Mine is my Elvish name. I came up with my Elvish name before I joined TORC, but it makes perfect sense to use it here and on other LOTR websites. I wanted something with Star in it, since I aspire to become a professional actress one day. My name means: Star-queen Glittering-jewel! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I thought it suited me! Anywho, that's my story.

well my name is really boring as you can see. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> i have a hard time coming up with good screen names and things like that. i just chose the enchanted_elf part because i couldn't think of anything else, but the 201 thing is different. 21 is my favorite/jersey-for-soccer number, but i wanted something different so i just stuck the 0 in the middle there. adds variaty. i wish i could somehow change it to make it more interesting, but we can't... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>

What and where is the Barrow Downs generator? How does one use it? It gives you your "hobbit name?" Any answers would be appreciated. Just curious you know. (meow) <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
My name is a looooong story. If you want to hear it, read on. If you don't skip to the next post. What makes the story so long is that as a matter of fact the "Darmok" bit and the "the Green" bit have completely different backgrounds.

Darmok was a name I used on a chat room in order to alert a friend to my presence, I knew that my friend went to this chat room but I didn't know all the names she used - both of us knew the significance of the name 'Darmok' so I expected if she saw my name she'd realise who it was. It didn't work, but I decided to keep the name 'Darmok' for other chat rooms and message boards I posted on.

"The Green" as most of you probably figured out, is a wizard 'color' designation, and it stems from a dream I had which somehow combined Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. In LotR, Gandalf 'dies' and returns, no longer as the Grey, but as the White. In SW, Obi-Wan dies and returns, no longer as a corporeal entity but in spirit form. However, in my dream Obi-Wan's return was more Gandalf-like, namely: his blue lightsaber was replaced by a green one! This of course, made him 'Obi-Wan the Green.'

And so, when I decided to join a Lord of the Rings message board, I realised I had to make my usual screen name, Darmok, more of a Tolkien name, and so I added 'the Green' on the end due to my dream.

So there you have it.

My name pipperry is just Pippin and Merry put together because there my #1 favorite charecters.

Now my little sister's zeldaringset is a kind of long story.
Well she plays the legend of Zelda games and thought Zelda was a cool name and made up a new charecter in LOTR whose name was Zelda. Now Ringset is my sister's Zelda's last name. She got it when one day she was at a name gennartor (I stink at spelling but oh well) and needed a last name for Zelda and her friend who was there with her said "How bout Ringset?" and my sister liked it and when she asked where she got it from her friend told her that she got it off the our phone (we have one that's right next to the computer) and it said "ring set" on it and my sister thought it was a kinda neat last name so she left it.

Well, when I first came to TORC, I very much liked Legolas, so I thought I should have Greenleaf in my name...I also like nature and all, so that sort of conveys it. Valene is my name in a different form. My name is Valerie. Valerie is from latin and it means strong.

I love cats. I first thought I'd choose "kissa" for my username. That's "cat" in Finnish. But I believe that in Swedish the word means something less pleasant... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> "Cat" seemed somehow too ordinary and likely to be already taken by someone, so I decided to go with "feline" instead.

Merry_Brandybuck: Well, that makes me feel somewhat better, though I think I'd rather be tragic than a drunk. I also typed in the names of some of my friends and co-workers, and it came up with things like "slobbering orc" "wicked snaga." Wasn't anyone anything nice in Middle Earth??

Hey, this is my first post at this site!

I was so surprised when I tried out this member name and nobody had already taken it. I got "Starbrow" from The Smith of Wooton Major and I always thought that was a cool name and had cool symbolism, you know wearing a jewel on your forehead that identified you to the elves. Starbrow also has the double significance of being the name of a character I made up. Not strictly LOTR, but very close.

These are are so facinating! seriously, when I read and post on other threads I've always wondered about your names...now I know most of them!
Maybe I should explain the username I accidentally used to start this thread...........its actually my sisters (who hadn't logged out before I got on)... She's practically in love with gollum (she's a lot like gollum, lol) so she's started acting and speaking like him when she's goofing off, and now has our whole family using his lingo: i.e. we hates you, nasty hobbitses, we wants it, ach sss (from the lotr cartoon movie)... so wehatesssyou just seemed perfect for her. no, she actually doesn't hate everyone, she just loves gollum. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
keep 'em coming! this is cool!
