A little bit about each of us:
I'm Swiss, 37 years young, a travel agent and therapist (herbalist, kinesiologist etc.) by profession (and a Mom). I have a keen interest in languages, cultures, nature and of course a passion for all things Middle Earth. My spare time is filled with reading, writing and volunteering at our local school where I'm actively involved in the art council as well as the parents association. My particular fortes are teamwork on a multi-cultural multi-lingual platform, flexibility, perseverance. On TORC I spent most of my time in the B&B, the Pony, Guilds and TOR.
I am a British male, currently living with the love of my life (see below) and enjoying every minute of it. I have two degrees, a BA in Religious Studies with History and an MA in History; my specialisation is in Fifteenth Century Europe and the Wars of the Roses. I am a keen role player and have been playing role playing games since 1979. I think I have touched in most genres, but always feel drawn to fantasy, especially MERP, D&D and Runequest. How many other Role players can say they have spent time as a berserker duck! On TORC I can usually be found in ‘Bird & Baby’, in the Prancing Pony and in Manwë. I also post occasionally in Games, Movies and Books-Other but I do like to lurk in other forums to see what is happening.
Edain has traversed the boards for just over 4 years. During this time I've seen Role play in the Pony develop from the experimental threads to the widely accepted conventions that we now see today. I'm a 27 year old Brit living in the Midlands area near to Mordor, (or Birmingham), and I work & study at University. On Torc you can usually find me in Talk, passing opinion on a variety of subjects. Though in my time here I have posted pretty much everywhere. There are two places I take a more particular interest: Alliances (almost exclusively Bowmen's Guild), though you could say my spiritual home is really The Pony. I'm currently in three RPs Lebannin Conspiracy, The Sea Wolves, and my own thread Rain on Bree. My interest in Role Play and writing is not confined to Torc, I've role-played (and Dungeon Mastered) in both Table top and Live action systems such as AD&D, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, the World of Darkness. In my spare time I like to travel the UK, Re-enact, and practice martial arts, when not listening to music or reading. My writing is generally realised on Torc, but I strive to improve it, and enjoy helping other in doing so.
I’m a single female and live in the United States (Minnesota to be exact), and am enjoying a fulfilling relationship with a man whose four children live with us every other week. I have two daughters of my own who are grown, three grandchildren, one dog and one cat and on my last birthday I reached ~gasp~ the half-century milestone! I make my living working as a bartender, though I’m in the process of starting a business of my own doing upholstery. In my spare time, I like to read, write for the role-plays I’m involved in, and spend time with my family. My passion for the world Tolkien created has been with me ever since I first found his books in the school library oh so long ago and it was while learning how to surf the net that I found Torc. After a number of visits to read the news updates and articles about the forthcoming movies, I noticed there was a message board. Curious (since the concept of a message board was foreign to me), I took the plunge, registered and soon after found the Pony. Having never heard of role-play before, I read a great deal, studied the diverse styles of writing being used, did a lot of research, learned from the trials and errors of others and then jumped in with both feet and started a story. It wasn’t long before I joined a few other role-play’s being written and thus began a relationship that has lasted more than 4 years. I’ve been a part of three different stories that have come to successful conclusions, including the one I started as a complete novice.
I've been at TORC for two and half years, the first two as Novice, then I took a little break and reincarnated as Impenitent. I'm a Aussie living in Melbourne, aged 44, mother of two delicious children and happily married to my beloved. I earn my crust as a publications designer and editor of a community magazine. We have three incestuous guinea pigs, a cat who thinks he's human and three goldfish (at last count) and we're currently knee-deep in mud, as we're renovating/remodelling our house as owner-builders. I've been in love with the written word since I first learned to read. Love of Tolkien's universe as revealed through his books led me to TORC where I haunted the Books forum and helped establish the Virtual Tolkien Study Group forum. With a group of Books forum friends, I became an adopter in the Bookworms Garden and the associated Talk chat thread, the Bookworms Lounge. Being a curious soul, I also stuck my nose into the Movies forum and Council of Manwë but found my real calling in the Prancing Pony. I love being involved in narrative storytelling, and feel passionately about the RP's I'm involved in - I want them to be alive and compelling and I happily devote my energy to making an RP story as enjoyable as possible for all involved - the writers as well as the readers. I'm also aware that RP writing is a skill that has to be learned and developed and that all of us can improve and hone our skills by learning from each other - and so I feel privileged to be involved in this RP mentoring group.
I'm female, English and 26 years old and so fortunate as to live with Dindraug, assorted weaponry and more books than our home was designed to fit. I'm a history graduate and still passionate about the subject - the 12th century in particular - and Din and I spend many of our summer weekends involved in re-enactment with a living history group. My other passion is Formula One motor-racing and the Ferrari team in particular. I enjoy literature, poetry and (unsurprisingly) am obsessed with Tolkien's work; I've been writing in runes since I first read The Hobbit, aged 9. On TORC, I spent a year as an adopter, before time constraints took over, although the ‘adoptive family’ are still close through our chat thread and real life meetings. I am active around the ‘Bird and Baby’, am a member of the Bards' Guild and I also spend a substantial amount of my time involved in collaborative roleplay writing in ‘The Prancing Pony’. I make regular forays into ‘The One Ring’, ‘Alliances and Guilds’ and ‘Events’ and I also have an incurable lurking habit around ‘Manwë’, ‘The Scriptorium’ and ‘The Green Dragon’.
I am 34 years old, German, and I live in Geneva, Switzerland, where I work as a teacher for German and history. I am married and have two sons aged four and six. My job and my family are the pillars of my life, which make me very happy and very busy. My main interests are reading, all forms of art and beauty, including music and poetry, history and languages. In this group I am the only one who is neither a native speaker of English nor has regular oral practice. I love to write and have rediscovered this pleasure with RP, a bit more than two years ago on TORC. Currently, I write in three RPs: Redemption, Darkness Rising and the Seekers, in each with a different character. Otherwise, I can be found in Talk, and sometimes in Alliances and Guilds or in the Scriptorium.
