Thanks heliona on the information on your work, which I knew of course. But for some reason, once time goes by, I can't remember WHICH days are which. :D Did you go to the website in the second of the two posts? That is the one that has the different pictures loaded. I can see about 5 of the dishes. You have to wait for them to change, like a slideshow. But I see it okay from this end. :D

I think you are right about the weather where you are vs Ayslhyn. Would you LIKE to see snow?

Edited:

I see I posted too slow.

CR. I bet you are great at Kareoke!! Or however it is spelled. :D I was in a band for most of my life, well many bands actually. We did do many Beatles covers too. ;)

Eru, I want to SEE you on that table dancing and singing. Promise?

Vanadarlin', we will sit back and lau...erm, watch and encourage. :D

Oh and to answer a question you asked me somewhere Eru. The wind damage was from the 18th of November. A ladder was blown onto our car and it dented the front driver side fender and a deep dent near the top of the driver door by the windshield.

That's all right! Half the time I can't remember which day is which!

Did you go to the website in the second of the two posts? That is the one that has the different pictures loaded. I can see about 5 of the dishes. You have to wait for them to change, like a slideshow. But I see it okay from this end. :D

I went to both and they both looked the same. But I will take another gander at the second one to see if it works. The internet at work can be fairly useless sometimes, though!

I think you are right about the weather where you are vs Ayslhyn. Would you LIKE to see snow?

Oh, yes! As long as it doesn't affect my driving. :D I doubt we'd get that much anyway - usually it's just enough to make things look pretty. :)

Edited to add: I checked the second website again and nothing is showing up, but I highly suspect that's a problem at my end, so I wouldn't worry about it. :D I'll check it out tomorrow from home. :)

heliona well check it from home if you have the time. I would be interested to know if there is something wonky with the website too. :D

And here it hardly ever snows anyway, but last year we got clobbered right about this time. The forecast is calling for some snow later in the week, but we shall see.

I am like you, for some reason, a touch of white stuff makes it "feel" like it is the holiday season. :D

Will do. :)

Yes, and when the weather is properly chilly with a crisp smell to the air, if you know what I mean. So you know that you can go out for a walk wrapped up warmly and have a lovely time.

On a more food-related note, I'm having tomato soup for dinner this evening. Yumm. :D Heinz, of course. ;)

Fruitcake? Did you say FRUITCAKE? Oh dear, now we must part company, I am afraid. They are good for door stops.

Eggnog with the brandy in it is lovely, especially on a really shivery cold night.

It is spelled three ways that I am aware of, but it is pronounced Catch-up.

At least to my knowledge. Heinz is Ketchup. But I think it depends on where you were raised on how it is spelled. For me, it was always Catsup. *shrugs*

I googled it and found it three ways. :D

Okay... foodies, help me!

I'm baking cornish game hens (never did it before) using a recipe for a yummy rice stuffing... but I can't seem to fit any of it inside the hens... I feel like such a dork for asking this, but... is there anything I need to rip or rearrange so that I can actually get the stuffing in there? The recipe says I should be able to fit all of what I have into two hens, and wow, that's so not happening with that teeny hole.

[/feels like major dork] :rofl::rofl:

LOL, you came to the right place.

Yes, use your fingers to enlarge the inside. Don't tear the meat. And recipes don't know the SIZE of your hens. So you might not be able to fit all the stuffing that you made. Just put it around the outside as they roast and put dabs of butter on the top. I think you will enjoy it. :D

Let me know how it turns out for you.

Something tells me Woofty that you did this without any help. If you haven't done it yet, melt some butter on the stove and dab the birds with them every ten minutes or so. The skin will come out crispy and tasty too. Trust me on this one. ;)

Heinz make everything, rwhen. :D They are actually an American company, but quite a few of their products have become ingrained in the British psyche and are not available in the US (like Heinz Salad Cream - it is very difficult to get hold of). They own lots of other companies too.

Their baked beans are the best, too. (Nothing like your baked beans, though. Ours are in a tomato-y sauce and sometimes you might find some sausages in the tin too. But other than that, nothing. Although I do like American (or rather Boston, I suppose) baked beans too. :))

I have been basting it every so often to try to make the skin crispy... but putting a bit of butter on it sounds DELICIOUS. Yes I am doing this all by myself and I am all lost and clearly my mother was remiss in never teaching me how to cook a whole bird. :P

ETA: OH AND: For maximum tastiness, what should I do with all the liquid left in the pan? They're almost done and there's a ton of it. I'd be inclined to make gravy of some sort. Is there a better idea?

I am a great fan of gravy, so I would say "How could there be a better idea?" If you aren't having anything on which you could put gravy, put it in a measuring cup type container and stick it in the refrigerator. Skim the fat, later, and use it when you have mashed potatoes, or just put it on a slice of bread.

Wow, quadruple post! You did better than I ever did, and I was triple-posting with the best of them, Portia! :D

And that's interesting on Heinz products. I remember years ago when the Beatles put out their Anthology special on TV, Ringo mentioned that since he was allergic to so many things, when he and the others went to India to meet the Maharishi, he brought along several cans of Heinz beans. Those must be the ones he was talking about.

The Heinz beans helonia is talking about are not like baked beans.. as she said.. they are more like white beans in a tomato sauce.. and they eat them in the U.K. for breakfast. If you look around.. you MIGHT be able to find them here. My husband works with a fellow from Scotland and he found them somewhere around here in the store. I don't think I had any.. they did not seem appealing to me, but then I don't like a lot of canned prepared tomato-y based things.. like chef boyardee stuff. (I think it's part of the 'I like things made from scratch' snob in me. :P

Heinz salad cream?? what the heck is that? Is it like Miracle whip? Sort of like a mayonnaise/salad dressing combo?

Hm, I've only heard of Ketchup, I thought catsup was a myth. Interesting that it's still called that.

And wow, portia! Beats my dp 6 mins apart the other day. :D

Chef Boyardee! I almost forgot about him! I used to love that when I was little, especially the ravioli.

Had some spinach and eggs for dinner tonight.

We had pizza tonight but to me there was something wrong with the sausage. I guess the spice mix was not quite what it used to be so I did not like it. :( But I had Shrimp Fried Rice for lunch and that was totally awesome as usual.
