Food for LOTR Marathon: Ideas please

Postby BagginsGirl » Mon Sep 16, 2013 1:21 pm

I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this thread, but I've got a question I was hoping you all might be able to help me with.
I thought the best why to celebrate Hobbit Day would be a LOTR marathon. But I'm not sure what food to serve? We're watching the EE of all off them so I'm going to need to enough food for 12+ hours, for 7 people. Any ideas? Cause so far I've got lembas bread, apples, and mulled cider.........that's it. Oh and possibly scotch eggs. We're trying to keep it 'authentic' but easy& quick to make. Any ideas or thought would be very helpful and appreciated!! Thanks so much!! :)

Fun! I did something like this for a book-themed party not too long ago. Try broadening your scopes to "medieval food" and you won't go too far wrong, probably.

Hey Bee-Girl. This sure sounds very enticing. :D

Why don't you start this thread in a more active forum. You'll get a much wider response.
I think the Books section will be right for this.

Meanwhile, I'll go and think of something!

First, I don't think I helped in anyway. :P

Second, the you aren't gonna get banned from TORC for started a wrong thread in the wrong place. (BTW, starting it here isn't wrong. It's just that you won't get many suggestions otherwise)

Third (and repeated), you can start this in the Books me thinks. Ore even Bird and the Baby. There's still some time.

Or ask on the Foodies thread. They'd love it.

Not a dumb question.

It's in the Talk, perhaps deep down in it?

Thanks for that link!! Even though its past the 22nd I figured I ask anyway, just to see what they had in mind, and cause like you said it seemed like they'd enjoy that question.

You could get inspiration from Tom bombadil's house (fresh white bread and butter and honey), or The prancing pony. If you're feeling adventurous you could try a recipe for Sam's stewed rabbit! Plenty of ideas within the books themselves.
