hey, this might be an interesting topic of discussion... I'm curious about all your usernames: how you chose them, what they mean all that (some are self-explanitary).....some of you all have very interesting ones....I'll start:<BR> My friend and I decided we needed elf names (long story), and my middle name is Meleah, so we changed it to sound more 'ringie' to 'Melia' (Melian is also my favorite Elf). that's all, nothing special....what about you?

AHH! this is bad.....the one who started this thread, talking about LadyMelia...yeah, that was me. My sister was on before (WeHatessyou) and didn't logout, so I assumed that I (LadyMelia) was already logged on, if that makes anyway sense...haha. Anyway, just PRETEND that the first post was by LadyMelia and not Wehatesyou, and it'll make a littlemore sense. sorry! haha. that'll teach me....

owfff, ok, 'ere I go again:<BR><BR>"Varda looked out upon the darkness, and was moved. All right then... the name I chose, Brandybuck warrener, is intended to symbolize my feeling of being something of an insignificant figure, 'just another in the horde of Brandybucks', getting herself underfoot as ought to keep out of the way and suchlike. One or two references in the book points to Buckland as 'a regular warren'....

When I first came onto this site I had just finished reading The Silmarillion (I read LOTR some time ago) and I was impressed by the sad story of Turin Turambar. I would have called myself Turin, but I did'nt want people to think I was a man!! That leads to all sorts of confusion<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><BR><BR>niniel seemed a lovely name, and though I am nothing like her, I can sympathize with her plight.<BR><BR>Niniel was already taken so I added the * which seemed more in character than just adding a _ to get the name....so I am sort of niniel star!!! Does that make sense?<BR><BR><BR>

I just got mine off the barrow downs name generator. Easy, and I'm not good at thinking stuff like that up.

Hmm well I see Eden as the perfect world (not really a religous reference...) and Elves as the perfect beings so...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> elf of eden. It's wishful thinking. Wouldn't it be great to be a perfect being from a perfect world? Then you'd be a good match for Legolas <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I just called myself this because I like Elves and I'm not very imaginative. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

On RB, however, I was very creative. I signed up 2 days ago under the name of "Gollumyousexybeastiluvyou" because I saw that there were *so* many swooners! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Galadriel's Quenya name was Altarial (with a / thing above the second a but I couldn't - and still can't - manage that). Not hugely imaginative but there you have it. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Postby Neenime » Mon Apr 08, 2002 5:51 am

OK, my name is the Elvish word for February - a significant month in my life. I rather liked the sound of it.<BR><BR>I like the more epic-sounding names that some of you have chosen. Onbiously some thought went into them.<BR><BR>According to the Barrow name generator, the translation of my birth name would be : Tanlachwen (or Tanlachiel). Not bad but a bit of a mouthful, so I'll stick with Neenime (pronounced Nee-ne-meh).<BR><BR>

Mine is self explanatory if you know the family. My very petite, 4'10", daughter has been in many chat rooms as Sweet Pea. She started very young and at one point seemed to be chatting with one character who seemed to be closer to my generation. Being the mother I am I had to 'meet' this person and 'Old Begonia' seemed a sufficiently antithetical cultivar.<BR><BR>During the couse of the conversation I morphed into a 1500 lb she-bear, hence the House of Beor.<BR><BR>

A no-brainer really, although it has nothing to do with any of Tolkien's writings. I just love cats; I have several. (Before I start getting "barked" at by all dog lovers, just let me say like dogs, too. I just can't have one in my apartment. Go yell at my landlord.) I was going to call myself Catwoman, but that sounds too Batmanish. N liked Batman.

Well...<BR> "calen" means "green (or bright)" and "miriel" means "sparkling like jewels." Maybe that doesn't make too much sense together, but oh well.<BR>Oh yeah, and 2139 is Legolas's age during the War of the Ring. (or at least I read that somewhere.)

I used LOTR because I'm totally taken by anything that has to do with Lord of the Rings<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>...dd are my initials<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> and 859 is my birthdate<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0>. I wanted to change my user name to my Hobbit name but found out that that wasn't possible<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-crying.gif"border=0>, so I just sign off with it.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0><BR><BR>Camellia Took of the Great Smials.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
