Out of the mouths of babes.....

Greta is a child miracle worker...or has the potential to be if only people would listen. Her ideas are harsh for most to deal with, but we are in an emergency situation. "We" at our age may not have to think of the total effect of global climate change...but our kids and grand kids will.

I really dig this little gal how has the guts to stand up to folks who are going to laugh behind her back or openly tolerate her. We need more like her!!!

I have hopes that the social movement created by the Parkland survivors will develop along a path leading to some lasting good results. I believe CC is well on its way. November next year may give a look into our near future WRT gun issues and CC.

In the world of our Fungal Friends, change is afoot!

>>The thermal restriction zone that protects mammals is the difference between their high basal temperatures and the environmental temperatures. Human-induced climate change is anticipated to warm Earth by several degrees in the 21st century, which will reduce the magnitude of the gradient between ambient temperatures and mammalian basal temperatures (12). Consequently, there is concern that higher ambient temperatures will lead to the selection of fungal lineages to become more thermally tolerant, such that they can breach the mammalian thermal restriction zone. In this regard, experiments with an entomopathogenic fungus have shown that these can be rapidly adapted to growth at higher temperatures by thermal selection (13), establishing a precedent for an animal-pathogenic fungus adapting to mammalian basal temperatures. Most worrisome, analysis of thermal tolerances for fungal isolates deposited in a culture collection showed a trend of basidiomycetes for an increased capacity to replicate at higher temperatures, an observation consistent with an early adaptation to higher ambient temperatures beginning in the late 20th century<<

It's a shame big oil and money over-rule common sense. Even if someone didn't 'believe' in science and global warming they should realize that wind and solar power is better for us, the environment, all the critters, and our planet.

Some may think Greta is a pushy nosy busybody.
There are others

>>The new report is especially significant given the Trump administration’s climate science denial. Commissioned by General Mark Milley, now the highest ranking military officer in the United States, the report not only concludes that climate change is real, but that it is on track to create an unprecedented catastrophe that could lead to the total collapse of US society without serious investments in new technology and infrastructure. However, while focusing on projected climate impacts, the report does not discuss the causes of climate change in human fossil fuel emissions.

The report was written by an interdisciplinary team active across several US government agencies, including the White House’s Office of American Innovation, the Secretary of Defense’s Protecting Critical Technology Task Force, NASA’s Harvest Consortium, the US Air Force Headquarters’ Directorate of Weather, the US Army’s National Guard, and the US State Department.<<

Few things are more motivating for a teenager than a good excuse to skip school.
"...Their aim in war with Germany is nothing more, nothing less than extermination of Hitlerism... There is absolutely no justification for this kind of war. The ideology of Hitlerism, just like any other ideological system, can be accepted or rejected, this is a matter of political views. But everyone grasps, that an ideology can not be exterminated by force, must not be finished off with a war.” - Vyacheslav Molotov, ""On the Foreign Policy of the Soviet Union", 31 October 1939
