*Enters and blows dust off everything*
It's been a bit quiet around here, hm?

Just a short, anxious question - I'm wrestling with Picture It! and have been trying to submit one picture again and again (I tried to change the size and the format). So, I wonder, when are the admins really mad with me, apparently to stupid to make the damn thing work??? I honestly try to make it work!!!

Should I send them a note to explain?

It's microsoft, Saro - one of the things included in the software I got my PC with.
I just don't want to make them feel that I'm too pigheaded to understand there message, because I try again and again! And I really try to make it smaller...

But, honestly - since the beginning of my LOTR infatuation my computing skills become better and better!

Anneri,

Try to get the picture to be smaller than 250 x 250 pixels, and about 10 kb. Check it in Explore if you have any doubts (right click and select Properties). As far as I know the only reason pictures get rejected is either because they are too big (over 30 kb, over 300 x 300 pixels) or because of racy content. It's not always easy to tell how big a picture is from within your image software (though most of them have an Image Information menu option which will tell you).

Good luck!
Ethel

Thanks Ethel, that's exactly the problem - it's too big (racy content??? Me? Would never try that!!!). And I couldn't see exactly how big. I'll try your suggestions.

(Ah, and I've got loads of Craig Parker/ Haldir pictures. Maybe I should try to edit and to submit one and dedicate it to you!)

Sorry guys!!! I haven't posted in here for a while, I've been doing most of my talking over at Tea with Auntie. Sorry if you are getting bored. Although Cem, that bowl of chips and salsa does sound appetising............

So how has everyone been? I've finally become accustomed to farm work, my body is now learning to tolerate the pain. And on the plus side, it is getting me a good tan and I am losing weight from all the hard work! Yay. I really haven't been doing much, too busy with work, so this is a really boring post, but I thought that I had better drop in to say kia ora in case you were thinking I had dropped off the face of the earth.

Anyway, must be off, nice to see you all

Varda

Ethel, is there any function which indicates the width and hight in pixels? Not in inches or centimeters? Because that's quite useless, isn't it?

Hello, Ive been lurking around here since before LOTR but decided to join up more officially, i.e. signing in and posting. I know nOObies are supposed to put some sort of resume so here it goes:
I live in Oregon in the Valley which is very similar looking to Britain except for the castles and stone walls and general coolness. (I just closed my eyes and pretend.) Been reading the books forever though maybe not as diligently as some. I can't list the bloodline of Numenor...yet. Currently I'm swimming through about 25 yards of black fabric trying to pull my Ringwraith costume together. I'm also learning to sew at the same time <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>. Up until this point I've kept a fairly tight pocket book as far as movie goodies were concerned but, I have sadly lost all self control as the end looms closer. sigh...oh well.
Im a bit nervous about joing the ranks but am way to attatched to TORC to not say Hi at least. ~The Flaming Mullet~

P.S. (that's a double reference there: one Bowie and one to Henry the Balrogs lovely mane)

P.S.2 It can be shortend to TFM or anything else you can think of <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Hi All!!

TFM-Welcome! I am an adoptee here, Ethel and Saro are the nicest adopters around. I am from Australia, and am fairly young. My LOTR experience is completely the opposite of yours-I hadn't even heard of it before going to see the movie. But after the movie, well, lets just say that I am now as obsessed as any LOTR fan. I have, surprisingly, been able to keep my self-control in regards to ROTK spoilers, I guess that for this one last time, I do not want anything spoiling my movie, and that means no surprises, nothing. LOL. Oh and I like your name.

*Helps herself to some chips and salsa*

So Cem, what have you been up to? Is your knee all better and repaired? I'm getting a haircut this arv, have no idea what I am doing with it, but as long as I don't come out bald its all good! I am just about to settle in for a day of watching the audio commentaries on TTT:EE, am halfway through the cast one. oh my how funny are Billy and Dom, they seriously crack me up. Nice rainy day here, oh well, we really need the rain actually.

Anyway I must be off, got lots of LOTR goodness to watch!

*Waves to everyone else*

Varda

Welcome to Aunties TheFlamingMullet (cool name btw<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>). It’s so nice to see Varda, another of us n00bs, dropping by to greet you. That’s one of the reasons for adoption threads, a friendly place to ask questions and meet people. Why not go over to tea with Aunty E in the Talk forum, we all hang out there and are always happy to make room for one more.

