The Even Greater Aussie Guild - Celebrating 10 YEARS!

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

That was well put, sam! Much better than my explanation. Glad you and the little one enjoyed it so much. A friend of mine went the same night as lotrgrrl and she said it was pakced almost solid, was no impressed when they only gave her one glass of wine and the souvenir, which was not exclusive as you could buy it in the shop, but otherwise she loved the cotumes.

lotrgrrl, sorry, I didn't log on in time to come in and have coffee with you, logged on sunday instead. Hope you had a great time.

"Lost" starts in 10 days ladies and gents! with our Merry among the castaways. It's rating huge in the States. I hope it does well here. I wish I could tell you more of actual time but no allowed. It will be plain soon enough.

I am sorry for intruding like this, but I have a short question for you, the members of this amazing Guild. Do you happen to accept visiting members, who are not residing Downunder, but who have a very strong fondness for the country ? If so, please let me know, I'd be delighted to join you :)

Hi all! Hubby packed me off to the exhibition on Friday night and I spent an enjoyable couple of hours - without big crowds - strolling through everything. Some of the video stuff was similar to what was on the DVDs, but it was great to see some of the drawings, props and costumes up close.
Particular favourites of mine were Galadriel's costume (just drop-dead gorgeous), the unnervingly lifelike Boromir in his elven boat (almost expected him to sit up and say "Hi there"), the amazing range of different types of armour (up close!), and getting a good look at things like the three rings of the elves, etc.
Some of the videos are really great - if you haven't been, you have to seek out the video of the actor playing Lurtz having his make-up put on. It's hysterical. :)

I am not sure yet if this means I am accepted here or not.

I want to wish all the Aussies a delayed Happy National Day for yesterday, and to hope that the fireworks were more than enjoyable ;)

I still haven't seen it!!!! We're fairly new on DVD, and hubby bought me FOTR EE for Christmas as he figured I would like to collect the others myself. Arrrgghh! I've got TTT EE now, but cash is tight again and I can't justify getting ROTK at full price - even if I could find it, it seems to be sold out everywhere.... sigh

Thanks NL. I do live in Sydney, but I kind of .... well... want to gloat over my own little precious. Silly, isn't it? And ezydvd are out of stock. I'm checking. Althought the price has gone down by $10 since it launched, so if I can wait a little longer (pant pant) I should be able to afford it :)

****NEWSFLASH****

Lady Coralie is looking to set up an Australian event/s to raise money for the White Tree Fund (see the news page at the front of the site) - which was set up by Tolkien lovers worldwide in the wake of the Asian tsunami.

She and I are trying to think of good fund-raising events, ways to get prominent people involved, and how to get it all together. So if you're an event organiser, a marketing/publicity whiz or a real ideas person, email Lady C and see what you might be able to do.

Lost is soooooo great!

I like Charlie and that pregnent lady and the fat guy and Boone(I think thats how you spell his name)!

I always thought of the monster as a giant toad, and I was not expecting a polar bear! :Q

Is it a polar bear? Or is that just one of the beasts and the REAL one is still in hiding?

I dunno...

Me and my friends were saying that the real monster bit the labrador and so now it can transform into a polar bear. Like when a warewolf bites a person, that person becomes a warewolf. But that doesn't necessarily mean the real monster is a polar bear.

You should try and go myth. There's lots to see and some of it really is quite impressive.

My hubby was happy to go and see the films, and would have be willing to endure the exhibition, but our kids wouldn't have had the patience for it. So he let me go by myself -- and I think you should do the same. You'll still have fun. :)
