OK. My character's profile follows as requested: <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Name:Laurelia

Race:Elf - unknown if Sindarin or Noldorin

Occupation:Weaver - Owns a store

Appearamce:Laurelia can claim a pure elven descent, although of which line of her eldar kindred noone can with certainty identify. She stands 5 foot 11 inches, and has a silvan, slim build. Unmistakeably womanly, Laurelia possesses the etheral otherworldliness of her immortal brethern which is a potent mix when added to her physical sensual beauty. Wide green eyes fringed with long blonde lashes are her predominant facial features. Long golden hair, the hallmark of Ingwe's, or Finarfin's or Thranduril's folk falls straight to her hips, gently curling towards the ends. Skin is creamy, translucent and as silken as the fine fabric she can produce from her loom. High cheekbones, full red lips that often form a smile, her face is more often serene and smooth than anything else. Many a person curious about their elven weaver have been frustrated in their attempts to read her gaze.

Long limbed and lissom, Laurelia displays her weaving through her garments. She is customarily is clad jewel tones of emerald, indigo, ruby or obsidan, exquisitely crafted gowns for each season that only serve to emphasise how different she is from the townsfolk. Laurelia to the city 25 years ago, and rumours soon settled in with her. She was certainly known to the Wizardess, though the nature of that relationship was less certain. She has no kin remaining within mortal lands, although why she lingers still is uncertain. Certainly Laurelia's conduct betray high court training, and so why she is in such an ordinary village is also subject to much conjecture. Some rumour that it is due to her perilous beauty and the nature of suitors that she is buried from all outside knowledge in the village. The suggested liaisons with Tristynn Valyger and the Wizardess' brother Derdrick the Black lend some credence to this theory.

Living alone in her small shop, Laurelia keeps mainly to herself. She is quiet, mysterious and altogether fey. The talk is that she sees deeper than most, and certainly the material she weaves seems to inherently suit the wearer's nature. Laurelia seems caught in the changed, patently mortal aspect of Middle-earth's times. Yet despite the difficulties this presents one of immortal descent, she lingers still. Her history is closely guarded, but word circulates that she is hiding from more than leaving Middle-earth behind to the men.

Temprament: Laurelia is an elegant and graceful individual, skilled at her craft and showing great artistry in her work. She is closely guarded, and rarely shows any temper beyond cool disdain or contempt. So too is her laughter rare. Normally, she is serene, disciplined, and keenly intelligent. She has a particular fondness for music and as her race would suggest, Laurelia has an affinity with the natural world.

<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

OK, I regret to inform you all that I will be absent due to work and study committments until Thursday afternoon. Please do not tag me as a murder victim. I have not abandoned you, and if there was any way I could avoid this cram course to be here I certainly would have found it by now. Unfortunately, there is nothing else for it but to go and be a good little student.

But I will be back. Till then, caio...

ok. Ive been giving this thread some thought and have developed my characters<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>. If possible I would like to portray the chambermaid Eudora Singers and the town nurse Beatrice(i dont beleive either of these are taken, correct me if I am wrong) I have sent Wandering an email and will post the bare bones of their traits soon. By the way Wandering i think my first message cut off the second half of my email so please read both of the emails I sent you though they have the same title.

Wandering_Wood_Elf, (a.k.a. Beatrice), in developing your character could you just take note that my character Primrose (who's bare-bones profile is on page 3 of this thread) lives with Beatrice as her protege.

I look forward to posting with you! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Thanks for bringing that to my attention as it slipped my mind. Sounds great<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> fits well with her personality and stuff. I've never played an older person before(besides an elf) so i hope I pull it off well. Also looking forward to playing Eudora who turned out to be a v. interesting character indeed <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Ok, I tried to make the character pages with the information given to me here. However, I could not copy and paste it in as I had hoped. Thus, I will have to slowly retype each profile and it will take me longer than I had planed to put pages on the website. Do not fear, it just means I need to wait until during the week when I will have more time (hopefully). Were there anything else you want me to put on the webpage? I will make a clue sheet and such as things progress.

