Dear gentle breeze, clear moonlit skies,
listen as the flowers cry.

Dark shadows creep and subtly dance
'neath timbered stout, or, rotting branch.
The fox and rabbit hide about,
questioning, full of lingering doubt.
Under glistening starlight, uncertain dreams,
listen for the sobbing streams.

The teary meadow, whispering dew,
has veiled its heart, uncertain view.
When twinkling darknight, tearful trembles,
look skyward, see the stellar candles.

The woeful heart, within the trees,
releases sobs upon this breeze.

We yearn, with dreams, starlit high,
and fill the air with doleful sigh.
The breeze is drifting through the rain,
as we in silence, release our pain.

Treasure buried under mountain stair,
is wrapped in shadows, with mossy hair.
Now lost under starlit night,
our dreams are merely hidden sight.

Oh gentle breeze, dear moonlit heart,
make ready, as we uncertain start...

Lothlorien, of Middle-Earth

In Middle-Earth, lies the Golden Wood,
Which passed away in days long past,
In it dwelt an old Folk of good,
Who left for the Havens, at long last.

Now do the Mallorns sigh in vain
For the merry Elves are gone,
Never to be seen in Middle-Earth again,
For the Third Age is long ago done.

They are gone beyond the Sundering Seas,
For there’s no more pain or weariness,
To dream and sing their songs, and of these
Man remembers less and less.

*This poem is based on J.R.R. As we build with the foundational blocks of Language, we search for the devices that transcend the limitations of mere words. As dawn enlightens the forest dark, so does the illumination of butterfly wings, lighten our hearts.

As scribes born after the reigning Elemental lords, we strive to etch what meaning we may encounter on our forest flight. Upon copper and golden plates these etchings survive as children, with which we all grow. Our words are heirs, carrying the meaning of our lives, the motion of our names, within a cascading heritage.

Our words, archaic Faithful, on a pilgrimage of expressive leagacy... each sentence a quest, every verse a marvel of connectivity. As we reflect within this Garden, the Universe is mirrored in the silvered ponds, as each of our faces peers to gaze into tranquil waters. Take rest beside the Butterfly Garden's pools, discover the mystery of seeing in others, what they have seen of themselves.

Let creation unfold as we write,.. our words are the mists of legends....

Tosa'e okohke hese oné'seóme, ná ho'sóó'êstse ka'ês<caron>kone, mé'ês<caron>evôtse naona'ó'tse. Náháomóhtahe! Nákâhaneotse! But náne'étamenôtse Ma'heo'o !!!

My steps down the path quiet with a fresh blanket of snow crunches in its silence. The ceders stand with their shoulders hunched from their robes of white, and the thin branches of the apple tree that gave its fruit to me last autumn stands as a skeleton against the grey sky, each branch held in a thin wrap of white. The sparrow brushes off some as it picks at the broken remains of an apple, finding seeds within before the old apple finally relaxes its grip on the branch and falls to the ground. I stand and watch where my children played, and my eyes burdened with age shed tears of rememberance. The garden is sleeping, though all is as though it is dead, beaneth the surface the life flows. Thee roots of the trees kiss the earth and the earth feed them for their coming duty. The bulbs of the daffodil and tulip plump with vigor as they cuddle against the frost.

A voice of a young child speaks from behind me and I turn to see. a girl in colorful dress stands bright in the world of grey and white, and she lifts up a cup to me...

"drink it please."

The soft voice says with a smile, and I take the cup but do not drink. Instead I gaze at the child and she nods to me.

"its ok to drink mama, for I love you!"

behind her now stood three young men, and I know that my children love me. For they sent Flaming Spirit to meet me, and I then drank as I peered into her eyes. Soft they were, not dark as the boys. With her hair in the breeze, it started to fill with snowflakes as she reached for the empty cup. As my hand touched hers, she smiled and turned to dance in the snow as her brothers bombed her with snowballs. I closed my eyes to squeeze the tears out, and the whisper on the wind spoke of them each one, and my father standing with his father, waved to me from the grey sky ever obscured with snow. Their voices now sang in harmony, and I said goodbye.
Dearest Broken Arrow,
Tears flow as I read your sweet post. Your pain touches me so deeply. The beauty of your heart is stunning. I hold you dear in my heart, Sister-spirit. You fill me with quiet wonder and awe. I cannot fathom your loss. Healing hugs to you dear friend.

