OoH! Hello again you guys. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Hm I've missed tons haven't I? Took me ages to read through all of that. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Well India was real fun and all that <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Ah but three weeks of no TORC. Missed you guys. (cue for everyone to go Awwwww)

(Uncle) Arve! My, what white teeth you have! HellO! I've grown awfully fat on Indian food. NoOoO.

Hi Varda! Hm it's really nice to see someone closer to my age. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Yayy. And what you were saying about time zones, I have to agree...If I log onto TORC at night I usually have to give up halfway any ways cos' the whole other half of the world seems to be online. Harumph. I live in Singapore. I've been to Australia! Wonderful wonderful place. Except for the cricketers. Harumph. They're giving India such a hard time. (I'm Indian by the way. As you could probably tell. Heh. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>)

Hi Leia! Lovely username (though I'm completely Star Wars ignorant, except for loving Yoda, begging your pardon) and ooh I love New Zealand. Wonderful wonderful place too! Heh. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Every day I open the papers here and I see articles on New Zealand. Our Dep. Prime Minister just came back from there. He got to see WETA Sideshow. How unfair.

Hi Tween! And Aidi! And Ethel (oh I love your pic <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>)! And everyone else!

Saro~ how's dear Griffin? And how you doing? He looks adorable. A little Elfling! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Anneri- Hihi! You look nice in red. Yayy!

Cem- Congrats on hitting a 1000! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Yayy. Ooh cool you going for Trilogy Tuesday? Luckyy! I like your doggie. One of my best friends just got a Golden Retriever Puppy. It's named Skywalker! Whee.

Hm. They're showing movie marathons here too. Of LotR, I mean. Me going! Me happy! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Gee. In a way, though, I'm completely dreading Wednesday. Or the day when the RotK SE comes out. Because after that, it's the end. The end. Of course, I still have tons of Tolkien books to read and all...but it just won't be the same. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> All good things must come to an end, I suppose. *sob.

Happy early Christmas! And I'm really sorry for this being so long. :S

Hey everyone!!!!

Wow, some new faces have appeared since I was last in here............ hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Alcanielle-welcome back! I didn't actually know that you were indian or from singapore, so forgive my ignorance. Yeah Australia is a very nice country in some respects, but when it comes to nationaly beauty, I would have to say that New Zealand takes the cake. I went there on an exchange program, absolutely loved it too. Oh about the cricket, well I think that Australia should win just out of pure respect to Steve Waugh, I mean come on, it is his LAST EVER test series captaining Australia. But I don't want to get into an argument about it, you are too nice a person!!!! And finally, HOW CAN YOU LIKE THE CROC HUNTER!!!!!!!! It is really strange because most people overseas love him, but most aussies absolutely hate him, we think he is such a........................for lack of a better word (ahem)..............tool. I sooooooooooooooooo hope that most people don't think all Aussies are like that, honestly, we have had to put up with him for ages, he is such an idiot. But if you like him, thats cool, no probs here, he is still aussie I spose..................

Piccoleia-Kia Ora! Haere mai, kei te pehea koe? Not done very well, but you get the point. As you have probably already been told heaps, Ethel and Saro are the best adopters around, they are soooooooo nice and welcoming Aaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwww
I am an adoptee here as well, so I look forward to getting to know you! As you might have already guessed, I am an aussie, and also a tolkienaholic, but who isn't these days? I am so jealous that you live in new zealand, I went there for 3 months on a short matched exchange program 3 years ago. I stayed in the north island though, in Whangarei (I'm sure you have probably heard of it), but I never got to visit the south island. Tell me, did you get to see any of the production or anything? Being in the south island I was wondering if you would have had the chance to be involved. I will be so jealous if you did.