I’m a guy, in my late twenties and I’m English. I work for the National Health Service as a Reception Manager and I also do a bit of bank nursing with people who have Learning Disabilities/Mental Health problems. I’ve also got a Diploma in Archaeology and love anything to do with history.

Varda: Nice to see you fitting in so well.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Cem: We need to chat, so I can start apologising again.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Noldorin: Pleased to meet you.

Anneri: Sorry, I cant offer any adivce, I've never used that program.

Ethel: Mega-Post coming up soon?

Waves to Saro and everyone else.

“Uncle” Arve (just networking)

Lovely sig pic Anneri!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Hello TFM! Welcome to TORC… feel free to ask any stupid questions here!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Well, Varda, I went through pure HECK yesterday, which included a migraine of vomitous proportions & one of the busiest entry days we’ve had at the shelter. We were euthanizing dogs just to make room for new ones. Not an idyllic situation in anyway. And then I had to stay at work late to help my boss with something. Though after work I got to party at Aidi’s house for her birthday… meaning I got to watch the 2nd episode of Horatio Hornblower & some special features on POTC. (Which includes swooning for Orlando’s hat! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>) Today isn’t much better since there is slushy snow all over.

Interesting picture there Arve…. I won’t comment any further! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> I’ll catch ya later! (Ooh, what woman doesn’t love a man apologizing…. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0>)

Well, I’m at work so I’d got to go for now… have some more chips & I’ve got a belated birthday cake for Aidi!! Help yourselves!! ~Cem <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif"border=0>

Ps~ TFM… now we have the flat mate… *and* the flaming mullet… just enough to confuse me! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
Hi,
I've been reading the forums for a while now and decided that it was time that I got involved (rather than just talking to the monitor). So I took a look around parts of the forum I hadn't been in before and I ended up here - I like what you've done with the place.

Anyhow, just thought that I'd let myself be known.
Hi there tween*t*mountains*&*t*sea, do you mind if I call you *t & t* until you think of something better? Anyway, welcome to Aunty E’s & Sister S, a place were you can ask all sorts of questions about TORC and get to meet some friendly people. If you want to be adopted, why not tell us a bit about yourself, it’s always nice to know who your talking to.

Whether you want to be adopteed or not, you might find it helpful to read the first post, it’s full of useful info that even the most dedicated lurker can benefit from. I’m sure Ethel or Saro will be along to properly greet you later. If you want to know more about me, I posted some details just a few posts ago.

Cem: I don’t know, first you obsess about Gollum, now it’s the Royal Navy and men in uniform, sexy minx. Sorry to hear you had a bad day at the shelter.

See you all later.

“Uncle” Arve
Hey everyone

Just a quick post to say hi and that i haven't dropped off the face of the earth. Don't worry cem, you don't need to put out more food, well not for me anyway. I haven't posted for ages, I've been absolutely working my asse off, and have many aches and pains, and by the time I get home and have a shower, its time to get dinner, go to bed, then get up at 5am to start it all over again. And all in the HOT aussie sun with a swarm of flies following me. Yay. Soooooooooooooooo glad that I only have to do this until uni starts. So yeah, sorry that I haven't been in, I've been too busy. However, starting friday, I am home alone for like a week, so that means nobody around to stress me out. Yay!

Oh and another question, when did POTC come out on DVD/video in America? I have been looking and looking and there hasn't been a mention of it coming out anytime soon over here in OZ, and it is beginning to frustrate me............

Damn it sux being in oz at the moment with all the ROTK stuff happening, I mean, i have to wait until BOXING DAY, come on BOXING DAY people until I can see it. Have some pity on me and my fellow aussie tolkienaholics (or something). And the stupid media over here can't even get the simplest things right, I mean, on the radio the other day they were promoting some competition for it, and they said something along the lines of 'join in aragen's quest' (said exactly the way it is spelt). I mean, come on, it has only been around for like 3 YEARS! Anyway I will end my ranting here to say hello and goodbye to everyone, as I am very sleepy and must get some beauty sleep if I am to get up at 5am tomorrow half refreshed. See ya all round

Varda

But it's nice to see a 'fellow-sufferer' - yeah, ROTK comes out on the 17th here, like in the US and UK, but the difficulties to overcome to see it in the original and not dubbed! The difficulties to read any megazines that are mentioned around here! And so on.

But nevertheless, Varda, I can imagine how horrible it is to wait for so much longer than we have to - then I'd even settle with the crappy German version!
