The Guild of Beer Drinkers

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Last Thursday it was Kooinda Full Nelson Black IPA! :drink:

The week before it was Bacchus Brewing's Obama Black IPA! :drink:

This week it will likely be a Hefweizen... :P

Pumpkin-ale seems to be the thing here in the states as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. I've tried several, some good and some not so ....

Yeah, I can take or leave pumpkin ale... usually leave it when something else even remotely better is available. I been enjoying the Hargreaves Hill Pale in the warm, & their ESB is pretty good too!

I just enjoyed a pint of Belhaven Scottish Stout. Very good. Usually, strong beers with alcohol content over 6% taste too much like "booze" to me, but this one didn't.

I'm not a beer drinker, so this is my first post here, however if there happens to be anyone in Lancashire next month, there's the Middle Earth Beer & Music Festival happening the weekend of April 14th. :D It looks great, even for a non-beer drinker! :drink:

I am rather a fan of lager which would get me shot in most places where hairy real ale fanciers gather

I like ale, and I am not hairy. Pretty sure the husband would mention it if I was. I like lagers too. Heck, I like beer. Let's draw the line under that and leave it be.

Speaking of lager, I recently tried American Amber Lager by a local small brewery. It was quite good. 8)

*Rolls, grabs Rwhen's ankle and resolutely drags the thief towards the pool filled with red ale with a decidedly michevious twinkle in her eye*

There is a beer pool here, isn't there? Or am I getting confused with the Aussie Guild or the wonderful Rugby Guild of Winged_Balrog???

In any case, if there ins't a beer pool, there should be. One for each type of ale. It's off to the red ale pool with you, my lovely. :P

*slovenly salute, for I hail from an Aussie military family with a fine Aussie tradition of not saluting officers or wearing uniform*

Shall do, Rwhen!

Guess what showed up on the front doorstep while I was out slaving at the local salt mine? A whole box of Bridge Tiad Celtic Red Ale! A whole box!   :drink: :yippie:

Straight into the fridge to chill (autumn in these parts is still pretty warm by global standards).... And they've been there overnight and all through the day and today, right now - Friday afternoon has arrived and it's time to knock off from the salt mine.

A whole box of red ale...waiting, beckoning, whispering...."Elora! Elora! Come to you precious, Elora!"

Mmmmmmmmmmm. I love the weekend! And my husband clearly loves me, for they were a surprise he ordered for me (clearly sick of my whining about the persistent lack of good red ale in Brisbane).

Red ales... the Stone and Wood Jasper Red is quite a tasty drop. More balance toward the malt side compared to their Galaxy-hopped Pacific ale and their Lager.

Loving the local Western Australian beers here in Perth. Roger's Pilsner, Bootleg Brewery's Tom's Amber Ale and Feral Brewery's Belgian White Ale.

Yummy! Recommend Clancy's Fish Pub at Fremantle for any who might happen by the place. :D

Coopers Brewing have a one off red ale on tap at The Archive in Brisbane!

Worth sampling, or so I have been reliably informed. Now, to find the time to sneak away to do so... :)

Sort of on topic here. I recently visited my parents and stumbled upon my old beer can collection from when I was around 13. ( I won't say how long ago. ;) )

Hundreds of beer cans from all over the world going back decades. I admit that I was a bit sad when I saw so many US breweries now out of business or have since been bought out by one of the world's major brewers.

Anyway, I now have to figure out what to do with the cans as I am sure some are worth some $$$. Anyone ever heard of Champagne Velvet Ale? I have a cone top can from that brewery.

Cool beer can collection! Beer cans are coming back in vogue with many American craft breweries starting to use them. (Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, etc.) Some really cool looking ones out there too.

Anyway, new favourite beer bar is Tippler's Tap in Newstead/Teneriffe about a half a klik from the Citycat ferry dock and terminus of the 199 and City Glider. Green Beacon Brewing should be opening up in that area after the first of the year!
