- The Mariners' Guild - All the rum you can drink for free!

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Gee, it's a good thing I'm short - it must be tough for tall people to sleep in these spaces.

*Mith goes down into the hold to check out what we've got onboard*

This was not one of my brighter ideas...it's dank and dark down here. And it smells like mold and...worse things. Yuck! But let's see what we've got....
*a large collection of swords, newly polished
*a cask of rum. And another. And another... and...
    * a case of wine bottles, gathering dust
    * a large locked chest without a key (listens for heart beat, just in case....nah, nothing)
    * several kegs of gunpowder
    * a crate stamped "Fragile - this end up"...upside down.
    * extra sails...
Eeep! An a rodent of unusual size! I'm outa here...

*scoots up ladder extra-quickly*

sashays her way on deck

My Vala, is this barge still afloat? I commend you all, mateys. Extra ration of rum and all that. :D

Thanks for the email/wake-up call, MithLuin. Had too much rum last time... long, long nap!
No need for you to answer pesky questions, you're a Mariner already, shiny honorary one and I'll add you to the list. :)

Also, if anyone is looking for a promotion, now's the time~

Glad to see the usual suspects around, tips her hat in the Scribe and §ol's directions some old faces, waves at the long lost Vingilot and of course all the newer additions!

I've been wrapped around uni-work, some games and... rum, of course. Apologies for the captain's absence!

Now get swabbing, ye lazy bilgerats!

Erm...I think someone needs to check and make sure the rodents of unusual size aren't getting into the rum...

Ving sticks his head slowly up from a pile of rags in a corner of the deck and squints painfully in the sun...

Now this is more like it, amazing what a little pirate booty and a lot of rum will turn up! Hello to all, Ithy I think I deserve a promotion for getting everyone back here, and of course for bringing you back this beautiful jade and emerald necklace...

I think we were told to swab the deck. So, here, have a bucket and scrub brush. I'll take the one with the mop. I suppose the captain knows where this ship is headed, but I don't!

Swabbing the deck? Pfft. I didn't sign up for this! I signed up for pillaging and plundering and singing and grogging!

Let me warm up my concertina and we'll see what we can come up with...

Yo ho, all hands,
Hoist the colours high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
Never shall we die.

Yo ho, haul together,
Hoist the colours high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars,
Never shall we die.

Plays a few notes and then takes a swig from his bottle

My name it is Robert, they call me Bob Pittman
I sail in the Ino with Skipper Tom Brown
I'm bound to have Dolly or Biddy or Molly
As soon as I'm able to plank the cash down.

We'll rant and we'll roar like true hobbit sailors
We'll rant and we'll roar on deck and below
Until we see bottom inside the two sunkers
When straight through the Channel to Toslow we'll go.

I'm a son of a sea cook, and a cook in a trader
I can dance, I can sing, I can reef the mainboom
I can handle a jigger, and cuts a big figure
Whenever I gets in a boat's standing room.

If the voyage is good, this fall will do it
I wants two pounds ten for a ring and the priest
A couple of dollars for clean shirt and collars
And a handful of coppers to make up a feast.

There's plump little Polly, her name is Goldsworthy
There's John Coady's Kitty and Mary Tibbo
There's Clara from Bruley and young Martha Foley
But the nicest of all is my girl in Toslow.

Farewell and adieu to ye fair ones of Valen
Farewell and adieu to ye girls in the Cove
I'm bound to the westward, to the wall with the hole in
I'll take her from Toslow the wide world to rove.

Farewell and adieu to ye girls of St. Kryan's
Of Paradise and Presque, big and little Bona
I'm bound unto Toslow to marry sweet Biddy
And if I don't do so I'm afraid of her da'.

I've bought me a house from Katherine Davis
A twenty pound bed from Jimmy McGraw
I'll get me a settle, a pot and a kettle
And then I'll be ready for Biddy, hurrah!

Then here is a health to the girls of Fox Harbour
Of Oderin and Presque, Crabbes Hole and Bruley
Now let ye be jolly, don't be melancholy
I can't marry all or in chokey I'd be.

We'll rant and we'll roar like true hobbit sailors
We'll rant and we'll roar on deck and below
Until we see bottom inside the two sunkers
When straight through the Channel to Toslow we'll go.

You're old. :P

Yeah, I'm still around. Moreso of late, in the politics section. Finding that the site has swung from the extreme of being too busy/fannish for my tastes during the movie years to being too dead. Pity it won't return to how it was pre-movies. Ah well :)

So how's life treating you?

Nothing lasts forever, I suppose. ;) At least the politics forums must be fairly active at the moment.

And again, 6 months just passed me by! Life's been treating me pretty fairly. Even if it keeps me busy elsewhere, I can't complain. One of these days I'll be all grown up, too.

Hope all is well with you too, §ol. Pirates deserve a break too! :P

Great to see you again Ithy! I know what you mean about 6 months seeming to pass by in a flash . . . man it seems only yesterday that the snow was just melting and I was planning what to plant. Now here it is September and the leaves are turning in the river valley and fall is in full swing . . .

I think it is natural that people move on to new things eventually, so the old community is mostly gone - though they do occasionally drop by to visit. I miss many of the people who used to be here, but I keep up with what I can. TORc is still my online home, after all these years.
