If you're from South or North Carolina, this guild's for you

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

I don't usually have time to throw something like that together. Also, I haven't been to a moot so I'm not sure what all it would involve.

I stay pretty busy, I 'm a working actress so I have lines to learn, films to shoot, and scripts to write. Sleep is one of those things that gets scheduled every few weeks or so. I'm having minor surgery tomorrow so I'm on hiatus for a while, then the insanity starts again.

An Actress eh? cool :) What sort of stuff have you done? I guess nothing big since its NC.

Enter Professor Toby Stage Left:
Music: Quasi 1950s PSA

"Well eamane a moot has no set structure really it may last an hour or a whole day, it may be only two TORCers or more than a dozen, depending on the interests and desires of the participants the mooters may take in a show, see the sights or just hang out and shoot the bull"

Seriously though, It would be cool just to meet and hang out, I am always trying to meet more TORCers. :) And the nice thing is that It won't require much planning since we are fairly close to each other. (of course if some other NC TORcers emerge from wherever they are hiding it becomes harder to plan a get together.)

Hope your surgery goes well :)

Thanks for the info and the well wished.

I just finished a western about 3 weeks ago. I can't give the name since we worked under a "working title" and I have no idea what it'll end up being. I'll know more sometime after the new year. Productions are getting to be ever more secretive these days. I have had to sign secrecy clauses a couple of times.

As for the surgery, it's same-day so I'll be home later today. Nothing major.

Heh, I remember when it was a big deal just cause George Lucas used a fake title to disguise production of "Return of the Jedi" Thats interesting though, is it studio work? Seems like NC has the wrong sort of landscape for a western.

Welcome to the guild eamane!

I hope BT won't mind me passing on the news but let me just say that he has decided to come to the best university in the state to study ;) ;)

On that note, where's he been lately? *looks around for the balrog*

Let's see... what else has been going on in our fine couple of states, besides now hosting 0ld t0by? (welcome to the Carolinas bud )

It's going pretty good, OT. Just working on my cookbook, or rather, I'm supposed to be.

We did all the indoor shooting in Chapel Hill, I didn't have any scenes outdoors. NC actually has landscape for just about any genre. Well, not Iceland, or a desert, but we can cover most places a script will call for, provided it doesn't have to be something well known.

If you don't like lots of rain, you won't like NC much in the winter. Though, you'll get more snow where you are than we do here in Raleigh. I'll trade ya, we didn't get any snow last year.

Alex: what school is BT going to?

I had to ask. I went to NCSU.

Where will you be in Scotland? I lived in Edinburgh in the 80's.

Cool! What brought you to Edinburgh? How long did you stay?

I'll be in Dundee until summer 2007 and then I'm hoping to do a 6 month work visa somewhere else in the UK, where as yet undecided. :)

Well if it snows here you are officially preinvited to come over and enjoy it.

Hehe heat and humidity dont bug me so much (I've lived in San Diego and Hawaii) I more looking forward to the prospect of a winter that is very unlike the bloody stinking frozen tundra of Michigan.

I spent 3 months working in a pub on High Street, and lived in a building that was built before 1650 and is on a 1664 map of Oldtowne Edinburgh. The map even has the walkways in the garden out back, the garden and the walkways are still there just as they were on the map. I lived about 50 yards from the pub where I worked and I took piping lessons at the Army Piping School in Edinburgh Castle. I knew the Drum Major in charge.

This storm is a wimp. It probably won't even make it to hurricane status. Just lots of rain. You'll know you've been in a hurricane when you've been without power for a week and have stood in long lines for ice and water.

Toby, board up yer windows!! Fill up the bathtubs with water so you can survive for a couple weeks at least! And most important of all, canned tuna. You must buy lots of canned tuna.

That better? ;)

Toby, I hope you never have to go through a *real* hurricane. I still have a hard time dealing with high winds since Fran came through 10 years ago.

Alex, if you're going to get canned tuna, get the "chunk light" kind, no mercury problems.

Whew, I was starting to worry a bit. I never quite know what you northern types are going to do. And I have known folks that move then job hunt. Image

Sure, go ahead and add me. I'm not on all that much, but you might catch me on from time-to-time, usually when I'm goofing off instead of working (like now).
