Ah.....No!

When this young lady came back she used the same id but had added another word on the end.

'came back' is also a clue

I do not know the answer but want to say... in response to the quote

Female, youngish and shy.

Just like you and I

Two of my very favorite ladys shared thoughts.

:rose: :rose:

Both of you make my chest heave in joy...everytime I see you.

Is it Eliana? I think she later posted as Eliana_returns.

OK.

Let's take a similar case. An old member, a male this time, joined in 2000 and posted until 2004. He returned for a while in 2008, under a new username which in Hebrew would mean "new username son of old username".

Who was this guy?

The only Hebrew thing in his username is the "son of" part. There's rather a taste of Russian in both the original and new username, although I believe that this guy is/was American.

He's not called "Son of XZ" but rather "X son of XZ".

*face palm*

Yup. I don't even have to go look, I recall the name perfectly now. I think sometimes I just get lost in the magnitude of how many people have come and gone from TORC since I joined. I need to start using other tools to figure out these ones that I am unsure of.

When Rowan posted the question, my brain immediately thought that I should know who that was. *nods*

We can await Rowan to confirm, but you got it.

Not yours or mine, it isn't any posters concern
But this guy's name suggests he is here to learn
The bliss, the joy, when in books he stops by
And writes as humans pass away, a long sigh
Calling into Toms often, amusingly he proudly came
Quizzing and quoting he certainly raised his game
Ten days short from one years stay
Lets hope he returns one fine day

What TORCer signed every post with just an initial and about ten spaces below the post?

Lord V

Not long after having joined TORC, I met him in SuzieQues thread, which I unfortunately can not find. He mentored me then later said he did not have more to teach me. He was wrong. He could have taught me much more.

He loved to stir the pot and sported Gladiator pictures in his sig...for a while.

He was fun to post with and I remain glad he was here to "show me the ropes'.

I wish him well.

edited to add...

I said on 09 Aug 2001 20:33

For my 500th post, I've been sitting here trying to think of
something profound to say...

First of all, I want to say THANK YOU to all the helpful members who have answered my questions and to all the members who contributed their comments to my threads.

And a special thanks to my sponsor, Lord V., who has done a super job of showing me the ropes.

Bravo!

I was thinking of Lord V. So FT did get it.

And I remember that contest. But can't recall who won. Was the thread in Movies or Talk? Maybe neither. :D

But I will do some digging around.

Sandra, you are right, basil does use a "b" to sign off, but he doesn't put all those spaces after his post and then the V. Or maybe he does sometimes, I don't really see it on the HELLO thread. BUT if he does, you both could technically be correct.

:D

Good luck. Or we could get some hits.

FT, was the person who won male or female?

Hey sandy and rwhen.

Thanks for playing.

That neither of you can find the answer easily makes me happy.

Nice to pose a trivia question which is not easy to answer.

Now..a hint.

The TORCER who won "The Best Overall Signature" in The 2001 Signature Contest had the following words in their signature...

We've always been Chevy guys. Even back when we were just kings, we hated Fords.

Those words described what was in their sig and is a clue to their TORC name.

Notice rwhen that I did not indicate their gender. Not yet. :)

Or maybe I did.

You are right Sandy. There was an earlier Sig Contest.

I do recall reading ( within the 2001 one ) about an earlier sig contest and about there being hopes of some definite winners in it. Their comments spured me on to making sure there was.

Following are the comments, within the sig contest 2001.

Sauron's_Nagging_Wife posted: 11 Aug 2001 20:47
I didn''t win last time, but that was only because there was no winner.

Also, Star-of-Hope posted 11 Aug 2001 21:24
Great idea, as long as we vote this time

Both SNW and SOH made me glad I started the contest and they most definitely made me want to finish it properly.

You did find the right thread and Lord V did win the "The Best Non-Middle-earth Related Picture" category.

But he did not win "The Best Overall Signature" category.

Also, you asked...

I can't find that particular post but I did see other posts in that thread which I have edited recently to correct spelling and or grammatical errors . I have a tendency to edit my old posts when I find errors in them, even though no one else will probably ever read the posts again...other than me. I admit I am a bit obsessive about some things.