To everyone else: nice to see you all, I haven't been on for a few days. This arv at work, it absolutely poured rain, and because I currently work at a farm, we kept working out in the open. Needless to say that in 5 minutes I was drenched, but man it was soooooooo much fun. hehehe although the men found it rather enjoyable, with all the wet t-shirts on the females. So now I am frantically trying to get my shoes dry for tomorrow. YIKES! oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh my countdown is now at 11 days until ROTK comes out, I can't believe you can all see it in 2 days! That sucks. Gosh, in a holiday review in the paper yesterday, they listed ROTK under the category 'Teens and the young at heart'. I was most offended. Oh well. I am planning to stay away from the internet starting the 17th onwards, just incase the explosion of spoilers becomes too much for me. But I am very proud of myself, I have avoided every single spoiler mentioned, no pictures or anything, apart from the trailer which I watch at least 3 times a day on a regular basis. But the sadness is just getting too much, the thought that it is all ending, and I won't have anything else to look forward too every year (apart from ROTK: EE). I think that half of my tears during the movie will be because it is the last one. Oh well. Like Alcanielle said, All good things must come to an end. Anyway, I think that is enough ramblings for one day, I'll talk to you all soon

Have a good time watching ROTK if I don't talk to any of you before then.

Varda

Varda~ Good morning! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Alcani~ You *like* the crocodile hunter?!!! That man is a complete idiot! He doesn't even know how to properly handle a snake <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> He's a complete phoney... now Jeff Corwin... licks lips there's a dude that knows his animals... and he looks good on screen!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Morning to everyone else! Hey you guys <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Varda- Gee thank you <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> You are a nice nice person too. Naturally. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Yayy. I agree, New Zealand is such a beautiful country...Hm yes and I'd have to agree, Steve Waugh is really amazing. You work on a farm! A farm! How cool is that! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I visited a farm in Melbourne. It was lovely.

Hm. Well I'm not a big obsessing (I think that's spelt wrong?) fan of Steve Irwin, but trust me, when the only crocs you can meet here are in the zoo (there used to be a crocodile farm in S'pore. Gee. o.O) you kind of settle for what you do get. He doesn't know how to handle snakes??? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> Well I don't either really but still. Hmph. He ought to. I'm not a big big reptile fan but oh I love marine creatures! Dolphins! Whales! Everything! Yayy. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I loved Finding Nemo.

Cem- Jeff Corwin's cooL! Licks lips? Hehe. I don't really watch his programme much though. Actually I don't watch much TV. Except Discovery Travel and Adventure. It rocks rocks rocks. (Oh Varda is Ian Wright Australian?)They showed this programme a while back about New Zealand...it was like one in which the Prime Minister, Helen Clark, she was "hosting" it. How cool is that.

Well then, this is quite pointless, so ta then. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Ethel! Miss you!

Dear Friends,

I started this adoption thread a year and three months ago. Being a TORC adopter has been a very, very great pleasure. I have met so many wonderful people. I have had lovely conversations, and seen many of my 'adoptees' go on to become highly respected posters on these boards. It has been an absolutely fantastic experience.

But my life has changed. I now no longer have enough time to spend online to do a proper job of monitoring this thread and welcoming people. There are some of you I have not even said hello to! Bad Ethel! Please accept my warm greetings to this wonderful website along with my apologies.

Anyway, with great regret I have finally decided that I can simply no longer be a TORC adopter. Therefore I must close this thread. I asked my co-adopter, Saroneuroe (who was also my very first 'adoptee'! ) if she felt up to carrying on alone, or wanted to recruit a new co-adopter. Alas, Saro is unable to do this. (If you wonder why, check out that adorable 3 week old baby in her sig. )

That leaves no alternative but to close the thread, much as I hate to do it. The chat thread I started for my adoptees in the Talk forum will, however, continue (Tea with Auntie III... ). I won't be "hosting" it any more, but it long ago took on a life of its own - with as many board veterans as newcomers participating - and I expect it to continue into at least its fourth generation. For Saro has graciously offered to start a new thread when the current one reaches its 2000 post limit.

Any of you are welcome to participate in that thread. Just jump in at the end and start posting. You won't find a nicer bunch of people anywhere on TORC. And, though I have renounced my "hostess" role, I shall continue to post there too when time permits.

Thank you all for making this such a wonderful experience.

With affection and regret,

Ethel

edited to add: if I can answer any questions or help in any other way, please feel free to email me at: ethel.capulet@netzero.net !
