Woops, sorry Novice, I didn't know you and Naoire had emailed Wandering about your characters. I'm gonna go do that as soon as I post this message. I woulda done it this morning, but my brother was hogging the computer.

Wandering, I tried registering on Yahoo to join the club you made, but it won't send me a confirmation e-mail with my code. I'll have to try it again later.

Wandering- I'm still pretty new around here, and just read up on the RP rules and would be very interested in joining this one. Just wanted to let you know. I'll see if I can come up with any helpful ideas.

if you wanted to have the murderer be a real player, you could email people certain character traits they should have, bits of evidence or clothing, rings, etc. they should wear for hints, but give enough traits to everyone so that no one really knows who the murderer is, but there is still a semblance of a linear plot.

You might have to place entry restrictions then, or a deadline for committing.

Sounds very interesting Wandering. The typical quest/adventure rp has been done over many times. This will be a pleasant change. I guess I should email you my thoughts and information about a character but i think Ill think about it for a while before i define my character. Im ot sure If i want to be one on the list or to make up my own. Hopefully others will join so we can have more suspects like you said earlier. Ive been a little busy recently, but i have the time to commit to this thread though not as much as I did a while ago. I'll try to join your yahoo group later.

Wandering, I've emailed you the rest of Tristynn's bio, and left it for you to fill in the blanks basically. By the end of the week, if we are still a little short on people, I'd be happy to take on another character role, either one of the townsfolk or my female character Tanith who I can adapt appropriately.
We'll see what happens.
Great to see more people joining! Hope more will follow...

Tanith.

I am sorry I was not on much today. I just got my new computer and had a going away party for a friend so I was a tad busy. Its 5 am, lol, and I only now could get online. I can't do much work today(or yesterday I guess) but I will check my emails and respond to them before i go to bed this morning, lol. I have some work tommorrow still with the new comp. Hopefully I will be online with that tommorrow night. Anyway, I'll do more work then.

As always, new people and newbies are welcome. If there are any trouble with posting for newbies, I am glad to help. I want to ensure the quality of this board and this thread so I do not mind "tutoring" anyone if they desire or need my help.

I like the idea about clues and such. When it gets closer to the launch time I will probably work on things like that too.

One thing real quick I noticed. I'll have to work out this all tommorrow because I just noticed it but there are a lot of people wanting to be in the Inn and a few wanting to be stablehands (of all things). Since this is a small town, I may have to work with a few people, choosing one or two here and there to change some aspects.

Another note, when making a character, try and think of a motive and possible reason that would make you suspicious to others. A lot of people are developing great personalities but with little motive or suspicion for why they would kill the Wizardess. Because there are so few people here, everyone except one or two I have talked to specifically, needs to be a suspect with a possible motive. Keep that in mind.

Also, we have a few young people. I am fine with 1 or 2 and we have that. So, from here on, try and have everyone maybe 19 minimum age unless you talked to me already or really want a young person. The reason being young people are harder to get a motive for. But, if you have ideas, I am open.

So, things to consider- motive, suspicion, personality, past, and such.

A thread that I wrote that you could refer to if you are having trouble would be the "How to make a good character thread." Just search for my name in the Pony forum if you want to find it. I put lots of tips conserning background. Since this is not as much travel etc, the entire story will be based on the depth of the characters. Thus, make them as detailed as you can. The more complex the history the better. The more suspicious, the more interesting.

Try and at least have some reason to hate the Wizardess or gain a good benefit from death (besides the taxes etc.) Tommorrow I hope to extend the profiles and post the "interesting non taken character list."

Wandering, could I suggest you include all the relevant links (to the map and the yahoo group site) in your very first post?

That way newly interested people can access that information at the same time that they read your first outline for the thread.

