Nutty Things I've Done

Come on over to Tom's House for the lighter side of Tolkien Fandom. Remember Tom's House is both powerful and innocent, so keep it clean and nice.

:) Oh, if she wants to do the audiobook way, I've listened to the BBC radio drama version, it was pretty good as far as adaptations go. Although I would go with an actual person reading the book there was one I loved (can't get it out from the library any more stupid audio casettes) and the guy you could tell loved Tolkien as on the back it said he would get dressed as a hobbit to do a live reading from The Hobbit.

Alasse: The pic is absolutely adorable. I kept it as my background for a few days, but eventually the allure of this one became too great... :D

I listened to the audiobooks before I actually read them or saw the movies. It helped my attention from wandering. We listened to them on long car trips... *reminisces fondly*

Lebasi, I'm sure you can work around it :D

I've never listened (I wrote read at first  ) to an audiobook before. It must be nice, during long rides.

Hiril, I'm happy to hear it was good enough to use as background :) I wanted it to be cute... well, actually, I thought that if a picture of two little elves playing isn't cute, then there must be something wrong with it :D

When you mention The Silmarillion to someone and they ask you 'What is that?' it takes you a while to answer because it's hard for you to remember that there's people out there who haven't heard of it  :D

Yes, hopefully. She did like the TTT films when she watched them too. But then she would if she liked Fellowship.

I haven't listened to one either.

I'd probably do something similar. Even most of the people I know who don't like LoTR have heard of the Silmarillion, if only because they know me.

You dream about TORC.

Hello there, Lebasi :)

I did dream about TORC  I was with people I knew where from here... don't remember what happened though. I dreamed about Maedhros and Maglor too :D There was a lot of people gathered for some concert, and Maglor just had to steal an instrument and start showing off his amazing musical skills  :lmbo:

Hello. Sorry it took me so long to post, I was kidnapped by Uruks.

Your dream sounds wierd. And good - I'd like to have a dream like that. I dreamed about TORC the other night. I met Hiril and visited her school, though I've never actually met her or seen her school.

BUMP

Sorry, I was bored and the thread hadn't been posted on for a few weeks  <---- (Rolling eyes at me by the way)

You bump threads that haven't been posted on for a few weeks (actually nearly a month now) when you're bored.

:D Indeed. I should have either done some homework (like I should be doing now) or gone to bed when I was bored. But TORC is obviously much more fun...

Well, I think that's what a bump's about. Actually I'm pretty sure but if I am wrong, I just made myself look stupid.

Do you think my Uruks got Hiril? Maybe I should send them to finishing school...

You finally go back and buy the edition of LotR you saw and when you're there you see another one which also has similar copies of the Hobbit and the Sil and are considering going back again to buy it.

Incidentally, I did do someting similar the other day...

I was supposed to be studying :D

Can you lend me your Uruks so I can sic them on someone? Pretty please?

You got the copy! Go get the Silm one and then give it to me! :P :D

Incidentally, I did do someting similar the other day...

So I'm not the only one

Well, I could lend you my Uruks but most of the time they prevent me from posting rather than anything useful. How about after they've been to finishing school?

I'd buy the whole shelf of Tolkien in that shop if I had the money, then you could have a choice of books to have. :D

Nope you're not the only one, I thought that would be the case if someone asked me...

It depends, how long till they finish?

My personal Tolkien collection is shamefully small but I lack the money to fix that :P

At least I don't need money to keep drawing :D

I'm not sure, I think it would depend on the finishing school they went to. You could have them now, but if they kidnap you, don't blame me.

My collection consists of 1 edition of the Hobbit (plus one of my brother's that I kind of nicked but doesn't actually belong to me; 3 editions of LotR (2 one volume, 1 three volume); 1 edition of the Silmarillion; 1 of Unfinished Tales and 1 of Tales From the Perilous Realm. It would be bigger if I had the money...

Great picture :D

I should draw even though I'm rubbish at it. I need to find the time though...

I sang songs with a fellow theater-friend from the musical Oliver for supper.
We sang in a mall, and for our pains got hot-dogs...and a very large cup of a soft-drink from the vendor who was very grateful for the draw we created for his business.
We sang for one more hour after that, and then took our bows...and our "bounty!"

Oh, the bravery of youth!

Never mind, no need for the Uruks anymore :P

I have 1vol LotR (English), 3vol LotR (Spanish), The Silm (Spanish), The Children of Húrin (English), Unfinished Tales (English), Book of lost tales 1&2 (Spanish), The Lays of Beleriand (English), The lost road and The peoples of ME (both in English) and finally The return of the shadow (Spanish). Oh, and The Hobbit, in Spanish
Planning on completing the HoME collection in English as well as buying the Silm and Hobbit in English :D

Thanks :)

prmiller, I really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing! :)

I'm flattered...

Thanks, Parm. That was interesting. But you wrote it normally...that threw me off slightly.

I should do that sometime. I like singing, so I should do that or something...that's funny.

Bleh. I've got a cold and I'm rather dopey because I took medication with sleep aid.

I didn't get kidnapped by Uruks...but I did get captured by two individuals, a deformed genius wielding a Punjab and a Fae with a fondness for glitter and tight pants...

*cough* What?

Crazy Things That I Have Done

I jumped off a 10 foot bridge with guy I befriended,
We played Rail Baron at restaurant until the last shift ended;
I challenged a Communist politician to be grateful,
he has freedom of speech, that where he came from it would be hateful.
I joined an impromptu theatre production
and received an ovation for my creative deduction.
I once crocheted mittens of Nepalese wool,
and lost them that week...how my sadness was full.
I sat down to watch every disk of the set,
of the LOTR series, expanded edition, on a bet.
I have eaten more pizza, I blush to admit,
than really ought to have, but loved ev'ry bit.
I have truly had blowfish...a sushi of danger,
and dunked for real apples in an old farmyard manger.
I went out for basketball, and at one-minute-four,
passed out from the stress, on the cold wooden floor.
I tried to learn diving, on a board at a pool,
and narrowly missed the side; Lifeguard: "You fool!"
Oh, the craziness I have stepped into and see,
that leave people a-gape at how God guarded me.

Blessings,
Parm :) Who has done other adventurous things, that others may think crazy,
but are precious memories. Scree-skiing anyone?

Top 3 nuttiest things.

1. I ate something gray once. I'm not sure what it was.
2. I scream bloody murder on a ferris wheel but ride those huge "anti gravity" things with ease.
3. I am to rational to be afraid of spiders but sometimes i think there's a ghost behind me.

BUMP...oops! sorry, slipped.

okay, I got another thing to add. I was on quizfarm taking "are you a hobbit?" and "what hobbit are you?" tests. I kept getting Merry, but for some reason, i didn't believe it. After like 30 tests, i still didn't believe it. And I kept getting the same thing unless he wasn't on the list. Scary.

I don't now why, but I freaked out. And the weird thing is, Merry's my fave characture and I should have been happy. I dunno.

I still scream bloody murder on a ferris wheel if you can drag me near one at all. But those anti - g things without seat belts are awesome.

Crazy Things...or What I Do When I Am Not Really Thinking...or When
Mrs. Parm is Not Around...Hello, Dear! Just a Reflection Poem...Really.

So there you have it,
clear as day,
I must be cautious
when I play,
for there are those
who need me here,
so I must live
with greater fear,
to step aside
from scary jaunts
avoiding realms
Adventure haunts.
However,
much to my dismay
Adventures find me
anyway!

Blessings,
Parm :)
