If you're from South or North Carolina, this guild's for you

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

It's a little bit of both actually. I don't have regular internet until tomorrow or the next day. And I'm certainly having... fun ;) learning my way around the city. :D Everything is great though. I've spent almost every night out with my flatmates. :) When I have internet in my room I'll be more of a regular again though. 8)

Alex, you're in Scotland????

Wow!! I have been away for forever!

I got to go to NC for labor day weekend and I hung out with my cousin all day.
I just celebrated my birthday, which is today. If you really want to know how old I am, hint, I'm the same age as my birthday.

I thought that I would go ahead and tell you all that I will be having the surgery on my jaw about November 21st, after all the band stuff and other things. Maybe this year I will get the braces off as well.

Happy Birthday :) If you get the braces off you'll have to share a pic so we can admire your new look.

Nope, about 15 miles as the crebain fly. I did have a couple of friends caught in the evacuation though, but they're back home now. I'm glad I'm not head of that company, they already had something like 6 huge fines for not keeping the hazardous waste properly contained. There's already been a couple of lawsuits filed before the fire was even out.

Such is our excitement for the week.

I had several friends from various parts of the planet email to see if I was ok. I had to explain that I'm 29km from the site (I knew all those science classes would come in handy some day). I knew we made national news again, but I hadn't figured that it would go international.

They evacuated just over 17,000 people (I didn't even know Apex had that many people), it was the largest non-hurricane evac in US history.

I'll be glad when the clean-up is through, then maybe the local news will have something *besides* the fire in the headlines (like "Hey, isn't this lovely duck weather we've been having?").

Yo, dolls.
Actually the surgery will be on November the 20th, it is set. *sighs* I hate needles. . . .

Sorry for being away for so long. Band. . . but this season is going very well. We have a tough competition this weekend with some other rivals in our class. This is our band's website : http://web.irvineonline.net/mcmb/index.html this pictures being shown on the main page are from our preview show.

Hmm, I hit a mailbox with my ghetto/abomination to mechanical engineering. AkA my little blue truck. But we got it to bend back and make it seem like nothing ever happened. :)

So you got away with no-one the wiser, Luthie? Good deal.

My aunt once wiped out our mailbox in an effort to avoid running over a squirrel.

Greetings Jestre!

How is the weather up in NC? We practically froze down here in Columbia last week, and now it's balmy again.

It's been balmy that last 3 days. The low tonight is forecast for the hi 20's. There's a saying here "If you don't like the weather, wait three days." How true. Welcome to November in the south.

Thanks for the welcomes! The weather continues to be a bit on the nippy side here. Finally had to break down and close the windows :(

Probably a good thing now that it's nippy and wet.

Some of these power co. seem to think that living in the south means we don't need heat.

The one year I lived in the dorm our heat wasn't turned on till we came back from Christmas break. Let me tell you, december in the NC foothills is bloody cold!

I believe it! I'm originally from the SC foothills so I know it can get pretty freakin' cold. You really start to appreciate little things like heaters and long underwear. :P

Columbia is past the fall line, so we're not going to freeze soon... but we've had a few days when the thermometer was in the 30s, and the insulation in our duplex is such that interior temperatures are a scant few degrees away from the exterior temperature.
