Come here and discuss your favorite Non-Tolkien movies, TV shows, radio plays, etc.

I know it's not a movie, but it's Non-Tolkien, so...anybody here seen any of the episodes. I just bought the DVD Set 3, and it's great. It has the Ministry of Silly Walks, Spanish Inquisition, Dinsdale Hedgehog, Ethel the Frog, and all kinds of other sketches. Thoughts and recommendations anyone?

Pallando

Ministry of silly walks is definitely one of the funniest sketches I've ever seen. Cleese is superb.

First, an appeal for sanity from the Reverend Arthur Belling:

There are many people in the country today who, through no fault of their own, are sane. Some of them were born sane, some of them became sane later in their lives. It is up to people like you and me, who are out of our tiny little minds, to try and help these people overcome their sanity. You can start in small ways with ping-pong ball eyes and a funny voice; and then you can paint half of your body red and the other half green; and then you can jump up and down in a bowl of treacle going 'squawk, squawk, squawk...'; and then you can go 'Neurhhh! Neurhh!'; and then you can roll around on the floor going 'pting pting pting'...

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Have you watched the Penguin on the Television sketch yet? One of my personal favourites:

Pepperpot 1: Penguins don't come from next door, they come from the Antarctic!
Pepperpot 2: BURMA!!!
Pepperpot 1: What'd you say that for?
Pepperpot 2: I panicked.

Unfortunately, I'm not lucky enough to own the Flying Circus on DVD
<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>... yet! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>)

If you're looking for still more Python (or Python-inspired silliness), try http://www.stone-dead.asn.au/!

I have a book set of all of the scripts from the series. Everything's there: Spanish Inquisition, Pet Shop sketch, the Lumberjack sketch, everything. They read as funny they watch!

I haven't bought any of the Python DVD collections yet. I eventually will buy them all at once. I have The Life of Brian Criterion Collection and And Now for Something Completely Different on DVD.
Python is great, I am so pleased to see so many Python references on this site. It is definitely a sign of extreme intelligence and sense of humor.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief elemnt is surprise and fear. Our to main elements are surprise fear and ruthlessnes. Our three main elements are surprise, fear, ruthlessness and an almost insane devotion to the pope. Our four main, no wait, I'll come again.

I LOVE MONTY PYTHON!!! That ist the funniest ever. The movies are goo as well.
By the way has anyone here seen Blackadder?

I agree with FoolofaTook, that being a fan of MPFC is a sign of extreme intelligence! (Pat myself on the back)

One of my fondest memories is of the sketch of the housing estate built by hypnosis, by fictional characters, and the Marcel Proust game-show.

I've seen Black Adder! Love it. Sort of like Monty Python but ruder, for those of you who haven't. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Starring Rowan Atkinson.

Looking forward to bullying orf for the final chucka?

Of course I've seen Blackadder!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> No self-respecting Python fan should be allowed to miss it! I like the Georgian ones best (because of Hugh Laurie's prince George - "oh, Hurrah!"), but WWII and Elizabethan come close!

Melchett (Stephen Fry): Grey, I suspect, Majesty.

Queenie (Miranda Richardson): I think you'll find it was orange, Lord Melchett.

Melchett: Grey is more usual mam.

Queenie: Who's queen ?

Melchett: (resuming) As you say Majesty, there were these magnificent orange elephants which were coming....

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

And I urge those who have only seen "THe Holy Grail" to rent the tapes or DVD of the TV show and discover the rest of the crazy world of Monty Python.