I emailed a few of you with information. I just thought I'd say that as usual.

Okay, here's a very bare-bones bio on Farmer Jerabec and his wife Maria, both of whom I will also be playing. Stupid me, I didn't save the e-mail I sent to Wandering with all the info, but I'll rewrite it as best I can.

********************
Farmer Jerabec is the head of the Wizardess's conglomerate farms, and was hit very hard by the plague on the cattle and the Wizardess's taxes. He's a decent man; fairly outgoing. His wife Maria is kind and quieter than her husband, but still very outgoing as well. They have both lived in Chiorsdale for their entire lives.
********************

Hmm...that's really all there is to say. Wandering, if there's anything else I mentioned in my e-mail to you that you think I ought to post, e-mail or something and let me know, but I think that's really it.

Yes, I'm also wondering when we're going to start. I suppose we still need more people to join.

By the way, I start school tomorrow so my time will be more limited. I'd also like it if this RP didn't go on for too long, so that I'm not struggling to divide my homework time and my TORC time, especially once the work load starts picking up.

Thanks!
I would like to bring your attention to the newer updated Pony Guidelines (listed in my sig line) which now states that long titled threads are going to be asked to edit their titles to be shorter. Could the thread originator please edit this title down to OOC:The Plan of Wandering:A mystery RP. TIA

Wandering,
Have been absent from TORC a few days, and just wondering if the plan for this 'mystery RP' is still in action? Still eager to collaborate with everyone and see what we can create. Any idea of when we'll be starting? I've been a little more restricted lately with my TORC time, so it'd be good to know when we'll begin so I can plan my time.

Thanks! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Tanith.

Ok, I am back from the weekend exploits. Anyway, I have also only now begun to regroup after the terrible dissapearance of the Pony. Anyhow, I am pleased to see that everything seems in one (or perhaps now two) piece(s).

Ok, I would like to get more people to join, however, this thread has been sitting for quite some time without a new person and thus, I see no way that we can feasably hope for more people. Thus, I am going to now spend my time to decide the murderer and a few plot elements. The rest I will leave for you to develop on your own as the story progresses. The murderer will be able to choose who he or she kills, though I may make one or two suggestions. However, i think that by allowing them to decide the victims, it allows them to control the plot and the clues etc. to their own character, making it feel more authentic than if I had pre-set anything.

I will need a day or two to read through and make a final decision on the killer, though I have already trimmed my list down to two or three candidates. A note as well, people playing multiple characters still have a chance that one of their people could be the murderer.

As for the NPCs, I will play most of the remaining ones though I will allow you to do their dialogue etc. in your posts. Any important NPC events I'll work with you on.

I am hoping then to get this started in 3 days if I can push myself fast enough. I also must confess that due to the site being down, I could not do the character profiles as I had hoped. I will have to trickle them into the page as we play. For some reason Yahoo would not let me copy and paste. With the site down (since I was going to copy them directly to the site word for word), I could not work in the profiles.

Another note, though I have not checked the new forum, I think that this is more a Tolkien inspired fantasy since the city is fictional but in middle earth. Does that mean it should move?

Also, I will change the title.

I'm in the same situation as Tobias. I'll probably be able to get on once in a while during the week, but my computer stinks and I don't always have the time to sit and be patient when it decides to throw me error pages. Most of my posting will be on the weekends.

I was also thinking about the issue of whether this RP should be moved to the Green Dragon. I think it might be a good idea to move it, since it really doesn't have any connection to Middle Earth, except for some characters' histories. Perhaps this is something to ask the Mods about?

Sure, I will email Running Deer.

Its fine if you can only post on weekends. As college gets closer I have been posting much less myself. Thus, once Sept. 21 hits, I have no idea of how I will be posting. Anyway, I do still plan to post, but not having been in college yet, I have no idea of how the workload will be.

