Crimson Peak - a Guillermo del Toro gothic romance. I really enjoyed it. It's the type of "horror" that I like, and the three leading actors were very good in it.

Taken (the first movie) was the best of the lot.

""The Lion In Winter"

With Peter O'Toole and Katherine Hepburn.
Caught it on the telly the other day.
The acting was outstanding.
Hepburn and O'Toole bounced off each other so well.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword I was both thrilled and disappointed. I loved the movie even though it was nothing like as advertised. Now I want to see the movie I thought it would be -- something more akin to Gladiator.

The Martian
Good movie, excellent cast. I wish they'd keep more of the science in, and it seemed that all Mark's problems just... happened rather than sometimes result from his miscalculations. Also, not enough Sebastian Stan and Michael Peña. Upside - Sean Bean didn't die.
Impressive. Every word in that sentence was wrong.

The last movie I saw was Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters on Netflix. The first part of a trilogy, the anime film isn't bad, but definitely feels like an over-extended first act. I might like it better after seeing parts two and three. Visually, it has a very hard edge, but its a bit sterile, having a look that is very similar to the anime series Knights of Sidonia (unsurprisingly from the same production company). If you are a fan of Big-G or of military science fiction then I can recommend this.

Snatched ...... 2017 ....... Amy Schumer ....... Goldie Hawn

I didn't dislike it since it isn't my type of genre but it was a pleasant jump out from horror/thriller for a time. Goldie and Amy worked well together and was surprised to see Christopher Meloni in his one as well. Good escapism.

Lion

IMO, Kidman is just plain good in anything she does, even in a minor, supporting role. I would've like to have seen more of Patel's character growing up in a new land rather than all the emotional turmoil he went through in looking for his original home and family, but one of the better movies seen

No... But it took pretty much the whole movie to process that it wasn't the film I was expecting. I need to watch it again to have a clearer perspective.

I don't want to give off spoilers but also don't want to be too obtuse. The fight at the end and the building site reminded me of LOTR. Also the site of Camelot looked like Gondor's mountain setting

Hostiles, dir. by Scott Cooper
Excellent flick, Bale and Pike, good work. And Wes Studi always makes a film noticeable. If you want to see Cooper in a movie, catch Broken Trail where he helps Robert Duvall save some Chinese girls in the West

Just saw 12 Strong today.

I liked it, and not just because Chris Hemsworth was in it.

It was kind of cool that his "wife' in the move was played by his real life wife Elsa Pataky.

And that's why it's "Underdog"! :)

IMO movies and entertainment are personal things. I've read reviews by professional critics whose reviews lead me to think they haven't seen the flick.

Just saw 12 Strong today.
I've been avoiding movies like this over the past few years for reasons I won't go into here, but I did see this one, b/c the character CH portrayed was a real person and his real military accomplishments. A kid from Kansas, just like me. It's difficult to evaluate a movie based on real people who lived and died on artistic merits. So I do appreciate the telling of a real person's story this way.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight a DC Comics Animated Original Movie. Batman vs. Jack the Ripper in a Victorian-era Gotham City. The animated movie is based on the Elseworlds story by Brian Augustyne (story) and Mike Mignola & P. Craig Russell (artists), though it's less of an adaptation than a reinterpretation, with additional characters and narrative changes. As a self-contained 'what if' story it is still very good and some might even like it better than the original comic-book version. I'm not quite sure that I'd go that far, but I did enjoy it.

Good movie. Wasn't overly disappointed, but, if there's got to be a love scene in movies today, why can't they just fade to black ?
