I did find the overall winner for the contest, it is just one page back Sandra.

Since you found the thread before me and I will be out of commission for a bit, why don't you take it.

:D If you don't want to, I can post the winner. :D

Howdy Jules.

The first post of the thread ( after many edits ) summarises all the winners but for me the true beauty of the thread is so much more. The magic and pure beauty of the thread is because of all those who joined in it, shared their creativity and thoughts. It really is one of my most cherished threads. It is the first one in which I met so very very many cool TORCers..not long after I joined TORC. I was less than a month old at TORC at the time.

I saved a link to the thread on my PC and am so glad I did.

I can still see their sigs in my mind and am so glad I can relive my time with all of them thru their words. 8)

Very cool.

Revisiting the thread I found this...

Thank you IsildursHeir.

Wow, that was pretty cool. Wish I would have joined earlier and got in on it. Oh well. Maybe another time.

Glorin was me..as was Orcrist ( The Moderator ).

Those were my only two alter egos here on TORC.

After that time I remained just Efffff Teeee. :)

Yes, I did sandy. Very many cool TORCers posted in the thread.

There are two more reasons why that thread, in particular, remains special to me.

First of all, during the contest, the attacks on The World Trade Center Towers 9-11-2001 occurred. I remember needing to collect my thoughts during that time. Thinking about what was important to me and possibly to others.

Anyway, there were "runoffs" in the contest because of some ties ( equal votes ) in some of the categories but I was determined to have "winners" in all categories. Mainly for the sake of completion and even more because of what SNW and SOH had said earlier. When I revisit that thread I relive that time. I can see my mood change after the 9-11 attacks, but can also see my determination to finish it and have clear winners in each of the 7 categorys. It was so good for me to see Lord Vs', Ithiliens' & Shelronds' happiness in that they were chosen as best in their categories. I needed to feel their joy.

Also, it is special because the Admin thought well of the contest and honored me with the "Third Page from the Book of Marzabul" icon thingie which I remain so proud of. And miss having.

I have been wanting and needing to share how much and why The 2001 Signature Contest still means so very much to me. It is good for me to finally share.

Thank yall for bearing with me.

All that being said, Sandy :) , it is your turn to pose a question.

What is Whistler's real life name? I have met many creative people on TORC who I consider genious. He remains one of the most genious TORCers I have ever met. Whistler is a writer. A writer of profound smoothness and humore. I envy his gift.

Even if you do not know Whistler's real life name..you might know his favorite drink.

If you do, say so.

Still.. ( I am so glad I saved a shortcut to his TORC posts ) I love rereading them. I am moved to bump a few. 8) But will not for right now.

I remain so glad I reached out to Whistler via e:mail and got to know him better. He responded via e:mail and so did HFB when I reached out and e:mailed him. I remain very honored that both of them took the time to talk with me.

Very cool. 8)

I fondly remember HFB saying he was flattered that I took the time to contact him via e:mail not long after I joined TORC. I remain very honored that he responded. When I first joined TORC HFB was the "stuff" many TORCers talked about and admired...and sorely missed. Their feelings touched me and moved me to contact him. He really was cool to share thoughts with...away from TORC. By that I am saying he left TORC before I joined. Therefore I did not get to share thoughts with him here.

I sent HFB / Dan an e:mail enquiring as to why he quit posting just before he became a ringbearer. Cause I wanted to know. He was cool in replying.

These memories are not trivial to me.

==========

Now, back on topic...

What is Whistler's real life name?

Even if you do not know Whistler's real life name..you might know his favorite drink.

If you do, say so...or make a guess.

Either correct answer gives you the honor of posing the next poser.

I don't know the answer to Whistler's real name or what is his favourite drink so I'll have to rumage through unless someone else knows.

I share your thoughts about HFB, Frodo. Dan and I used to e-mail quite a bit in the early torc days. He and his girlfriend are really nice people :)

Hey sandy

Whistlers real life name, not many TORCers know.
But his preferred drink was favored by Poe.

The drink begins with a and ends with e
No more clues for now from me.

the only thing I could think of was eclipse, but I am not even sure that is a real drink. :P I assume you are speaking of an alcoholic beverage.

I didn't have the pleasure to really post with Whistler. Sorry to say it.

I actually do know his real name, but won't put it here because I'm not sure what he'd say about it; he only revealed it on a members-only forum on HoF.

But, he mentioned absinthe quite often, so it probably was at least his TORC character's favourite drink. :P

You got it right. 8)

What is HoF?

I learned Whistlers real name through exchanging e:mails with him. He turned me onto a website of his, which is still active.

I still consider him a genious writer. One with a great sense of humor.

I too, because of what you said, will not state his real life name, out of respect for him and you.

You have the honors.

Please ask a new poser. :)

Thank you Jules. :) I did search for "HoF Tolkien" on the internet and found myself back here on TORC. Then I used the TORC search and found a TORC thread ( from 2010 ) in which Whistler shared links to his Gallery and Blog. He shared his real name within each of the domain names.

Therefore I don't feel remise in saying his real life name is Van Evan Fuller.

Hello, my friends! It's a pleasant surprise that you're still here. These days I divide my time between my online gallery and a new blog I've established. The gallery is here:

http://www.vanevanfuller.com

I dropped by TORC for a copy of my old satire Green Eggs and Lembas. I have created a new illustration for that piece, and I wanted to post it on the blog. If you go there, you will see it now.

It's wonderful to hear from you again!

His galleries and interview are quite cool to see, in my opinion.

Speaking of interviews, here is Whistler interviewing Peter Jackson, which I think remains classic. :)

Shouldn't we start a new thread for this game, this one's already reached 500 posts?

I've thought up something, but won't post it until I know if we continue here or in a new thread.
