfortable in going to extremes in our topics.
From most serious to very lighthearted .

Much like life is.

I enjoy both extremes.

Role Playing is welcome here when the urge hits you.

SO...

WELCOME TO "THE ELDARS"

I hope you visit often and post often.

This is our thread (not mine), so if anyone has a topic they wish to
have discussion on or any question they wish to pose, just post a message.

WHAT WE HAVE HERE....

A guided tour courtesy of esteemed Eldar Vanaladiel

The guild manor has been growing over the last couple of years and has come to offer many of the amenities that we love to enjoy. If you at anytime see something we need to add, feel free to write it in with great description and we will incorporate that into our wonderful manor here.

As you come in the front door you will notice the wonderful spiraling staircase that leads to the upper floor where we each have our own rooms. There you can decorate your room as you wish and can find refuge anytime you need it. The elaborate decorations are of course made by elves and dwarves with the finest craftsmanship in Middle Earth and cost is no object here.

The main foyer has several rooms off of it. The one to your right is the library, the largest one in all of Middle Earth and TORC! We have vast shelves with works from Tolkien, Lewis and many many more. I am sure you can find anything your heart wishes to read in there. Just cuddle up with your book on one of the over stuffed chairs by the fire and enjoy.

The room to the left is the kitchen where we have an area for all of us to gather or you can go out the door to the deck and an outdoor sitting area for picnics and morning teas.

If you come off the foyer to the main double doors it leads you into the main living room which as you see has a divided set up. In one area you may find you wish to sit back and just watch out the window and see birds singing or snow falling. In another area you can sit and listen to music on our wonderful and updated stereo equipment. We just got the sound system in not long ago. It was sent by our guild master FrodoTook from one of his trips. A great bargain I hear say.

Over there you can see the bar. Well stocked with anything you would like from sodas to something with a bit of a kick. Just ask and our 24 hr staff will get it for you.

Follow me now and I will show you the garden and pool area. As we go out the french doors to the pool deck you can see we have loungers for those of you who wish to rest and relax by the pool. You can sit on the lawn as it is always trimmed to perfection.

Now the hammock you may find is occupied most of the time. Scribbles loves to sleep there so we kind of leave it alone for her but if you wish to string one up for yourself feel free.

We have an Olympic size swimming pool and a massive hot tub. Both are kept ready for use at all hours. We have the music piped out here and can be turned down or up depending on your mood.

We love parties so we have them several times a year. Though the next one wont be till after the holidays I assume as so many of us will be absent for a bit and then the rush into Christmas. But again make yourself at home.

Now down the steps of the deck you see the garden area that we all helped with. Many of us have donated plants and time into getting the garden in and keeping it weeded. So if you have a favorite plant to add please do so. I personally added the Stellar Pink dogwood trees. I just love how large the flowers are and how long they stay on the trees. So cheerful.

Come now we have so much more to see. Here as we leave the garden and go out of the yard you will see a walking path that goes around the entire grounds. We will be going to our right first to the 18 hole golf course that was put in for our members who find it relaxing. That is it over the little rise there on your left. The basketball and tennis courts are here on our right as we continue on down the trail.

Now once we are passed the courts you see some stables coming up. These are our own personal stables for housing the many beautiful horses and ponies we have here. Our handlers keep the animals in fine shape and are willing on a moments notice to get your mount ready for you to enjoy a days stroll on any number of riding trails we have.

As we come around the manor to the front we see that we have areas that are set up for lawn games such as crochet or badminton, as well as many others.

The path will continue around the manor to the apiary that was added last year as well. Oh and the solarium is a wonderful place to enjoy your breakfast if you feel up to it and wish to enjoy it. We have had some interesting things go on here at the manor house but we also enjoy having picnics down by the lake. We had a very interesting party there some time ago........ well we wont get into that. Its been a while since there was a food fight but watch it for it could happen again. I cant be responsible for everything that goes on here.

The main thing is to come have a great time and get to know the people that frequent our lovely manor. Not all are eldars. We do allow younger folk to come and join us as long as they are well mannered and behave. Now if DaveyJoe comes by he will bring pizza along with him. He always is eating pizza. Now we also have a pool elf that comes around...... um..... he is spoken for. He is my significant other. So if you have any friends who would like to come visit they are welcome to come along.

I hope you have enjoyed your tour and will make our home your home as well.

So put some warm slippers on those tired feet and
kick back and relax with the rest of us Eldars
or don your "costumes" and enjoy some fun roleplaying
or get into your bathing suits and enjoy the
HOT TUB and the HEATED POOL
as you sip on your PINA COLADA.

