I have finals...so this is probably just another form of procrastination. We shall see :P

Things feel so different back here though...how ME must have felt after the elves left. Everybody I know is gone...it's kind of strange...

*motorwife checks herself to see if she is in fact gone. she appears to still be here*

humpf.....not EVERYONE is gone. but a lot of people are. you're right that it isnt the same. but i still can't bring myself to stop coming here. i still enjoy it and want to be a part of it.

and yes, you're procrastinating. just like i am. i should be cleaning the kitchen but i'm on the computer instead. the kitchen can wait. maybe the kitchen fairies will come and clean it while i'm sleeping.

Well of course some people are still here...you most importantly :P I don't know who's gone and who's still here, but I can almost feel that most of the people I remember from my first year here are gone.

Yep I should be showering and studying for finals right now. Instead I'm back here, and actually worked up the courage to post in Manwe. It's not as scary now that I don't spend all my time here :P

No caffeine for me please..

I used to come here 1 1/2 years ago. I remember when Motorwife joined Satch & Elwens little home here. I just kind of... I don't know... left!

Anyway, I was bored, the wife was working, and I thought I'd check in to see how things were on TORC.

Last time I was in the Leterature section I got attacked for defending Terry Brooks when someone else called him a plagiarist (sp?)... that was fun actually :D

Anyways, it's good to see that you still are here Motorwife...

I just spent nearly 2 hours reading one thread... and now I'm tired :(

I'll enjoy speaking with you again

well i'm glad you're back !

I haven't read any Terry Brooks stuff but since you have, maybe you could offer your opinion. My 13 year old son is really into epic fantasy adventure type stuff and I'm always looking for new books to keep him busy. Would Brooks be appropriate for a 13 year old? Right now he's reading the Silmarillion and loving it !

Brooks is very good. His first book (Sword of Shannara) is a lot like LOTR, but the rest are very different. He's a very good writer.
And very appropriate for a 13 year old. I read it for the 1st time when I was 15.

A lot of Tolkien fans hate his stuff, for the reason that his 1st book is sooo similiar to LOTR. Brooks wrote it when he was 17.

Don't make me go throught that again!
:bang: lol
It is similiar to tolkien, but still different.

I enjoy all of his books that I have read. I'm pretty sure a young man, say 13, would like them very much!

I've read the Terry Brooks stuff... It's good but a bit dark in some of places... :D I read them when I was maybe about 14/15... It's a bit like LOTR but not... For one the elves are mortal and I don't remember dwarves I think. I'm rambling. :D

All the races in Brooks world (with the exception of the Elves) are evolved from humans. Dwarves, Trolls, gnomes... and the rest. Depending on where the people went ro hide from the Great Wars.

The Elves were always there, but they kept themselves hidden from the rest of the world, but they were mortal