Hugs to tuile, Terry D, cynara, Harvestar. Let Spring-time warm the cold ache of sorrow in our hearts. We will once more walk among the blossoming flowers and lie in the refreshing grasses. Squeeze each other's hands now and know that you are loved.

I wanted to share here a moment from my camping trip to Havasu Canyon (one of the side canyons to the Grand Canyon).

We stood together at the edge of the pool, our hands intertwined, gazing at the beauty of the cascades of water flowing over the mossy rocks and the spray of the waterfall gently caressing our faces. As our eyes traced the path of the water, there on the bank, from under a limb, rose two yellow and black butterflies. They fluttered about each other, weaving a dance to the symphony of the falls. Flying higher, they continued circling each other with wings touching. Watching their dance, I felt a glimpse of the future of us together, still dancing, still sharing the beauty of creation, flying higher toward the light of the sun.

Gazing into your eyes of the twilight sky, it was at once most natural and so amazing to be there with you, my dearest love and most wonderful friend.

((HUGEHUGS)) to Broken_Arrow, Arwen, Terry D, tuile, and Cy.

*tuile walks along the soft, grassy hills, sliding her hand across the tree's bark and the bush's branches as she moves. The Butterfly Garden seems empty but for gentle whispers and flittering rememberances. A silencing fog drifts into the Garden, obscuring tuile's view of the flowers. The fireflies' glow in the haze like beacons from distant shores.*

Missing you all and selfishly missing your writings...<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
(((((BUTTERFLYHUGS)))))))<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

The iron gate creeks as she enters the garden. A noise in the near distance draws her attention, the outline of a woman is visble through the mist. She seems to be reaching up and brushing the trees branches as she goes upon her way.

Smiling , Sandra turns back and heads towards the low dark stoned wall surrounding the lilly pond. There she sits and muses at a white fluffy looking chrysalis stuck fast on a leafy stem...

Spread your wings and prepare to fly
For you have become a butterfly
Fly abandonedly into the sun
If you should return to me
It is truly meant to be
So spread your wings and fly
Butterfly

I have learned that beauty
Has to flourish in the light
Wild horses run unbridled
Or their spirit dies
You have been given the courage
To be all that you can
And truly feel your heart will
Lead you back to here when you're
Ready to land

The sun is peeping through the mist, it tries so hard to brighten the day. It's so peaceful here. Think I'll stay a while longer and enjoy the gardens tranquility.....and thoughts of my love...

Eyes
Like a sunrise
Like a rainfall
Down my soul
And I wonder
I wonder why you look at me like that
What you're thinking
What's behind
Don't tell me
But it feels like love

I'm gonna take this moment
And make it last forever
I'm gonna give my heart away
And pray we'll stay together
Cause you're the one good reason
You're the only boy that I need
Cause you're more handsome than I have ever seen
I'm gonna take this night
And make it Evergreen

Touch
Like a angel
Like velvet to my skin
And I wonder
Wonder why you wanna stay the night
What you're dreaming
What's behind
Don't tell me
But it feels like love

I'm gonna take this moment
And make it last forever
I'm gonna give my heart away
And pray we'll stay together
Cause you're the one good reason
You're the only boy that I need
Cause you're more handsome than I have ever seen
I'm gonna take this night
And make it Evergreen

Arwen awakens and smiles as she hears melodic voices skip and play like a trickling brook through the garden. Some voices dance along, sparkling and laughing on the surface, catching the sunlight with their voices. Some voices meander in the cool depths, swirling slowly, gracefully in deep thought. All bring refreshment and reflection to the Earth, songs of joy, songs of wisdom, songs of pain, songs of merriment. All in beauty, all in peace.

