Any Bible Quizzers out there?

Bible quizzing is a really fun game, (though during tournaments I begin to have this hyperactive feeling like, NO we MUST WIN!! ha ha JK) Where each year quizzers study a certain portion of the bible, this year it being Herbrews and 1st and 2nd Peter. Then, we sit on little clickers that are attatched to a switch box, so if you jump of your clicker, the light that is connected to your clicker goes of, and a tone sounds. If you jump first, your lights stays on, and you get a chance to answer the question, to get points for your team.
In BIC quizzing, you have to finish the question, so, say if you jump at the words "This Melchizadek was-"
You have to finish the question, and if you have about the same question you have to also answer the question.
"This Melchizadek was what?" 'That is the question, you may continue' "King of Salem."
'Correct!'
It is REALLY fun! plus you have all this scripture memorized that comes in handy in leading others to christ and religion debates.
Some quizzers are so good that they can jump after two words like "Jacob Leaned-" and get it correct. My brother has so far memorized completely 11 chapters of Hebrews.

Well, this doesn't sound liek the same thing some of my friends are in, but it's the same basic idea. They're in Bible Bowl and are studying Joshua and Judges. One guy is really, really good. His team came in second at Nationals one year. I watched a meet once and his team was undefeated and he got a perfect score on the test. Pretty cool.
Lara

Bible quizzing was great! We did it last year. My older son memorized John 15, 16 and 17. He was one of the top scorers in their group and won some award for that and for it being his first year ever doing it and doing so well. He didn't want to do it this year, and we didn't make him. He is doing Mock Trial this year instead. That is very cool too. You compete in division, than region, state, etc.. The team puts together a defense, a prosecutor, witnesses, jury and the only non team member would be the actual judge who judges the teams. Their first competition is this Wednesday. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Awana Bible Quizzing is a little different from the other quizzing, and I know people who do both.
Awana Quizzing is done with two types of questions: Multiple choice and huddle. In multiple choice the Quiz Master asks questions to each team (about four people) and then he states three answers, and the team has to try and choose the right answer off of a set of paddles in five secnds. They then raise the paddles up, and the place goes wild depending on how many correct answers there were, etc. If they get it right, they get points for the team. Junior High and High School (JV and Varsity) score off of one set of paddles, and 3-6 grade (Truth&Training) score off of individual sets of paddles for each child on the team. Varsity only competes against Varsity, and JV agains JV, etc.
Huddle is done with all of the team, where the team has a white board and a marker and an eraser. The Quiz Master asks a question
and the team has fifteen seconds to answer the question. They get points for answering it correctly, zero points for a partial or no answer, and negative points for a wrong answer. Points are added up, and winners are decided based on scores.
The material that we are quizzed on is our handbook for that year. This year in varsity it was a Study in Romans, JV did the seventh or eighth grade books, depending on their grade, and T&T did the red and blue books (equivalent of 3-4 grade, due to a transition in material Quizzing is a little messed up at the moment).

there are a couple of quizzers from my church around here somewhere..........

Here I am! Took my fifth year of second place this year, and was a Varsity Quizzer. Good to see you here in Tom's House, PT. A couple of quizzers, eh? Who are the others? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>
