Doesn't seem fair that someone who exudes that kind of joy and laughter would have to struggle with depression and worse.

I agree with that, kRAWLER.
I RECALL WHE HE WAS ON ACTOR'S sTUDIO. THE MODERATOR GOT TO ASK MAYBE 3 QUESTIONS. after EACH, wILLIAMS WAS OFF ON FREE FORM COMEDY, AND WAS DELIGHTFUL. ONCE OR TWICE THE CAMERAMAN SHOWED THE mODERATOR, WHO CLEARLY REALIZED HE HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE SOW. iT WAS SO FUNNY.
A really great talent. We will miss him so much.

This. :(
Someone said that comedians don't bring us joy, they take our sadness and carry it themselves.

Definitely a one of a kind. RIP Robin. There's a spark gone out of the world tonight but one that had already lit so many other fires.

I was very sad to hear this when I turned on the news this morning. :( He was so very talented...not only as a comedian but as a serious actor. I remember watching Dead Poets Society for the first time and being amazed by his character. Another role he was less known for but which I loved was in the movie Jakob the Liar.

There is a really big hole in the universe today. :(

A big hole in the universe indeed.

Frelga, I love your quote,
Someone said that comedians don't bring us joy, they take our sadness and carry it themselves.
Well said. It hits it on the nail.

I read an article earlier today about comedians and that most, if not all, take their pain, their depression, their anxiety and turn it on it's head to amuse us, presumably because otherwise it would be too hard to bear. It's a gift, but at what a cost.

He will be greatly missed, and greatly remembered. Nano nano.

You always made me smile, Robin. And your love was genuine. I will always remember you.

We never saw the down side of his bipolar disorder, and it overcame him. I know, it runs in my family. I love you, Robin Williams!

What a shock.

The day it happened, the network burst in on Jeopardy with the report. He was brilliant; I remember that Actors' Studio show. He could go totally berserk, and then he could play a role so straight you forgot who he really was. That's acting!

He will be sorely missed.

Frelga, I did not know this one. It's so... true!

Robin you will be truly missed. You made the world a little bit better. It was not only humor and joy you brought to us. It was also these numerous times you opened our eyes! Thank you so much! Rest in peace.

Sorry this is a long time after the fact. I was amazed from the time I was a child at the variety of roles Robin Williams could play. He could be crazy funny in one role, and so deeply sad and serious in another role, I had to think a little to make sure it was the same person. I'm sad that his talent is gone, and I hope that his family and friends are finding comfort.
