On Saturday, September 28, 2013, Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, Mass will be celebrating the works of J.R.R. Tolkien with activities for all ages, such as:
• Live presentations comparing Medieval weapons to those found in The Lord of the Rings
• Introductory lessons in sword and staff combat
• Demonstration of prosthetic mask making
• Round-table discussions of topics related to the world of Lord of the Rings
• Games, storytelling, and sing-a-long for the young (and young at heart)
• Costumes encouraged!
Further information can be found here: http://www.higgins.org/middle-earth-day-1 (watch this page for updates).
We would like to extend an invitation for you to visit us on September 28, either as museum visitors (our hours are 10:00-4:00) or as volunteers. We’re looking for enthusiastic, outgoing people willing to dress as Lord of the Rings characters, join in our activities, and interact with our guests for the day.
If you have any questions, would like a copy of our flier to help spread the word, or want to volunteer, please contact Nancy Huntington (nhuntington@higgins.org).
