"They've taken the hobbits to Isengard."

Come on over to Tom's House for the lighter side of Tolkien Fandom. Remember Tom's House is both powerful and innocent, so keep it clean and nice.

I watched this iconic youtube video for the first time the other day, despite having not watched any of the films yet and I'm finding it hilarious.

To those who've known about it for ages, love it or hate it? Is it the bane of Tolkien fans, or, like Tom Bombadil, is it just a bit of fun?

I found it as a bit of fun and enjoyed it but was not reminded of Tom Bombadil.
Now that I think about it more..I don't know what I was reminded of..but still found it funny. Kinda catchy.

I went hysterical the first time I watched it. LOVE IT! Did you see "I've Got a Jar of Dirt"? It's very similar, only they used Pirates of the Caribbean instead of Lord of the Rings.

the anthem of all the nerd gatherings from my college days :D

Or one day sitting in the back corner of my psychohistory course, (taught by an 80 year old guy with bad hearing) the kid next to me played a prank by playing that on repeat really low on his laptop so that everyone could sorta hear it, but the professor couldn't figure it out. :D

Despite his deafness he is a nice guy though. Interesting professor :D

There is a 10 HOUR version of this. Who, in their right mind, could listen to that for 10 hours? Is this a brainwashing technique? To listen to it once is a hoot.. but more than that.. I cannot take. :P

For some reason I thought they had a 10 minute rule for most videos? I have been seeing more longer videos lately...

That was new to me.

Love Gimli's "I've heard enough"

and Gandalfs reaction...with his about to.. do the technicolor yawn.

I did not listen for the whole 10 hours but did click to towards the end starting at 9:59.25. The tune sped up then and had an interesting ending.

Thanks for sharing.

I do think 10 hours of this could make one more insane.

I saw the first 20 minutes of the 10 hr version. After that I got bored. I don't think anyone's ever sat through the whole thing. If anyone has, youtube should find out where she lives and sentence him or her to more outdoor activities.

How 'bout Trolling Saruman

Wacky and catchy is a good thing...in due measure.

I am watching it again and laughing again...until I can stand it no longer!!!!

So silly, it's funny...to me.

Just passing time..listening to this. :happydance:  :? :P

So many emotions are elicited.

Nice with ear phones. The stereo is better appreciated / enjoyed. :)

I am up to 11:02. My longest continuous straight through listening ( from the beginning ) so far. I find it helps me endure this longer if I am typing a message such as this is.

Now up to 13:13. And beyond.

Evidently, I have not heard enough.

I am :argue: myself.

Makes me wonder what a being from another planet would think of us if this was something they first came across the airways from us.

Just saying.

I hope they would appreciate our silliness...our laughter.

Well It got stuck in my head now.

It's almost as catchy as the Taters song with Sam and Gollum

I watched the first 2 minutes and then popped to the end. :roflmbo: I love the ending. I laughed so hard Ryan told me I might end up sleeping alone tonight. He says I am twisted but it was a screaming riot to see the end!!!!!

This was on high rotation with the kids in my household. Haven't looked at it in a while. Didn't know there was a 10 hr version, not sure I want the kids to know either!

Very catchy! :D

I still regularly get the Taters song stuck in my head while cooking!! 'boil em, mash em...' just automatically runs on from saying/thinking 'potatoes'! 8)

Ah, the things Ill do for science...

Postby frodolives668 » Thu Sep 20, 2012 3:48 pm

For an experiment in psychology, I tried to see how long I could listen to the 10 hr version before I couln't stand it. I had it play on my laptop while I did other things. After exactly 3 hrs 46 minutes i threw it accross the room. :pull:

Experiment complete.
