Never would have recognised him. And yes, I preferred Clooney. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>.

Andu, no Emergency Room at Malta? Wow! What a time I've had. I found many places I would seriously consider making my first post other than the welcome and adoption boards. I especially like some of the Writing Threads I've found on many of the fora!

Some things I've learned..<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Read before you post something!
Read some more before you post something!
Read even more before you post something!

Legolas is a Polygamist?! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0>

I apparently fall in the older generation, even though I lied about my birthday in info(hey, its a female thing), so would I be a majority or a minority on these Boards?

Big sigh.. Oh my.. What's a noob to do? So many places..So little time..

Smiles,
Jilbo

fishy, Sirius and I are in negotiations for that, actually. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Jilbo, learned well you have, my young padawan. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> That's probably the singular most important thing you can do. LURK! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Even a couple of months ago, I nearly made a fatal mistake in the m00bies forum. I had stumbled across a fake trailer for a movie version of "The Hobbit," which was astoundingly well done and almost fooled me. I was just about to click the "done" button, when I realized I hadn't searched for that particular topic yet. I found four threads on it that had been posted in JULY. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> All the progress I had been making would have been flushed down the terlet. LOL I'm established enough now that if I make a silly mistake it'll be laughed off, but at that point I had just won Male Newbie of the Year, and I would have been laughed right out of m00bies.

Ahh, memories...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Yeah, I've seen you making shameless plugs for my thread here. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> And to tell you the truth, I really appreciate it! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> It means a lot to me that you think I'm a good enough adopter to recommend me to other n00bs, you being my first adopter and everything.

From all I've seen, you haven't done a thing wrong, hon. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Matter of fact, you're one of the better and more disciplined n00bies this site's had. Well, since I was a n00b, anyway. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Man, does that seem like an age ago. And hey, congrats on your first sword! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Beware though, post count icons are like unto the One Ring in their power over a poster here. Once you have your first, it's hard to stop spamming your way to more and more and more...LOL <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Thanks for popping in here so often!

Stormy ><>

For the most part, the mods here are as lenient as they can be. Especially w/n00bies. They're all great people, along with Jon and Ted. You don't have to worry about Blackwood being upset because you were trying to help someone, that's for sure. You'll see them really crack down on someone from time to time, but only when it's absolutely necessary.

Only one answer I can give ya, Elwen.

Just. That. Good. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Actually, over half my first page was just everyone I know from the site, so it's not really two pages of adoption just yet. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Don't worry, as soon as people see how kewl you are, you'll pass me in a hurry. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Yay!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Hiya lotr_gal. Welcome! I'm so glad you came. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

As you can see Stormy's is one of the newer adoption agencies, and he is very kind and informative. I was feeling a bit lost until I came here. I've been doing alot of lurking around the Boards to try and find everything and there are so many places to go and things to do.

It's wonderful to meet you. What kind of role playing do you like to do? It looks like we have alot of choices here.

People are suggesting we check out RPing 101, Lucky Fortune Inn and the Prancing Pony. I think I'm gonna start doing some lurking there
<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> and of course, I always peek my head back in here as well so I will talk to you soon. Again Welcome! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Waves back to eLwEnaReDhEl

Wow! What a name you have there! Mr. Stormcrow,

I admit. I have been lurking around these boards quite a bit, but finally got the courage to join up. I have come here on the advice I see in many posts.. get adopted. So here I am. Your Most Humble Abode looks quite nice. Have any room for a Fair Lady of Gondor?

I am fairly new to Tolkien. I did not read the books until right after Fellowship came out. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0> So I guess I really am a newbie.

Besides, I could not resist someone who looks like Anthony Edwards <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Thank you
Gilraen

That means I now have five, count 'em five adoptees! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> That's okay, I didn't read the books until right after Fellowship either. I have now read LOTR four times, the Sil and the Hobbit once. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Counting the days until the 17th! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Jilbo, certainly you two can practice your RP here, as long as it doesn't get too involved. When you feel you're ready for the next step, just hop on over to the Lucky Fortune Inn. It's in the Welcome Forum, and that's where most people get their start. I, on the other hand, jumped in with both feet like I did when I joined. My first posts were in heated debate in Manwë, the Philosophy Forum. I spent two years of my life as a youth pastor at two churches, so the religious arguments really floated my boat. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> It was quite fun, actually, though many are very much intimidated by the Philosophy forum. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

If you want to see what RP'ing can turn into on this site, check out some of my Mithril Knight in Training posts. I started posting about halfway down this page, and have had a real blast with it. If you want to know more about the Mithril Knights, talk to me via email or IM. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Edit: I just remembered, we got a Parm poem! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Prmiller, or Parm is a very respected poster here and a very good friend of mine, who has been a missionary in Japan with his family for nearly twenty years now. He became a friend of mine through this wonderful site, and is quite the inspiration. As I was awarded Male Newbie of the Year at this year's TORC White Council Awards, he was voted "Lighthouse Beacon." He's very much an encouragement to many posters on the board. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