Whatever you chose to do, I hope you have fun.
I think you will find it most comfortable here.

Current topics

Please, take the time to introduce
yourself and let us get to know you.
Where are you from?
Do you have any children, grandchildren?
How and when did you first get interested in Tolkien?
What are your hobbies, outside of Middle-earth?
Anything you wish to say is fine.
Anything you wish to ask is fine.

Me? My name is Travis White. I am 49 and live in central North Carolina.
I was a "Military Brat" and traveled quite a bit in my youth.
I graduated from East Carolina University in 1975 and have
a BSBA Degree ( Bachelor of Science in Business Administration )
I am married for the second time and have 5 children and 2 grandchildren.
I worked in retail management ( Grocery Store ) for 22 years.
I got out of the Grocery business in 1999 then went
into landscaping and construction, then delivered mail for the
US postal service, then delivered furniture up and down the east
coast and now I am driving a big rig ( Tractor Trailer )
longhauling throughout the US.
.....I first read LotR in 1975, bought the Silmarillion upon
its release in 1976 and have read LotR annually ever since.
I now have the complete collection of Tolkiens works,
including HOME. Other than my Middle-earth related hobbies,
I love reading, bowling, dancing, camping, billiards, and
spending as much time as I can with my two grandchildren.
They are a real joy to me.

I am glad to meet all of you.
Travis White
(FrodoTook) aka FT

Humourous things children do or say
(Members stories about their children, grandchildren,
nephews, nieces or just any child they know)

Anything that comes to mind is ok.

-------------------------------------------------
Members who have visited this thread.

Member Name -- Age
Rosamund ---- 60
despoina------ 57
amzolt---------56
LadyStefania - 56
roaccarcsson - 56
PureOne ------ 55
Arvenstar ----11/01/50
Terry D ------ 52
bobbombadil -- 51
Jnyusa -------06/09/51
Dimamarthiel - 50
Skippy_of_Gondor – 50
ateelah--------49
FrodoTook ---- 49 still with the mind of a child and loving it
Calaquendii --- 01/16/55
Lalaithien---- 48
The Namless Thing 48
Pilgim_Grey –- 48
Flameofanor -- 48
prmiller ----- 48
Almacundo ---- 47
Beleg -------- 47
Hunter ------- 46
Mithril ------ 46
erinhue ------ 45
Silvan ------- 45
wisteria ----- 45
Snowdog ------ 45
Menelmacar --- 44
Katarina ----- 01/01/59
juliebeth ---- 43
hunyber55 ---- 43
PstTBG ------- 43
Biloralynlilolath -- 43
Liendle--------43
Rowanberry ---- 11/12/58
The Watcher -- 42
Parador~J ---- 42 (aka kalwanya haari = 'Beautiful Queen' in Quenya.)
rwhen -------- 42
Star-of-Hope - 42
Celandine ---- 42
Shaal -------- 10/03/60
BillBo ------- 40+
QueenBeruthielsCats 40 something
AudiblyBlonde 40
crispycreme -- 40
Elmtree ------ 40
Finrod_the_Faithful 40
holbytla ----- 40
justme ------- 40
Lembas ------- 40
pippintooke -- 40
niniel* ------ 40
Teltasarewen - 06/13/62
Drogo2---------40
Trasmerg38 --- 12/01/61
RangerABN ---- 40
Eriawen ------ 40ish
crystal_seed - Turning the big 40 this year.
Rholarowyn --- 39
Eilona ------- 39
drieske ------- 38
Bardhwyn of Dale 38
MariaHobbit - 07/24/63
Mirabella Black -- 37
Witchwench - 37
Speaker-To-Animals 37 officially, 25 in his head.
Lichen-Silverweb - 37
Finarphir -------- 37
Deorwine --------- 37
Athelashobbitdaughter -- 36
Luthien ---------- 36
having gone past the threshold of the "halflife" as
Dante Alighieri used to call the 35th year of life in
the first verse of his masterpiece "La divina Commedia":

