The Even Greater Aussie Guild - Celebrating 10 YEARS!

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Hi all!

Well my flatmate just made ANZACs and I've been awake since 3am (for the dawn service). That's about as Aussie as it gets around here :P

Now I'm struggling to motivate myself to do my electrodynamics assignment...

I saw the special biscuit tins in my local Woolies! Well, like Arassuil says, I think it was just the Kokoda one...

Anyone following the ANZAC day AFL match? Collingwood winning so far

Thanks for the good luck celeb... alas there was not much I could do to prevent it going badly!

I saw Avengers last night! It was great!
Joss Whedon is still the master of the ensemble cast. I can't believe how much character development he managed to fit into a movie with so much going on.
Lots of signature 'Whedon' moments that made me smile.

I've never been further west than Longreach and Portland in this country. One day I'll change that! Hope you're having fun Elora.

I was thinking I might want to see Dark Shadows, but it's not as big-screen essential as The Avengers, and I do need to watch my spending.

Another long night tonight trying to get my lab report done by tomorrow! If you need to know anything about antennae I'm your gal.

Hmmmmm.... I want to see Avengers and Dark Shadows. :D

Perth was awesome. I can truly recommend Fremantle. However the CBD cracked me up. It is exactly what the letters stand for - a Business District. Once Mon to Fri, 9 - 5 has passed, it's deserted!

Sounds like those guys know how to take a weekend off :)
Speaking of, I'm loving this three day weekend. Completely wrote off Saturday for study and got some long-required shopping done.
Today turned into another procrastination fest, but hopefully we'll be back on track in the morning.

I had a much needed break - bedlam at work and filling three jobs at once, including Interim CEO... Not sure how I will cope with a full working week. I may go into shock!

Thanks for the happy birthdays! It was a quiet day but I liked it that way. Unfortunately I procrastinated all the way through it and now I'm paying the price.
So I'm going to be missing in action for the next three weeks (that's when exams will be over).

Hope you all keep checking in and being friendly and in the rare case that a new member (or long lost old one) drops in convincing them that this is a cool place to hang out

Ok, off to slay the dragon!
Take care :D

So the first State of Origin game came and went, and there was controversy.
First by the game being played in Melbourne, and secong was a referee's call.

So.... was it a try or not?

OK - so first up I need to admit bias. Under state of origin, my origin is NSW. I was never so interested in state of origin until I was a Cockroach living in QLD (on campus as an impoverished undergrad in my late adolescence).

When some charmer decided to tear the windscreen wiper off the rear of my battered Ford Laser hatchback, parked on campus on a state of origin night with NSW licence plates, I suddenly became intensely interested.

It's been exceptionally an disappointing stretch these past 6 years for a Cockroach. I stopped watching the live telecast, mainly because I couldn't bear the loud wailing, swearing, shouting, howling, gnashing of teeth, jumping up and down on the lounge and around the lounge room, shaking of fists and then the inevitable slump of bitter defeat.

So, I did not watch the game last Wednesday. But, like so many, I have seen the footage from umpteen different angles since.

With all of that context and caveat, I say this: IT WAS A KNOCK ON!

Of course, why would I say anything else? I pride myself on my objectivity. I like being a scientist. But I am not sure I can validly claim to be objective on this. I definately think it was not a try, and I am a definate candidate for bias exclusion.

P.S

Meant to say this when I was last by: Celebalqua, love the graphic in your sig! Please tell it is a real book or blog or site or something. Please, please, please!

Hi Elora,
I am reliably informed from the TVM thread that it is a real book and a good read. I liked that it mentioned Science and Middle Earth, my two favourite things.

Yeah, I am known for being a little too direct at times. He could do with a little interpersonal skills coaching to build his "brand" in his home country. Actually, who am I kidding. A little? A lot, a whole lot.

Ahhhhhh.....hairdressers.....having a dismal time on holidays, primarily because my work commitments won't release me. Two days in, epic fail in terms of time out from work.

Tonight, hairdressers....surely that should help me get my work life balance back into the correct ratio.

I've got an appointment for Saturday arvo. This is my last visit before France so my guy is under the pump, but I love how he does my hair so I am confident..