It might be good to have the bare-bones profiles of the the players in that post as well--that way we all have a quick reference for who's who and who's in.
One important notice. If you are going to send me an attachment please inform me in the body of the text. There is one person who attached a file which I did not open because I am afraid of what it could contain esp. because I have heard that the Klez virus is circuling among emails on this mb due to some infections among the users. I will NOT send any attachments to anyone whatsoever without mentioning before hand that I am. Thus, if you have an attachment from me do not open it and please inform me that an attachment was on one of my emails so that I know to run a virus scan. As of now, I seem to be clean though. If you can run a virus scan just to be safe.

Anyway, Aloen, you are welcome to join. You can either make a new character or adopt one of the NPC's and simply work to make a better history and personality etc for them and make them your own. Either one is fine though the second is preferred.

I plan to update my first post soon. I first want to handle some emails and then I will be glad to. I will simply add on the bottom for the time being the links to the group and the webpage. I will also soon make a part of the web page with character profiles for player characters (with no secrets revealed, of course).

That is on my agenda for tonight. If i get it all done or only part of it depends seriously on how easy it is to create a new AOL account and to dismiss Netzero (my new computer came with free internet from AOL.).

Also, please please put your MB name at the top of your emails because with most of the messages I cannot tell who is who and I have already been somewhat confused sometimes. Just put, this is so and so at the top. Do it for the first few emails so that I can learn to identify the addresses to the person.

Okay, just wanna let you know that the new PC we ordered arrived today. I'm not sure quite when my dad plans on installing it, but hopefully soon. Ok, I have started making a character profile page for people characters but I have to wait before I put that online. Anyway, what I am going to do is this, if you have talked to me about your character and I posted their name up there, then I think everyone I talked to seems ok to post their personality, and the most basic history they can on this ooc thread. Do not mention any rumors etc or anything really anything that is not Very obvious. Much of characters, even some basic history things, will be great for you to post later in the real thread. Then, what I am going to ask if possible make a short final outline of the following:
basic motive, important past events (in brief outlines), and important facts (relations, where they work etc). The reason is because while I saved the emails that I recieved, I forgot to save the ones I sent out. Thus, some of the things I remember and wrote down, but some I foolishly did not keep track of. Instead of guessing so and so is this, A brief small outline, just enough for my records, would be extremely helpful if you can. If you cannot, I understand too and I will do my best to arrange one and send it to you.

Also, I hope for maybe 4 or so more people if possible though if that does not happen that is fine. As well, once I have the profiles ready I will spend about 3 days to make suspicions and clues. By then I will also know who the murder is hopefully and then we can begin.

Anyway, if you can find someone to join, it would help. I've been extremely busy with the site (trying to figure out html coding, lol, to make things nicer) and also trying to make some of the basic plot ideas. I've started a notebook for my records that I hope is through enough. I would appreciate the outlines simply so that way I can double check to make sure I did not miss any things you feel are important.

As directed, here is a breif outline of my character for the benefit of all involved. Wandering, I will send you a detailed overview of Tristynn via email <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Tristynn Valyger is a full-blooded human, 21 years of age, residing mostly in Burnswick's Inn.
Appearance: 5"10, thick wild hair falling in spikes about his face, of a light chestnut brown laced with gold. Lean-muscled, tanned limbs, youthful features marked by his penetrating, sky-blue eyes. A tattooed band of elven dialect encircles his upper left arm. He bares a small scar on the left side of his torso.
Personality: A free spirit, Tristynn is known for his inconsistency and spontaneity. A confident, humorous charmer, he appeals to many (especially females) but manages to aggravate a great many more. His strong-willed stubbornness and habitual impatience often causes him to come across as arrogant, but also proves him a passionate go-getter who doesn’t often overestimate his unmatched talent in physical agility and basic combat skills. Known to spontaneously follow his heart instead of his hitherto reasonable head, Tristynn is the soul instigator of many dangerous situations. But beneath his comic façade hides an intelligence and compassion that far outgoes what he is willing to reveal. An expert at concealing his emotions, it takes a strong bond to get to know Tristynn in his entirety.
History: Born and raised by his uncle in the small town of Latilla, he came to Choirsdale as a rebellious 13 year old youth. Accepted into the community, he is likeable but often disruptive to the usually quiet townsfolk. He works as the head stablehand for Deedlehound Burnswick at his Inn, and is practiced in veterinary science. With the aid of his close friend Reverand Chris Younger, Tristynn has developed an antidote that considerably slows the effects of the current sickness in the cows. It is rumoured that he has been 'involved' with Laurelia the Weaver. He looks up to retired Paladin Greswald.