Idril --------- 35+ (closer to 40 than to 35)
EntwifeLost --- 35
GB ------------ 35
Limubai ------- 34, looks like 24, feels like 14
EowynDernhelm - 34
fatcatdave ---- 36
orodreth111---- 34
Nimrandir ----- 34
Noldorin ------ 33
maldrigel ----- 33
Laerthalion --- 32
IsildursHeir -- 32 going on 8!
the mouth of sauron -- 33 aka Aussie Davey and mos
Gwen ---------- 32 (working on it)
NabooHuntress - 32
nienor-niniel-- 33
SmaugsBane ---- 32
Juwel --------- 31
RavenTinuviel - 31
Samos --------- 31
Celedegreenelf 30+ ( 93 or 49 )
droolie ------- 30
Magpie Jen ---- 30
Zaphod -------- 30
SilverScribe (aka Scribbles) - over 30
Kaya ---------- 30
Prophet-of-Oberon..turning 30 soon
tarsa_viverin..turning 30
Dazzling_Moonlight -- 30 soon
Vanaladiel ---- 03/25/56 "I am still 16 in my heart"
fionazona
Luthien2-la-vendetta
Midgardsomen 03/15/55
Teri
Emerlute
Elbren
Old_Begonia
grotecakes 30+ but not quite 50
Suzanne_Knight 30+

##################

Leoba- 23
puppylove - 18
FrodosKAT ----- 16
(youngsters are welcome to visit as long as they are
respectful and show good manners, which FrodosKAT did)
DaveyJoe
Karen
Elenath
Fishy071 ----- 12/05/76
Littlerabbit
Chameleon
Gimli_axe_wielder
Guruthostirn
Ainafuin

-------------------------

Have fun
FT

ps: You don't have to post your age to join this thread.
Post it only if you feel inclined.

Just jump in and post.

Here is the link to the 1st Eldar's guild thread
Here is the link to the New Eldar's Guild or Act II

If I have not got your name on the list of members please let Vana know and we will get them added!

**The door to the new guild house swings open and a figure is seen wheeling in cases of bottles. Moving them over to the bar and sliding them off the dolly she leaves again. After a few minutes she returns through the door with the dolly loaded again. Only this time she wheels these boxes off to the kitchen. Once through the kitchen door you can here her shuffling things around and humming to herself. Then the kitchen doors open and she steps out with a smile upon her face as she surveys her new surroundings.**

"Yup I think we are going to fit in here nicely!" Vana states with her hands upon her slender hips.

Welcome to the new Guild House!!

I hope you have all found our new home easily. I have brought some of the same furnishings along but if you wish to help with the decorating of certain rooms just drag in whatever you would like to see in the descriptions of the rooms.

This is the last post I made to the other guild house before starting this one and wanted to be sure that our newest members see their Official Welcomes to the Eldar's Guild!!!

As the Official Eldar's Guild Envoy I would love to welcome both Suzanne_Knight and grotecakes to the ranks of the Eldar's Guild. May your time here be long and joyous. We hope you will find this a very comfortable home away from home.

grotecakes you may join us in the hot tub anytime you wish! I am glad to see you will appreciate its healing powers since the elves have introduced us to how Athelas works wonders not only on the body but the mind.

So everyone come on in and lets get this place jumping!!!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Thanks for starting the new thread, Vana!

Fishy071 comes in with many boxes of items from the old place, including the SE DVDs of FOTR and TTT with the DVD player and TV.

<a href=' http://www.tolkienonline.com/thewhitecouncil/messageview.cfm?catid=24&;threadid=77061' target=_blank>Happy Birthday Wisteria! Congratulations on 2000 posts! I missed you in the Nightguards Guild as well. I won’t be in the formal RP though, because it doesn’t seem to be for me. I’ll be left out while everyone else is participating, but I don’t want to be in a RP where I would always be behind. RL can really keep us busy.

*politely looping the many links of his chain over his shoulders as many times as possible so that there's little chance of damaging most things, then grabbing both arms full of assorted items from the move ... gotsta do me bit <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> ... the old grote has nothing but his mouth to open the door ...

He knows better than trying a foot, he'd fall for sure! Think someone could manage some disinfectant here? no telling where that mouth's been!

... spitting the door shut and having absolutely no idea where things belong he advances on a beautiful but fragile table and sets several hundred pounds of possibly many peoples belongings down ... you guessed it even before the clattering crash begins!

"UHHHHH, Ah can fix that! But first Ah do believe Ah's worked up an appetite and I do smell something mighty yummy like wafting from somewhere!"

Before abandoning the mess grotecakes hastily scrawls a note leaving it on the pile of belongings and rubble which once was a truly exquisite table reading, "MY FAULT."

"Ah hears Vana does one whale of a job stocking the larder ... bet Ah can find a lil something to hold me over ..."

Half a second later he's found in the kitchen preparing a three foot long hoagie with ALL the fixings ... except the kitchen sink! Looking further he uncovers enough fresh fruit and vegetables to fill most of his pockets and turns once more to eye his gastronomic creation.

