The NZ Guild 3 - Want to talk to some Kiwi's

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

The NZ Guild 3 - Want to talk to some Kiwi's

Welcome once again, one and all, to the New Zealand Guild!
A Guild for all who like the country New Zealand, regardless of whether you have visited New Zealand, or not. This is a place where all who have a love for New Zealand, and anything else New Zealand, can gather and talk about the country and anything related, that has contributed much to the film production of TORC's number one movie. And this is a guild where any question about New Zealand can be answered

Hi, may I join?

I lived in NZ for about 3 months. I went to Capernwray Bible school up in Cambridge. I love, and miss, NZ so much. One of these days I hope to return...perhaps live there for a year doing environmental work.

Not as much as I would have liked. I toured around with my family for 2 weeks, before school started, which wasn't nearly enough time. Thankfully, I got to see both islands. I didn't go to the east coast of the south island though (or extremely far south). I loved everywhere I went though. I saw most of the north island.

 You didn't visit Christchurch or Dunedin then?

Not much on the west coast of south island but some breath taking scenery.
I'm actually going on holiday to the West Coast in July, to do some native bush walks etc

It was still amazingly beautiful. And I prefer the wilderness over people. We went to Franz Joseph glacier and climbed that...that was cool (no pun intended).
The Kia (I think thats what it was called) was sweet as...it ate our rental car which was highly amusing.

Where are you going for holiday? Have fun!

Ah!! There's a thread dedicated to my country!

I live in Auckland. I'm 20, and have lived here all my life (I'm about to turn 20) except for 18 months in the middle we spent in England for my Dads work.

I have family in Otago, so I do like the view when you fly over the country. Much like the picture in Tygarya's post :D

:) Indeed, lovely scenery. But when you get a bit lower, you get all that lovely farmland too.

I'm from the West. My experience of Canterbury is limited, but we've driven between Dunedin and Christchurch a few times, and I love Akaroa, such a beautiful harbour.

Indeed. We have heaters on all over the place - but that's partly because our drier chose to break this morning when I washed my clothes, so there are clothes everywhere trying to dry. We had a repairman yesterday fix the washing machine, but he said the drier wasn't worth it. Then today, it started banging and finally there was this "snap" noise... We're going to have to get a new one.
I'm going on a camp, so I kinda need clean clothes.

Ok, so it's not entirely freezing right now. And we'll never be as cold as you. But I do get cold easily. So my hands are almost constantly cold.

And what about the terrible weather some of the north hemisphere is having. So I shouldn't complain

Who's complaining?
I love the cold.....when there's snow on the ground! Which there isn't, so its not fair! Thats all I'm saying (okay complainng)
But so far Southland and Otago have snow, Mid North Island has snow, and we got by passed, but still got the temperatures! :bang: Yes I guess I'm throwing a tanty :thppt:

and yes I know about the bad weather overseas and yes I feel for them, they should all know to live here instead

BTW, where is your camp?

The camp is in Auckland.. south I think... ?

it's a christian camp for school holidays, and I got roped in to be a leader. I'm sure someone would be only to glad to send the snow your way.

I like sun, I like warmth... so long as I don't 'overheat'.

Hmmm, nothing worse than overheating I'll agree
You can always do something about the cold, by putting more layers on etc, but once you've stripped off and still too hot what then? You just have to suffer the sweltering heat. No don't like it at all
