That sounds good to me, gives me a chance to get everything booked...okay maybe not quite everything as I learned last year that the trains only let you book so far in advance, but all the same I'm in favour of this.

A quick summary of the dates under consideration so far...

July

4th - 6th - Bad for Parmamaite

11th - 13th - Bad for Parmamaite

18th - 20th - Tenuous for Hobbituk

25th - 27th - Possibly bad for Stormeagle, Only weekend possible for JewelSong, Leoba & Dindraug

August

1st - 3rd - Tenuous for Hobbituk

8th - 10th - Bad for Hobbituk

15th - 17th - Bad for Niniel*, Stormeagle, not currently possible to book at Keble anyway

Any later takes us to the Bank Holiday/September.

General comments - Heliona and Wilko prefer August, Niniel*, Alys & The Angel prefer the beginning of August.

Please let me know if I've missed anything.

I'd say the front runners at the moment are the last weekend in July or the first weekend in August. Will add a poll soon.

July 4th-6th is bad for us - we'll hopefully be up in Scotland watching Nell's relatives herd sheep. :D (I'm excited about it if no-one else is. :P )

If the last weekend in July is the only one that some people (like Jewelsong) can make, I'd vote for that one. :)

It is not necessary to live in the UK to attend the Oxford Moot. I lived in the USA for my first three moots...and now I live in -Zambia! Where there's a will there's a way....

I just rechecked my work schedule...we have Monday, August 4 off and don't start our "Professional Development" week until August 5. So....I *could* make the first weekend in August, as well as the last weekend in July.

Due to some very thoughtless people at work booking their holidays before I had a chance to book mine (the cheek! :x ) I'd now really prefer the last weekend in July or the first in August. I might be able to do a different weekend in August, but it is less likely.

And, as others have said, the sooner we know, the better for me - we're very short-staffed and getting time off can be hard.

Alys, are you able to book the time off provisionally? Is there a calendar so that work colleagues are aware of others' plans? I just wondered if you could pencil in the last weekend in July and the first weekend in August and then rescind one of them later (since it looks like those are the two leading weekends)? Although I'd guess not, otherwise you would have mentioned it. :)

*sigh*

Booking leave is such a pain.

I have already done that for those two weekends, Heliona. :) The problem will come if it has to be another weekend and then I'll have to go into negotiations with my colleagues to see if I can swap days, or something of that order.

It might be worth mentioning that Monday 4th August is the August Bank Holiday.

Ah, yes, my calendar mentioned that when I expanded it. Still, very relevant to a lot of mooters. :-P (My predictive text just changed "mooters" to "looters". :lmbo: )

I hope that I can get there this year, but it depends on both the time and my finances.

Anyway, as far as I can tell at the moment, end of July or early August would be doable.

But I hear August is a really bad time to travel, with all the locals on vacation? True?

Most people go to foreign parts if/when they go on holiday. I've not ever thought that the UK gets very busy during the summer. I doubt you'd have any trouble, Frelga. :)
