There's an exhibit of LOTR costumes out here in Los Angeles at the Fashion Museum. I'm definitely going to that ASAP ! Cant take pictures, though. Anyone else from the Gingerbread House live close enough to go?

I saw pictures of that display, it looks incredible! Do you know how much longer it's going to be there? If I can't afford Boston that might be somehting to consider. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> One of my cousins is getting married down there this summer, maybe I could make a little side trip...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I'm really sad I didn't get to go to any Gatherings so I think I'm trying to compensate by participating in post-movie events <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> (My mother actually did that to me the other day, the awful eye-roll. Go to FIDM.com for all the info on the costume exhibit. It's costumes only. No props as far as I know.

There is also a thread in the movies forum about it.

I think it goes until the beginning of April. There are also costumes from other movies as well. But I don't think it's worth a plane ride out here for a few costumes! However, there's always Disneyland.........

Don't feel too bad Elrin. I didn't get my license until I was 18. I think it helped me be a better driver than I would have been and probably spared me from a few school parking lot related tickets<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

I also learned to drive with a monsterous cargo van, Tulula, which I endured until i had enough money to buy my own car

Motorwife. I think your rigth about the not being worth too much money. I'm pretty poor. The Boston thing is even more of a stretch. I should probably start out with something easy, like a local moot. Or i could go get another veiwing of ROTK in.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Mulllet, may I call you Mullet, how did you do that link to your car pic? I can do a link on the net,but... Wynkeeeeeeeeen, you don't need to buy me anything! I'm fine, seriously! I only have one thing I actually want (other than a cell phone cover, but I'm starting to think they don't make them for mine phone now...my friend is on a mission to find one though <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>), and that's an ipod. More clothes would always be nice too, but no, presents are bad!

Elrin, my father complains about insurance a lot. Oh well, it's worth it if you get in an accident.
Elrin: Don’t worry about the driveway thing. Driving is scary. Even though I was older when I got my license I still managed to run into a bank wall, knock off a fender and get a speeding ticket for 52 in a school zone. All in my first year! I’m sure you’ll do fine. Mmmm, corvettes, older ones are so pretty. *Drool*

Wynken: I have my own <a href=' http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/midwives_to_history/Opening.html' target=_blank>website so I just put pics on there that I want to be able to link too. So I’m still just linking to the net. I don’t know how to link pictures that are just on the computer. I haven’t been to any of those places in Eugene but I’ll have to check it out next time I’m down.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I’ve never got through the Bakshi or even started the Rankin/Bass. After this thread though I may revisit old haunts...

I have the bare minimum for insurance because regular coverage on my car cost a lot more than average. It’s on the there’s-good-chance-there’s-a-hot-headed-boy-driving-it list so they bump the price up. GRRRR<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif"border=0>
That's funny Mullet, about the hot-headed-boy thing, but so true. I know in Florida it doesn't seem to matter whether you are a girl or boy it is still crazy outrageously high! I am from Tennessee, born and raised all my life. I just moved to Flordia 3 yrs ago and everything is more expensive, faster paced, etc. I tried to stay on my Tenn. insurance for as long as I could but eventually had to delve out the funds for the FL insurance <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif"border=0> .

Okay Elwen, I guess I won't send it to you, but I do hope you get your ipod you want <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

My Dad is sending me B-day money and I am going to buy the ring of Galadriel, I think. Do you have any suggestion on what I should buy, I really want to get something cool, the best for my bucks ya know. Maybe I should start a thread..."I have $200 what do you recommend I buy?" you think that is dumb, or would TORC be like weirdo or something...if i posted such a thread in the collection forum? I never started a new thread, and don't know how to do it..so if you think that is a good idea, can you tell me how to start a new thread?

I have Arwen's necklace and the Elven brooch. Love them both. I also have the "elven ring" made by the Noble Collection that is "inspired by" the movie but not actually "from" the movie. I am going to get my husband the Ring of Barahir for father's day.

noblecollection.com
i would love to buy the one ring. my mom put her foot down. she won't pay $295 for it. i got a booklet with the two towers. a guy in my school drools over it. he keeps trying to get me and my boyfriend to break up. hmm, better go kick his butt. i think he's scared of me. its actually very funny.

Ice is nice but knives save lives <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
Ok that was incredibly cheesy. I wish I could wear pretty things more but I'm so clumsy I'm afraid I'd lose or break the sparklies. This is why I swoon for the Nazgul sword in the mall. w00t w00t!!1 Happy Birthday Wynken!

(I'm sure Satch would say the same thing, but she's off in Liverpool, that stupid #*$#&*!)

I've got the Evenstar, 75 bucks off Noble Collection. It broke though. Figures <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> Been too lazy to remember to find the superglue, and since I wouldn't wear it to school it's not that big of a deal.

I would buy something you could wear a lot, for example some of the earings they have, because it's not so blatently obvious that you're wearing a huge LotR necklace <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> A ring would be good too. I would not get the Evenstar or the One Ring if I had my chance again, because I just don't think I'd wear them. I might wear Nenya if it wasn't too big (I have very small fingers, so it might look too big for me), and I would wear earings and maybe one of the leaf necklaces they had. Just pick what you like and what you know you would wear.

Mullet, do you have your ears pierced? It's hard to lose earings <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> You just have to make sure you put them away in a box of some sort and don't misplace that. Things like rings are very easy to lose though. Since this summer I've lost 3 I think, and I've worn 5 different ones <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

Are you going to send it into the reading room or post it on TORC?

LadyCoralie (a TORC poster) reads everything before it's submitted to the reading room, to make sure it's family friendly, so if it is she'll submit it.

If you post it on the boards, you want to make sure it doesn't have any swear words or anything that would be inappropriate. Check the TOS (there's a link on the top right corner of the page) if you're unsure if it would be okay.