"Ah knows Ah can't eat that thing ... me cardiologist would kill me right before he fainted dead away! But Ah bet Ah can find somebody that'd let me drool while they ate it!"

Sliding the massive sandwich onto a large platter he carries it out back to the deck seeking a brave enough volunteer.

Suzanne- actually, I haven't found the artist. The picture was one from a fantasy pictures site and it said also..'artist unknown'.

Crys rushed into the mainroom of the guild after having heard a crash, surveyed the damage and read the note 'My fault!' She then walked over to the broom closet and got out the bin, dust pan and broom and started to pick up the shards of pottery, and the broken glass from the table top.

She smiles as she was wondering what this old relic of a table was doing anyway in the common room when she though she had distinctly put it out on the lawn edge for the up and coming rummage sale (moving sale). It had a crack in the glass top anyway, no great loss.

As she stood up, Crys was almost decapitated by a three foot hoagie. She managed to avoid falling backwards into the mess as she saw the backside of the ' hoagie carrier' head out onto the deck with the thing.

The door opened, and Fishy071 sees Grotecakes pushing it with his lips. She grabs a bottle of disinfectant from a box, and sprays the door.

Crash! Fishy071 turns around as she puts the disinfectant in a closet. Grotecakes has accidentally set some heavy objects on a fragile table.

"UHHHHH, Ah can fix that! But first Ah do believe Ah's worked up an appetite and I do smell something mighty yummy like wafting from somewhere!" he said.
Go ahead and get something to eat, Grotecakes.

He leaves a note, saying "My fault" on the table, and heads for the kitchen. Crys gets out a dustpan and broom to clean up the mess. Fishy071 brings out some hammer, nails, and glue to fix the pottery and table. A few minutes later, Grotecakes is heading to the deck with a 3-foot-long sandwich.

*Brings in her bucket of supplies, sits down in a big easy chair and starts working on her chainmail piece.*

This is rather addictive, now that I've truely got it figured out. I can only work on it for a couple of hours at a time, though, before my hands get too tired. No thanks, Grotecakes, I don't eat while working on armor. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I don't want to risk getting oil or salt on the links.

*With curved jewelry pliers in her left hand and standard wide head pliers in her right, she fastens link after link while the piece slowly (ever so slowly) grows.*
*After getting a couple of bookshelves in the library arranged and a large tapestry hung up on the main foyer wall, Rowanberry feels the hot tub calling her. So, she goes to get her swimsuit and towel from her room upstairs. On her way to the tub, she notices that some of the others have also arrived. She gets a Black Russian from the poolside bar, and sinks into the hot tub, relaxing and sipping her drink.*

Yawning as she stretches, Vana awakes to see the sun streaming in her window. Rested now from the move of her belongings to her new room where she had collapsed on her bed and slept like a log. Slowly she gets off the bed and lumbers out into the hallway where she hears a loud crash and someone cleaning up shortly there after. She peeks over the rail at the top of the stairs and sees C_S sweeping up the mess of the old table that should have been left behind with the other stuff to be sold or given to charity.

With a look of amazement Vana descends the grand spiral stair case wearing a pale green gown, her long ringlets draped gracefully over her shoulders and down her back to her waist.

"How did this happen? I thought we left this table behind at the old place. I mean.....it was cracked anyways and I bought all new furniture." Vana smiled. "Oh I see some of the others have been arriving and bringing some of their personal belongings and favorites with them. Good!"

Vana glanced out the french doors to see a man carrying a huge hoagie sandwich on a tray. Vana giggled at her recognition of the new member. She opened the door to let the fresh morning breeze waft through the main hall.

"Good Morning everyone! Hello Grote, I see you found the kitchen alright."

"Wist if you will give me your birthdate then I can change it once more and never have to change it again. I have been trying to get those that wish, to give me that info for the first post." Vana hugs Wisteria tightly.

"Same to all others of the guild. If you will get me your birthdate, like mine is 03-25-56, then I can update the first post for the only time it will need it for you. You are not required to give us a birthdate at all. But if you would like it there I will put it in."

Happy Birthday Wisteria!!!

An Openhouse party sounds lovely. So come on folks lets party!!!!

Besides, you’re the one who needs to eat right now.

Fishy071 puts the pieces of the tabletop puzzle together. Then she puts glue in the cracks. Shaal waves hello to everyone, rather overwhelmed by all the new moving in activity. She comes and sits quietly by Maria, fascinated by the growing chainmail and wanting to learn how to link chain herself!

Best of luck with your grant, Vana!

