You're not the only one who's been wondering that. Scirocco and Impenitent have been trying to contact him; he had some computer problems at the time he last posted so, let's hope it's just therefore he hasn't been around.

Well a note to Scirocco and Impenitent (or anyone else who finds Rome): please post here that he hsa been contacted.
Rome is one of the few posters that I have really looked up to since my existence here on TORC and it has me worried that he hasn't been around.

I have the summary for Decamber correct?

Is it just the one chapter? I just wanted to double-check.

My time on TORC is limited these days but I promise to have a summary up on time. :)

Quite correct - you have the December summary, and it's just the one chapter (Inside Information).

Hm... November has been really quiet... I will try to write something tonight, if I'm not too tired, but this time the discussion is bound to be left incomplete, I guess...

Oh well. We can always write in the November thread after the discussion is officialy over. I know I'm caught up in RL until January so I won't have much time on TORC at all. I'll only be able to make for a few minutes a day here so I have my priorities in place. This is one of them.

Well, the discussions remain open, even after the next installation is up so, we can add to them any time we get ideas.

I've also been quite swamped with RL for the last couple of months so, I haven't been able to participate as much as I would have liked. :( And, I've talked with Mahima on YIM a couple of times; she's been travelling for a couple of weeks and has therefore hardly been in TORC at all.

But, hopefully the December discussion will be more lively.

I hope December will be more lively too. But it seems that people are really occupied in RK these days. I'm hoping that after January everything wil return to normal...

I've started a new project in The Books forum. Its a project created to attract people from other forums to The Books forum to post. i hamper people all the time about posting in The Books, but they are afraid that everyone and everything is too intellectual, so I made this project so that you can post and talk no mater who you are.

I'd appreciate your support (even if its only a few lines). :)

The link is HERE .

Enjoy. :)

hello...

Postby Melyanna » Sun Nov 28, 2004 11:51 am

Ayia! A little late, mostly all i do is lurk, but hopefully now that I have a reliable computer ( :o ) I can participate more. I've been a fan of Tolkien since I was three and have loved it for so long as a story that I've never given the oppertunity to go back and read it as an acual literary work, the thought is a challange I'm quite looking forward to.

I'm really busy in the RL at the moment so I won't be contributing soon (weekend, perhaps). I updated the first page, contracting the sections where necessary. Arvegil, are you aware that you have two chapters for January, as we agreed?

I can do Feb. if you want. It seems that the rest of you are getting pretty tied up in RL. I'm tied up too, but only til January. After that I'm free.

I think she actually meant "sign in".

All the thread leaders were to be given the password to the VTSG account, but some didn't get it before we lost the user profiles, and with them the possibility to see other users' e-mail addresses, in the big makeover last spring. I'll edit the timetable, and will mail the password to you (just check your junk mail folder too, it may end up there).

Mahima, what translation of Beowulf did you copy that text from? It must be an updated modern version for the wording is not nearly as complex as the versions I have...

Its not 'incorrect', its different. Like I said the wording was not so poetical. Can you post the verse number so that I can compare it with my translations.
Tolkien's translation of Beowulf is also very good btw. :)

I haven't re-read this month's chapter yet :( and I do not want to start reading it now because it's session time and I've got other things to do as well (like the translation questions I'm asking in the Languages), but since I had a free hour I decided to dedicate it for the things that I had found interesting in the last two chapters, and this I did... Sorry for not participating in the December thread.
