The Followers of Eru #9! Come for Cheesecake!

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

The Followers of Eru #9! Come for Cheesecake!

Postby IrisBrandybuck » Fri Jun 15, 2007 7:21 am

Welcome to the Followers of Eru, a Guild for Christians! Come in, make yourself comfortable, have some cheesecake or hot chocolate or some other tasty treat homebaked by the residents. Pull up a chair around the fire and chat, sleep, or just commune.

EDIT: We've just stocked the library too! So take some time to browse, read, discuss... :)

Remember: "Share prayer requests, concerns, questions--anything you like! Think of this as your sanctuary here on TORC. I have the candles lit and the comfy cushions scattered about. Be refreshed, be renewed, be inspired, but just be here."

Remember!! to put any prayer requests or praises in bold so that we're sure to see them.

And now, the family song:
I'm so glad I'm a part of the Family of God,
I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His Blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod,
For I'm part of the family,
The Family of God

You will notice we say "brother and sister" 'round here,
It's because we're a family and these are so near;
When one has a heartache, we all share the tears,
And rejoice in each victory in this family so dear.

Chorus
I'm so glad I'm a part of the Family of God,
I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His Blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod,
For I'm part of the family,
The Family of God

From the door of an orphanage to the house of the King,
No longer an outcast, a new song I sing;
From rags unto riches, from the weak to the strong,
I'm not worthy to be here, but PRAISE GOD! I belong!

Chorus
I'm so glad I'm a part of the Family of God,
I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His Blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod,
For I'm part of the family,
The Family of God
(William Gaither)

I didn't want to be the first to post after the intro, but oh well.

Praise God, even when feeling empty and broken, praise God in joy.

One exam to go! And the one I had yesterday seemed to go well.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Endings and Beginnings
The book is shut, the door must close,
seasons end for ice and rose,
what we find when day is through
a fresh, new dawn awaits for you.
One day all endings shall be past,
where bright and fresh shall last and last.
For now, we have, by God's good grace,
a praying and a praising place,
a place to vent, a place to teach,
hearts to heal, and lives to reach;
all this and more in Eru's Guild,
to strengthen, love, support, and build.

Bright blessings,
Parm :)
Hooray for the joys of June!

A new thread, huzzah!!!

How is everyone doing? I've finished 1 1/2 weeks here at school. Its going pretty well, stressful though. We have so much homework and little time to do it. I worked on a paper for about 8 hours yesterday, and then 2 today.

Off to chapel...toodles.

Thanks for the new thread, Iris!

*waves goodbye to the old thread*

Well....my grandmother is still with us. I think this is good news :) Her infection is mostly gone! But she is still really weak, and her kidneys are not doing well. So...she's not out of the woods yet. But...she's still alive, and that has to count for something....

Mith: that's good news! Isn't it amazing how we defy expectation s as humans (of course God has an awful lot to do with it :D)

There was a minister friend of ours who was on dialysis and chose to stop the treatments. He wasn't supposed to live 2 weeks and he lived for more than 2 months and actually recovered a little bit and had time to really tell his family good bye and how much he loved them. *shakes head in amazement*

Nen, howdy! I hope school goes well, and hopefully your homework load will lighten up. :) Those summer sessions are a bear that's for sure.

We are nearing the end of our first semester. For those of you who are teachers,
you will probably be nodding sagely that this is a time when nerves are a bit
more frazzled, tensions can be high, and things get said and done that may be regretted later. Unlike North America, our summer is simply a break (an over-long break, to be true) in the term. We are to prepare final exams, then summer homework plans, and get ready for next semester. Summer in Japan is a mixture
of hot and muggy or very hot and very muggy. Strangely, blissfully, this part of
June, normally, very raining and sticky, is cooler and a bit drier. The rains, much
like Camelot, fall after sundown and by 8 a.m. the morning fog has flown...
uh, oh...I feel a musical coming on.
Quick!
I have to find my Darth Parm outfit.
That'll stop it!
Hooray for the joys of June!

