Children of Hurin

Is there any interest in VTSG tackling the new "Children of Hurin" upon release?

oh, I bought it 2 days ago... :happydance:
Translated in Croatian already...very cool indeed :D
I'm reading it now...
And even though I know the story...I mean everybody knows the story, Turin is pretty much everywhere...I was still soooo excited when I saw it on that shelf
But I haven't came across anything new and unfamiliar in it. (hopefully- not yet, I still have a lot to read :) )

....and then what does this Very Tall Super Group do after we tackle it?

I'm going tomorrow to my local bookstore to "tackle" my copy, though I never had to chase books through the aisles before.

I am new to the forum, but would like to be involved in a discussion of "Children of Hurin". I purchased the book last week and did a read through in a couple days. It actually inspired me to re-read the "Lord of the Rings" as well, which I attempted many years ago but never got through it for various reasons. So count me in.

Maybe if we start at the beginning of August - I should have read my copy by then.

If I'm around at the beginning of August, or whenever the discussion starts, I'll certainly try to participate.

Loved it

Postby Green Dragon » Wed Oct 10, 2007 5:51 am

I loved it until it reached the end and then I hated the ending. I hated the fact that they killed themselves at the end all except Hurin and Morwen, they died naturally.

Hurin doesn't die at the end. As indicated in the other works, he lives- to accidentally cause more trouble.

Depends on what you mean by "really happened". I think that, the "Black Breath" that she died of, was some kind of a pandemic; just remember such historically important pandemics like the Black Plague or the Spanish Flu. And, ancient people often believed that, such pandemics were originated by a higher power (in this case, Morgoth).

Or it could be because she felt the presence of evil come over her and it smuthered her
