Ive been developing my character in my head and thought i'd fill you in on her, her names Llinos, she's from Wales in the Valleys she lived. In a village run by an English prince after their welsh one was killed. A man lived in her village named Llewelyn ap Gruffydd, he was a rebel and would not commit to the English ways, he fought to be welsh refused to except the new leadership (hes basically the welsh version of Willian Wallace you know the Braveheart guy) For this reason he was hung drawn and quartered in his village to make and example of him, he fought for what he believed in, the culture of wales, and his heart was true dying proud for this home land. Unknown by the English Prince was that he had a daughter and a son, twins. His wife was killed along side him, but his children the village folk hid and told the prince they were orphans they found wandering. He excepted them, and favoured them for he had no children of his own and since no background was on these children he decided they were adquate to show the welsh how easily they could become English. There names were Ioan and Llinos, he renamed them Thomas and Emma. The girl bluntly refused to take up this new name but hte boy was easier to sway. The prince soon realised Llinos would be troublesome, her brother loved her dearly despite this and her adopted parents Lowri and Rhodri did also. Soon her rebelious welsh ways and belief in everything welsh became too much for the King. He turned her away, and ordered she leave, not having the heart to kill her. Though Llinos left her brother was forbidden to follow, they both knew the Prince woudl kill him if he tried and so they were split.

Llinos wandered rejected, feeling empty without her twin alone being an orphan. But glad because she stood up for what she believed in, and her heart was free to roam and believe in the welsh thather soul belonged to. She knew the story of Llewelyn ap Gruffydd, but it wasn't until before she'd left that her adopted father Rhodri had todl her who she was, and for this she was deeply proud.

Ok so thats her history <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> yay finally i wrote it all down...hehhe

Hey, I think I have a character! Took me a week, but here it is!
Ariannaid (or, as she's usually known, just Aria. It means silver.) is from fair Cymru far away. She has dwelt in Ireland for some years, but still yearns for her home, from which she was forced to abandon as a teen, for reasons she was not told and still doesn't know. She is an entertainer of sorts, often called upon for a song, for she has the fairest voice of any mortal in the clan. Her hair is flaxen pale, and her eyes of light, sparkling green. For the most part, she is lighthearted and merry, and more than willing to divulge tales of Cymru for an audience, but she grows silent as talk leans toward the last years and her departure. All she knows about her flight is that the sky was red with fire behind her, and the air was thick with screams.
In Ireland, she has taken an interest in magic and fantasy, the stuff of the tales she was told as a child. She's always searching for a glimpse of fabled creatures, which gives her a childlike, but endearing, personality.
How's that sound?

oh she came to Ireland in flight you know, celts the Welsh were easily swayed and once they had decided to except the English ways they usualy turned coat, and so drove her away, she was kinda cast as a witch due to the fact of who her Father was. But the thing about the welsh people is that they may say they agree with the English but if a rebellion had been led against them they would have all fought. thats far from the point but i had to say it hehehe im beign all patriotical after watching Hedd Wyn today. Im afraid its another welsh movie about a welsh poet who hated the english envading his country to practice for the 1st world war, he was very deep and soulfull he believed in peace not war etc. theres this great sign where he sings Mafanwy which is my second favoutire song to Suogan and an english bloke punches him cos they were singing and english song. despite them being in wales.

hmm felt liek tellinmg you all about Hedd Wyn...walks away slowly..

Hello! As you can see, I'm new to TORC and looking for an RP to join. I've read the main story RP and gone through most of the posts here in the OOC.(Can't say I absorbed all that wonderful information about Ireland and the celts, but I'll keep trying <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>) I would like to join your RP, if you'll have me. I have an idea for a character, which is actually also the character I chose to use for TORC, sort of. I could be Sadbh (pronounced "Sive" like "Dive"<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> who was born a deer and then transformed into a human and became the bride of Fionn mac Cumhaill. Eventually, an evil druid turned her back into a deer, and although Fionn searched for her, he never found her. I thought maybe I could fit in somehow at the stage where Sadbh has been separated from Fionn because the evil druid wants her for himself. He pursues her and she is kind of wandering around/running away trying to avoid him. Then she could seek refuge maybe in the placewhere the story is set and maybe you resident druid in training could help her. Then perhaps she'll somehow come into the whole thing about the king regaining his clan. Haven't thought that out yet.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif"border=0>
So please let me know what you think. Thanks <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Oh,and Damhnait means fawn in irish, or so I read.

Well, that sounds good to me, but unfortunately I'm not the thread starter person... whatever you want to call that! But welcome to the boards of TORC, Damhnait (I spelt that wrong, didn't I?)!

so my names Caiaine....... sounds fun. How should I appear? I dont want to join right now, too many people joining at once, it would REALLY clutter the story, maybe the first time your in danger.... or something.

How should I look? Hows about a long white dress that never seems to stain and startlingly blue eyes with shoulder length wavy hair and a ring of flowers atop my head?

Oricon

Thank you for the welcome, Ialatiel! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> And no, you spelled it right <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I realize that it almost looks like a swear word. But that's the way it's spelled in the book I got it from.
I'll wait patiently for Istarquendi (I probably got that wrong) to give an official yes or no.meanwhile, I' can still enjoy reading over all the helpful info you guys have put in this OOC.

Damhnait the only this is that Fionn is before or after this story so many you could change your characters story around. Fionn was before or after this time that the story takes place, otherwise to be accurate we would hae to include the stories of Chu Culainn and the other Heros of Ireland.

Blessed Be and Merry Meet!

Hail Istari, you will have to eamil me so we can discuss the story!

Thanks Istariquendi! Liadan, I was a little confused - just to understand when this story is set relative to the whole cattle raid one - is this story before those tales or after? For that matter - when were those stories "set" and when is this story supposed to be set? or are there no specific dates?

Anyway, Ok how about if I just generally keep the same character, but change the names around so it won't be the story of Sadbh and Fionn. I will just be myself (Damhnait) and my husband will be some other name. I'll think of one between now and when I have to name him in the story - I don't intend for him to come into it much. In fact, I think I'll just go ahead and knock him off now or maybe he's under an evil enchantment from this evil druid too.So my story will be that I'm just a young woman who was a deer and turned into a human, married a prince, and then an evil druid started pursuing me, either killed or enchanted my husband (maybe I'll think he's dead and then later on I'll find out he's enchanted) and so I'm running away and in hiding from the druid and need help - obviously <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

If that's OK, I'll go ahead and post in the story, just a general kind of "get myself in there" post, and then if anyone thinks my "bio" needs help, please let me know. As I said I'm new to TORC and totally open to suggestions and help.
Thanks <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I think it probably should be set after the cattle raid, or at least before. We haven't really decided on a date, or Istari hasn't yet anyways. I don't think though it should be at the same time becauser then we would have to incorporate Chu Culainn into it and everybody else from Mebh to Ferdiad, you know. I think your character is a great idea so far!

Blessed Be and Merry Meet!

Yes, I sure don't want to make your story more complicated than necessary! BTW, I see no-one is posting in the main Story. Are we waiting for something? I'm not sure how to jump in if no-one is doing anyhting.