Okay, here's a basic outline of my character. I'm only writing the bare bones-the stuff the villagers know about her.

Name:Eyriel
Age:Around 19
Appearance:Around 5 foot 5, long auburn hair, large olive-green eyes, a small scar under her right eye.
History (as known to the villagers):Eyriel was orphaned as an infant, and raised by a couple in Bree. She was apprenticed as a healer, and around age 17 she left Bree and spent some time in Rivendell. After leaving Rivendell she travelled from village to village for a while, offering her healing skills to people, but never staying long in one place. Eventually she landed in Chiorsdale. Tired of traveling, she decided to stay put, but because the town already had a healer, she was forced to work in the mill.
Other important stuff:It's generally known among the townspeople that Eyriel has some elven blood in her, but she tends to keep quiet about her past and her family. She's fairly reserved, but kind, and well thought-of among the general population of Chiorsdale.
She also wears on a chain around her neck a wring wrought of mithril and gold, set with a blue sapphire, and seemingly of elven make. It doesn't seem to have any magical properties.

I'm also playing Farmer Jerabec and his wife Maria, but I haven't really thought of much of a profile for them. I'll e-mail you, Wandering, about that as soon as I get a chance-hopefully this afternoon, but I need to get off right now.

-Eyriel

Name: Greog Hammerfell

Race: Dwarf……………about middle aged.

Occupation: Smith

Appearance: Greog stands about 5’ tall and has a long flowing black beard with a few streaks of silver weaved within. Grey eyes look out from under a pair of bushy eyebrows which are now showing a little grey themselves. The hair on his head has slowly receded backwards much to his annoyance, Greog fancied himself good looking in his youth but that was long ago. Typical of Greog’s trade the Smithy has powerful arms and often wins all competitions at the local taverns in feats of strength!

Known History: Greog came to Chiorsdale approximately seventy five years ago from the Irons Hills to make a new start at life. His reason for leaving the Hills are not known. His skills at metal craft are widely known by all and few, save the elves, can equal is craftsmanship. His temper is also known to be short when a customer fails to hold up their end of an agreed payment, more than a few would be thieves have felt the strength of his hands!

I’ll post a bio on our good friend Darick in the morning. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Oh Look! It's morning.

Name: Darick Grist

Race: Human……………around 40 years of age.

Occupation: Handyman……….jack of all trades.

Appearance: Darick Grist stands about five foot ten and weighs around onehundred and seventy pounds. Long stringy black hair hangs from head and frames is pale face. Small dark eyes look over a large nose that dominates his face. His lips are as two thin lines which never smile, he has little to smile about these days. Often he is seen wearing a dark brown tunic and leather breaches , of course they reek of spirits and body odor.

Known History: Darick came to Chiorsdale several years ago from Laketown as a guard for a group of merchants and decided to stay here for while and heal an old wound. The wound did heal but he never left the town. Darick performs odd jobs around Chiorsdale to scratch out a living and support his ‘habit’. The Mill provides most of his income (when there is work!) but it has also taken two fingers from his left hand, doesn't pay to work drunk. Darick’s favorite hangout is table 12 at Deedlehound Brunswicks Inn where his money for drinks never seems to run out, on occasion he would buy the house a round or two. Darick rents a building in the Old Trade District and calls it home, of course home to him is where he passes out for the night.