Anyway, can everyone also maybe just put here how often they will be posting, since I think that it is good to have it here as a reference if someone is absent.

Sorry, but I was under the impression that this was a ME RP--that it is set somewhere north of Mirkwood? (can't recall correctly).

If that is not so, please correct me Wandering--and does mean the goalposts have shifted somewhat.

I think I've already stated it but in case I haven't--I'll be posting infrequently, maybe 1 or 2 times a week at the most.
At last here are my character profiles..sorry i didnt get them up sooner but ive been both busy and lazy. Here they are though

Beatrice: Elderly widowed woman and the town nurse
Appearance: 5’4 She has long white hair that she wears in a braid that ends at her shoulder blades. She usually wears plain dresses , more like sacks, with a thin leather strap tied around the middle, plain black robes, and many pieces of jewelry given to her by her dead husband. Her face is lined with care, both frown lines, and laugh ones. She has clear blue eyes however that age has not touched in the slightest. She walks with a bit of a limp and uses a cane to get around.
Personality: A kindly old woman she is skilled in her craft of healing. More to be revelaed as I post
History: She has lived in Choirsdale her entire life. Her mother lived in the same home and practiced the same art as her mother before her as all of her side of the family for as long as any can remember. She is open when asked about her husband Waryn who was a peddler who visited her town often. After a while he settled down with her and sold his wares from a small shop he erected just adjacent to their home (which still stands there). Business was a bit rough as he was not able to pick up his wares when he traveled, so eventually he became a healer like Beatrice who taught him the craft. Together they had 2 sons and all was well for a time. Then many males of the village were becoming ill by an unknown disease including Waryn and her sons. The local wizards were unable to cure the illness (many of them had contracted the disease as well) and were only able to delay it. Her responsibility as a nurse sent her to neighboring towns and cities to discover the cure. She found it, but it was to late for her family and many others.

Eudora singers: young, around 15, was the grand Wizardess’s Chambermaid
Appearance: 5’6 dark brown hair tied loosely with an old scarf at the nape of her neck. She wears simple clothes, normally a simple blouse and skirt usually worn and a bit sooty. Her eyes are a soft brown and she has an innocent look about her in her simplicity.
Personality: Shy and quiet, she is reluctant to speak of her dead mistress the Grand Wizardess. When she does open up she is polite and warm, but can often lapse into deep silences
History: unknown to the villagers
Well, I have talked to some people but I have also had trouble getting a hold of a few people. I dont want to say specific names etc. but I need to wait till I hear from them (some have even posted on here surprisingly. Maybe they did not check their email?? I dont know) but then I can start it once I hear from them.

I think that this RP will be much easier from the sounds of it than I had anticipated. Since we all tend to post infrequently, I think that what we can expect is that the thread will have more time between events, which will be good.

Anyway, I am waiting to hear from some people. Once I do, we can begin. Also, it is south east of Mirkwood I believe (need to check later but I am at a friends house)but I think its better in this forum anyway because it is not so much based anywhere else except the town setting.

Erm.... Wandering? Things seem to be at a bit of a standstill around here... is this Mystery RP still on its way? Because I'm holding off joining in a few other RPs in an effort to reserve time for this one. You've put so much effort and forethought into it, don't let it slide now!
I'll be keeping an eye out <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> And don't worry about Shantau, there's enough people to carry it comfortably <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Tanith.

Hmmm... yeah, I'm with you on that one Shadowfax. Has anyone seen Wandering around lately? His idea was an original one, and he put in a lot of work into executing it perfectly. So much organisation, and then suddenly nothing? Strange...
Would've been good to see if this plan worked out after all. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif"border=0>

Tanith.

Well, I certainly plan on sticking around, but I would like to get involved in other RPs eventually if this doesn't get off the ground. I've been holding back because I wanted to save my time and creative reserves for this, but I don't want to have to wait forever...