*is smothered* Wow, that was....enthusiastic. But it's good to see you again, Mith and Iris. (And Dan, since I see you over in RPland all the time, tough luck. Just kidding. :D ) Anyway... Mith-- I'll have to be honest, it's been a rough past several months. I'm not going to go into it now, but I'm hoping it'll get better soon. And Iris--honestly, I have no idea. I don't see her around TORC much these days.

And if there's a musical, I call pit band. :D

Smor--hi!! Good to see you *hugses* I hope things look brighter for you.

Parm- I was just talking about that with someone today. The whole bio department at the end of this past semester was going insane, teachers and students alike. They could make it so much easier without finals, hehe. (Not like that would ever happen)

Mith--Glad to hear she is doing better! God is amazing.

Gwen- prayers for your mom and siblings as they move, and that they will have some cool weather to do it in!

I went sailing tonight, it was amazing. First time since October...how I miss those days. And we didn't tip over, huzzah!

Have an amazing day.

Our server is DOWN!
We were HACKED! Really!
It has been awful.
Grades and documents and student reports...and....
I feel like.... :pull: and:cry2:...to the n-th power!
I also feel like this about the hackers!

Oh, just ...lemme at 'em, lemme at 'em.

Yeah, it's sad, believe me missy,
When you're born to be a sissy,
Without the vim and verve.
But I could show my prowess,
Be a lion not a mowess,
If I only had the nerve!

Um...did I just see a new face?

Thanks Iris for starting up the new thread. :) It looks awesome! :D

Smor: :hug:s I've missed you in here.

Nim and Iris: mega :hug:s for you gals. I've been reading what's been going on with you both in the other thread in Talk. You both are in our prayers. Trust in the Lord always. He will get you through this. :hug:s

Parm: I'll send you my mad minstrel skills from this game I've been playing. My minstrel has one mean piercing cry. ;) You may use it as often as needed to beat some sense into those stupid hackers. :hug:s to you

Gwenny: I'll be praying for your family as they move. How is Jovan doing? (I hoped I spelled his name right. Please forgive me if I messed up.) I saw he was having some back problems. I know how rough that is. Continued prayers for him and you both as you prepare for your upcoming marriage.

Mith: We are still praying for your grandmother and your family. Please keep us informed. :hug:s

*waves to everyone else, including our newcomers* :)

I wanted to leave an update and prayer request.

The update is my dad is going well right now. I'm afraid he is going to overdo it because he has been moving some items into their new home. :nono: They have been only light items, but still.

The prayer request is for a fellow teacher's dad and her family. He went fishing at the beach and while touching a raw fish contracted serious flesh eating disease. He has undergone several surgeries and is now going through skin grafts. He has been given a 20% chance of survival. Please pray for them. I just can not imagine what they all are going through. :(

I'm sure I have forgotten something for which I apologize. I pray for you all often. Take care and remember the Dan Clan love you.

edit: I'm on the phone with my sis-in-law. My youngest niece is having a bad nose bleed from allergies. :(

Nen, woot for sailing and not tipping over. I'm glad you had a great time. :)

Iris, that is great news for that family. Praise the Lord. :)

I hope you all have a great day. :)

Nen and Gwen-- thanks. :)

Parm-- I hope somebody catches them soon. That's just awful!

Iris-- don't really know about that either, honestly. I haven't talked to her very recently. I do know she's going on a missions trip to Morocco soon, and her brother's getting married in a few weeks, so I guess she's pretty busy. And I was looking for your email the other day and couldn't find it, so mine is sunnyb64 at yahoo dot com.

Gwen-- ugh! I'll be praying for that family.

Gwenny-- I'll be praying for your family as they move too. And since I haven't been here in awhile, congrats on getting married! :)

*waves hello to Crucifer*

I guess as far as I go, it's just been a rough few months. Job issues, friend issues, lost a friend to cancer, singles group issues, etc. etc. The good news is, less than two weeks until I get away from my life and go on a much-needed vacation. :happydance:

Parm--I hope you can fix the problem quickly...