Maria & Cala, Sorry to hear about those painful days a while back. Hopefully they're just a memory by now.

Maria, Karate. There is actually a optional grappling class on Saturday that the kids can go to. Some of the other kids in their class go and say they really like it. Learning how to fall would definitely be a good thing also. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

Cala, Ah sushi! And a tattoo parlor <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> ?! What's the scoop on that? Spill!

Vana, Sorry to hear about your getting laid off. Great news about the possible grant! Yay!!!

Welcome Suzanne_Knight, grotecakes . Glad you've decided to join us.

Obie, I'm so glad to here Kambo is cheering you up. Walk hand-in-hand with him and you can't help but smile!

Wisteria, Happy belated birthday. I hope you had a great one.

Vana, The new guild house looks wonderful. I love the new furniture. I'm just going to head upstairs to my room for a nice long nap. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Welcome back, Shaal!

Fishy071 finishes unpacking and organizing the things in her room, then returns to the broken table. The glue has dried, so she glues and nails the legs to the tabletop and sets it aside, out of harm's way.

The old grote was concerned when he saw Fishy071 repairing his disaster with the table and could think of only one thing to try in response, and it wasn't a thank you! He tried to PAY for her consideration with the sandwich! He walked on towards the deck out back considering what pennance might be his due.

Just as he sat in a comfortable lounge in a nice shady location, placing the muchly neglected hoagie on a table nearby, he got what to him seemed a brilliant idea. He planned on building something since the table no longer needed repairing. But there was at least one problem in that.

**That there table was useful as well as purdy and all Ah really know and do is high technological like and scientific ... which Ah guess if'n Ah be careful like could be disguised as magical like ... but what purpose could me creation serve?**

While deep in these thoughts he proceeded to munch on a carrot in one hand alternating with a chomp from the turnip in the other only to nearly choke as he heard an unmistakeable, to him, sound, the screeching of rubber as the General Lee slide to a stop out front.

**Rosie Darlin?!?!? What's that rascally excuse for a car been up to behind me back? And Ah hopes he done remembered me admonishment about appearing low-key ... like horse n buggy like versus shiny chrome! Then again not much can hide the sound of tires instead of horse whinnies ... and that'd mean me SPACE ANGEL were in a BIG hurry ... which could only mean one thing ... THE EQUALIZER!

Running and hiding, the not so totally dense grotecakes knew would only make matters worse, so he did the only thing he could and continued choking on his vegetables.

Nice to see some familiar faces waves at Vana, Telta, Crystal and some familiar names for I have peeked in here a few times and even posted sometime (long ago it seems) ~ waves to all <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Well, if you have room for one more at times slightly nutty and slightly serious person who loves Swiss cheese <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> then I'd like to pop in once in a while and get to know you all better.
Welcome, Alandriel! Nice to meet you! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Make yourself at home. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

That's great about the grant, Vana! What age range of children do you take in, and how many? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Grappeling is fun, Katarina. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Especially when you get to where you can pin down guys who are bigger than you! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0>

Speaking of which.... Grote, are you in need of some self- defense classes? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

C.S. - The chainmail is about 7 inches by about 20 inches wide now. My husband attended the arms and armor class at the Gathering and they said you can make one big sheet and then just undo the links to make whatever size and shape parts you need for the thing you are making. So, right now I'm just making a large sheet, which may become the front of a shirt someday. I can't do it for very long at a time, though. My hands give out after about an hour. I'm starting to get callouses now, but the muscles of my hands just aren't very strong. I alternate chain mail days with cross stitch days to give my hands a rest!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

For those interested, I bumped my chain mail makers guild thread a few days ago to prevent it from getting archived.... and have had an influx of new members-- some of whom are much more knowledgable than I am. We are starting to get lots of good info and links on that thread. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

BRRRRRR, Telta. It's been cold here, but not THAT cold.

Welcome Alandriel. Yes Telta, of course we have room for more. And if we don't, we'll just add on a new wing. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Telta, Any temperature with a negative sign in front of it is way too cold for me! Stay warm.

Maria, The grappeling class is for ages 8-14 so I won't be pinning anyone. Although I may have to pay careful attention and try it on my hubby. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0>
<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Maria ... one might wonder if'n Ah does need them self-defensive types of training ... but me Rosie Darlin ain't really so abusive ... she means well ... keepin me in line and all ... Ah don't mean ta misbehave!

Now if'n them lessons be in defense of self? Ah could definitely use da instructions about falling down ... saefely that is! Ah knows it be hard ta believe but Ah's kinda klutzy ... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0>