In the night of my dreams I heard the fluttering of wings. I watched a moth lay her eggs upon moonlit leaves. She danced through silvery shadows, a dance of life, a dance of death. Soon she would fade among the fallen leaves.
One by one her thread-like children emerged to feast upon succulent plants. Soon fattened on sun-drenched leaves, they dropped one by one to the ground to dig their hidden chambers. Deep within the palm of the earth, cupped in silent catacombs, each caterpillar wove a womb of silk. Like tear drops of the earth they lay, glistening crysalises in the dark, each dreaming of rising into the moon's embrace on fragile wings of colorful dust.
Now unfolding in mysterious transformation within their protective shells, now liquid, now solid, the self is a confusion of change. The soft owl-eyed creatures churn in confinement as they begin to press open their tombs with slender legs. Their tiny wrinkled wings emerge wet and pliant as the furry moths dig their way to the surface. Soon the wings grow and straighten under the cover of night as the moths pump fluid into them. Then they will rise to weave their shimmery night song into the fabric of darkness.

One chrysallis lies still within the earth. Its dreams have been invaded by spores, fungi that feed upon dreams of flight. The night stems of hunger descend to invade the fragile walls of the cocoon, to halt the growth of the moth, to steal its wings. Soon the fleshy stem will emerge from the moist soil, a smooth phallus of death rising into the dead leaves, its cap engorged with the dreams of flight.

Early the next morning a child walks through the forest, her dark eyes anxiously searching the ground. She crouches down to inspect the soil, carefully brushing away dead leaves in the cool shadows. She surprises a sleeping moth and as it flutters drowsily away beneath the trees, the girl smiles. She knows it is near. Soon her keen eyes spot the slender white fungus and her fingers tenderly pluck it from the earth. Moments later she arrives breathless at her father's home. Rushing in she deposits the small mushroom into her mother's hands. The delicate fungus would be added to the others that she has collected and together these would be made into a medicine for her father. Soon his illness will abate as wings of healing unfold within his heart. For this fungus of death carries a dream, a gentle dream of moonlit flights. And this caterpillar was chosen for a different kind of dance.

Here is where it began, my home in the garden. Thank you dear Orald for creating this magical place of wonder. Thank you dear Snowdog for dancing with me in the grassy meadows. Thank you dear poets of TORC for inspiring me with your beautiful posts. This place is ever in my heart wherever I go, my retreat from the world, my connection to the mountains and rivers, my residence of fantasy and creativity.

Thank you for noting my 2,000th post, dear brother Snow. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Ah, the shadows beneath the pines are a cool refuge. It is a great joy to see you hear, dearest Raven. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Hugs and happy Mother's day to our garden's fairest feathered friend. Come join me by the stream and we'll sit upon a warm granite boulder and dangle our feet in the cool water.

There is a spirit in the icy stream. He lies awake beneath the clear waters. Water nymphs dance through his arms, laughing as they slide along his body. Their giggles rise in bubbles to the surface as they roll and twirl above him. I see his reflection in the rising mist that dances upon the surface.
A fawn tentatively lowers her muzzle to the surface, tasting the cool waters. Her dark eyes fill with wonder as she drinks in the nourishing liquid. The voice of the spirit fills her with song and she walks into the forest, singing softly to the trees. I follow the fawn, treading quietly behind her as she follows her own song.
The fawn wanders into a mist, her voice opening a path to follow. I am enveloped in swirling white unable to see ahead or to the side of me, still following the clear voice through the forest as we walk up into the mountains. Occasionally I glimpse the small hoofs and ears ahead of me. Soon I lose sight of the creature and am only aware of the song floating through the mist, leading me on.
I grow weary of the climb and my muscles ache as I finally reach a grassy plateau. I see a circular clearing in the mist as the sunlight bathes the green grasses and golden flowers. I hear the chiming of tiny bells all around me as I enter the clearing. The singing abruptly stops as the fawn nuzzles the warm grasses. There is a deep peace here on this hidden knoll, nestled within the arms of white mist.
I notice a curious depression ahead of me and step cautiously forward. Peering down I am suddenly overcome with emotion and fall to my knees, clasping my hands together. The lady has been revealed to me, lying in her eternal bed. Her face is clear and soft, suffused with light. The delicate robes lie smooth and unwrinkled upon her lovely form. Her hands appear strong and supple as if she has just laid down for a moment to rest.
Tears flow down my face as I look up into the blue sky, my arms outstretched. I am rooted to this spot and cannot move as I begin to sing softly into the air. I am moved to sing and it is as if a song rises through me causing me to sing. I am alive with quiet joy and peace and I only want to stay here, to sleep for awhile in the fragrant grasses.
