Bramblerose, heh heh, I know. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> I figured as long as the information is there, I may as well stuff it into one post rather than two.

You know, all of us adoptees, even though we just talk to you,are like one big happy family.

Glad you feel right at home here. When I first joined I felt like an alien, but now TORC is like my family. I've never been as close with any people on a messageboard as with the folks here. I'll even be meeting a bunch of them next month. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> You can see why I'm protective of this little utopia. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

It gets gloomy around this time of year here, too. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-crying.gif"border=0> If the trees didn't look so beautiful, I wouldn't like autumn at all! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I really want to go elf, but I'm not sure.

They say once you go Elf, you never go back. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Tall schmall. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Dress how you want. I understand that, but why then did they not lock the thread that I got the picture from? And why was someone else allowed to have a Treebeard sig? Rest assured, you have not made me mad. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Actually, I've only ever gotten mad at one single person in my time at TORC. I would suggest using puwen, your Elvish name, if only because there is a notable role-player on the boards by the name of Aerin. It may cause some confusion. I don't know if that is the name of her character, though. I'll try to find that out, too! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> It may not be a problem at all, though, because there is one RPer (orliesmyhusband) who's character's name is Oricon, and there is also another poster named Oricon.

Sorry if that was confusing, <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> but I'm just saying: either name is fine, just as long as you know people may confuse you for the TORCer known as Aerin. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

One more thing, if you could, try to use proper grammar. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I don't mind you typing however you want in this thread, but just to let you know - it's not a good habbit to get into on the rest of the boards. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Some people here do not speak English as a first language and they have trouble reading misspelled words and netspeak. Everybody misspells words now and then, but try to make a habbit of using proper punctuation and grammar. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> It makes it easier for others to read.

*E*

Hello *E*
just picked up on something you posted in a thread

Seriously, I had a blast voting last year. Sometimes I think we should do it twice a year, just because when we're voting for newbies, it's tough to remember a year back. I mean, I've only been here a few months but it seems like forever! That would be the White Council Awards. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> They are held in late June, and the categories are different every year. This year, we had ones such as Least Likely to Become a Moderator and Proud of It!, Intimidator award, Sexiest TORCer, Most Pinchable Cheeks, etc. It's TORCers voting for other TORCers. If you check out this thread you can see what they nomination process was like for the 2002 awards, and the actual ceremony is right here. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

It's a great show because it involves all of TORC - whether you're a newbie, an oldbie, a role-player, a book fanatic, a movie fanatic - there's a category for everyone.

*E*

I know that you also have a thread for Legolas Day in the Fandom forum. Did you post it in the Bird and the Baby first? If so, a Mod probably moved it over to Fandom because it is better suited there. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> If you have posted the thread in both forums, a Mod probably deleted the B&B one because that's what they do with duplicate threads. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

About those votes, I have posted an answer near the bottom of the first page of this thread. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Basically, the votes are a now-defunct feature that still show up under our names even though we don't use them. If you'd like to know what they were used for, this thread is very helpful: Renown, Votes, Ratings - What are these? Elentari, I don't think adoption is restricted to just newbies. For one thing, there's no exact way to claim who's a newbie and who isn't. Basically, if someone is looking for help, regardless of how long they've been at TORC, adopters try to provide it. Most of the adopters ask each other for help as well. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

If you'd like to start your own adoption thread, you must send in an application email to Adoptions@TolkienOnline.com explaining what you feel makes a good adopter, what things you think an adopter should teach their people, and why you are qualified. Also include a bit of information about what forums you frequent, and what your other hobbies and interests are. Applications are reviewed by a panel of moderators before approval.

Elwena, it's not that I don't need your help <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> it's just not my decision. All adopters must apply to start threads in here. If a thread is run by a group of people, then each member must send in an application, and include what other members they are working with. Also, to be an adopter, you must have been signed up for at least four months. You will be able to send in an application on December 10, but not before. After that, you must wait for approval to start your thread.

*E*

You should sign up to the School of Adopters. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> That way, you can learn even more about the site (we all are), and that's where I go if I can't answer someone's question. Even when I am busy, I always check this thread first. Thank you very much for the offer, I'm just not sure if that would be okay - I think the Mods want everyone to apply whether they are helping out or starting their own thread. You could ask in the School and make sure, though. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Heh, heh, I won't comment on pervy, but I know that the Adoption forum was started because they were having problems with some of the adopters. I also think it's a good idea to screen the adopters, that way they know the newbies are in good hands. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

*E*

You found your thread? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> If you ever lose a thread like that again, do a search for it. At the very top of this page, there are a couple of buttons such as my settings, my info, register, and search. Click on the search button and you can type in the name of the thread you are looking for. If it has not been deleted, a link to it will appear. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

*E*

LTL, I moved your thread from Talk to Fandom. I also sent an email to the adress listed in your profile informing you of the move. If you did not receive such an email, you may want to check and be sure the address listed in "My Info" (at the top of this window) is correct. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Perhaps she does not subscribe the threads? If that was the case, it wouldn't matter if she had the correct address or not, she wouldn't know the thread was moved. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

LTL, are you subscribed to any of the threads you have posted in? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

*E*

I know, isn't she adorable? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> She's almost a month old. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Subscribing really helps to keep on top of the threads you post in. I post in a lot of threads in a lot of different forums, and I can't always keep track of them. It's a great help to check my e-mail and see which ones have been updated. Sure, they really pile up after a while, but I delete them as soon as I check out that thread, so it's nowhere near as bad as having to get rid of hundreds of spam you're never going to read. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

*E*

Good for you, kiddo. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

I'll be having a different signature pic every day. If I run out of good ideas, I'll start re-submitting my favorite pics. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I like this one, too. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I keep track of every signature I've ever had, so the best ones will not be lost forever once I take them down. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

*E*
